THIS IS WHAT YOU BUY: Competitive Buy List and FAQ

By FiendishDevil, in Star Wars: The Card Game

Bumping to the top because I feel I should do my part.

Updated to include in depth sleeve FAQ.

FYI, this is incorrect.

Are sleeves required for tournament play?

  • No they are not required, however if any of your cards are distinguishable from the others, you can be disqualified. If you are using any of the League Kit Alternate Art cards then you need to use sleeves with colored backings (not clear) as the card stock is slightly different due to the Print-On-Demand process.

Per the tournament rules .pdf,

Card Sleeves
For all officially sanctioned regional, national, invitational,
and world championship events, players are required
to use protective sleeves for their decks. If a player’s
deck contains Aurebesh text or alternate art cards,
the sleeves must be art sleeves or opaque. For all local
level events, card sleeves are not required, but players
are encouraged to use sleeves both to protect their
cards and to protect themselves against accusations of
marking or manipulating decks by exploiting variance in
the size, wear, or texture of their cards.

Updated to include Rogue Squadron cycle.

This is extremely helpful and I can't thank you enough for keeping this update.

You can only use the six objective sets from balance of the force in competitive play? These objectives are that beneficial?

Updated for Rogue Squadron cycle.

Balance of the Force comes with 2x copies of every objective and 1x copy of limited ones.

I'm not sure what your question is. But for completion sake, you only need to purchase 1 copy of Balance of the Force.

I am an X Wing player, spending tons of money on minis and wave 5 and 6. I have around $200 CND to spend. Base set at my FLGS is $50, and Force Packs are $20. To be at least somewhat competitive what do I spend my money on? I have a soft spot for Hoth related stuff :-)

Core Set, Edge of Darkness, Hoth Cycle (6 packs).

That's what I would do personally. Should come right around $200 CND

Updated new pack reveal.

Updated. Between the Shadows released!

Thanks for the post and for the steady updates.

Updated for website changes and expansion release.
