Looking forward to this new tournament format. So many options...

Today was our first ever Star Wars LCG Highlander tournament at the Event Center! 14 in attendance. We did 4 rounds of swiss with a cut to top two. Lots of underused sets seeing play all across the board. Forgotten Heroes was evidently all but forgotten up here. So many core set Obi-Wans running around today.

Edited by MacRauriThe Highlander tournament was tremendously fun today. I would strongly recommend the format for any group trying to organize an event between the big tournaments or releases. Each game was very different and your own decks could also play wildly differently each time There was a lot more variance than in regular play, but decks were still able to field a slew of mains. Actually even more so since they couldn’t run duplicates! It’s really scary facing off against Vader, Mara, Sariss and a Defense Fleet. Also I think I was hit with more There is No Escapes today than ever before in my life.
Random musings about my decks
DS:
First turn wampa is awesome. Two wampas on the first turn in brutal
Mara Jade is very self sufficient
Mara Jade with Forward Command Post is awesome
Veers can give so many guns
6 Hoth Objectives and 5 Battles of Hoth creates for one resilient highlander deck
Desolation of Hoth swings games!
Looping Desolation of Hoth with Palpatine is disgusting
LS:
Turn one Heavy Blaster Emplacement does so much work over the game
Looping Old Ben’s Spirits on your mains with Message from Beyond is still really good
Obi-Wan has a lot of tactics.
LS heat of battles help empty boards.
Forgotten Heroes helps you draw more heat of battles
Jedi Mind Trick wins games
Looping Old Ben’s Spirits on your mains with Message from Beyond is still really good
The objective saw a lot of play back during the beginning of the Hoth cycle. It fell out of favor because of its lack of units

Yes, two copies of that set had the potential to leave you with some pretty awful hands. It certainly had its moments, but I think everyone who played it heavily eventually found out that other routes could be more effective.
What's next? Who showed up last night (12/29)?
Event Center has it
"And there was much rejoicing!"
Store Championship at the FFG Event Center on Jan 10th. Sign-up starts at 10am, round 1 scheduled for 10:45.
Come get some practice in tomorrow (Monday) night.
Wish I could attend. See the gaming center right before my closed eyes. Good luck to everybody and have fun !
I wish you could too, Alter Freund.
The Fantasy Flight Event Center held its Store Championship today (Jan 10th). We had 13 people in attendance and did 4 rounds of swiss with a cut to top 4. I was undefeated in swiss and soared through the beginning of the top cut—there was some crazy first turn Luke action followed by a DS turn with no units to replenish his board—to face off against Josh Grace again. Joshua and I had already played 3 games during the day and I had beaten him all 3 times, 2 of them being very close, but it was the final 2 games that mattered and his tight play pulled him through. Once again the Sith rule the galaxy:

Thanks for the write-up Mick.
Sounds like you're going to start developing a (very understandable) fear of turn 1 holocron drops
I also love how the top decks were pretty different.
Congratulations to Josh and Mick!
And Hi, Andy!
Store Championship at Universe Games near Lyndale and Lake next Sunday February 22nd. Registration at 10am.
Attendance at Universe Games Store Championship is up 50% this year! (4 to 6)
Also there was a lot of Hoth decks. Maybe because it's fickin' cold outside.

Hello to the Minneapolis community,
I'm new to the game and been looking for people to play with at the FFG Center. So far been there on three Mondays and no luck. The whiteboard there says Monday is star wars LCG night. Is there another night I should be trying?
Hello to the Minneapolis community,

I'm not a Minneapolis guy but I dabble there 3-4 times per year.
If you have a facebook you should join this group. There's a lot of info posted there when meet ups happen. I'll let a local guy comment on the FFG center play schedule because I'm unsure.
I'm sorry to hear that you've been showing up with no one to play with!
Most of the chatter for getting together to play has moved to Facebook.
Mondays no longer work very well for me (unless people stick around until after 8pm). Saturday afternoon is much better for me.
Put something up I'm sure you'll get some responses. We've even played at Mall of America as a group with Jeeps' kid ran around in the amusement park.
I will talk with Dave about taking down the Monday sign.
Alright cool. Thanks guys, I'll try using the facebook group. Not sure I'm ready for extreme Jeep/LCG action, but we'll see.
HAHA! Hey- anyone available this weekend? Saturday or Sunday? I am ready for some EXTREME action... (but with my two kids in tow...)
Does Xtreme action mean Mall of America again or is FFG fine?
I can do Sat afternoon
