New Imperial heavy leaked

By AsmallChicken, in Star Wars: Legion

I'm really glad the actual LAAT/LE is in the preview so people don't start jizzing their pants about a Republic LAAT.

Cant say im too hyped for the Imperial version of the airspeeder.

Although the split weapon arcs might not be too bad if they give it an ordnance slot.

I dont think the LAAT/LE would have to deal with split weapon arcs, it only has forward facing weapons if I remember right. I guess it could have some shots out its side arcs if u were to consider any troopers inside fireing out the side hatches

From a gameplay standpoint I think this is more interesting than the ITT (which would have a lot of overlap with the Occupier), but from a marketing/sales standpoint this is a baffling decision. So I am happy, but confused.

I don’t feel like the CW factions are catching up with numbers of options compared to the GCW factions

Welp, that's not what I expected but I can't say I'm disappointed. I'm excited to see the stats for it and see how it'll work on the board. Might make a good blitz transport if it can take a hit or two.

Since the CW factions were released (ie. after 10/18/19, almost 15 months ago), Rebels and Imperials have gotten a total of 4 announcements each (if you count the new heavies, which haven't actually been announced yet), and so far only two actual releases. In the same period of time, the CW factions have each gotten 5 announcements and 7 releases, with another one slated for later this month.

I'm fairly certain that this unit will have Hover: Air X (2 at least, maybe 3?). Two of these took down a communications tower with missiles, so I think an Ordnance slot is likely as well. I'm hoping for a pilot slot, along with a Field Commander pilot. Perhaps Tarkin or Maketh Tua? Both used the LAAT/le, and neither tended to get their hands dirty with direct combat.

Don't forget that these are technically a latewar clone wars vehicle as well.

Release date of CW Core Set: October 2019

Republic Units: 11 (12 if you count R2 and C3PO)

Confederacy Units: 11

Rebellion Units Released Since October 2019: 5 (6 if you count R2 and C3PO)

- Rebel Trooper Upgrades

- Operative Luke

- Cassian and K2-SO

- Clan Wren

- Lando

Empire Units Released Since October 2019: 6 (Dewback was supposed to be released with Tauntauns but was delayed)

- Dewback

- Stormtrooper Upgrades

- Operative Vader

- Iden Versio and droid

- Inferno Squad

- Agent Kallus

Thrawn may end up a field commander on this one, however id hope for him to be a proper commander, and have governer pryce as a field commander with this one.

They actually probably have a lot of better options than the GCW factions, since their pieces were far better designed from the very beginning where as the Empire and Rebels have a lot of dead releases even after repeated fixes that will never see the table.

If they were to give the GAR and CIS units comparable to things like the Fleet Troopers or Scout Troopers (without the sniper strike team config the normal scout troopers) then sure I'd think there is a solid argument to say get them up to speed first. But they have yet to have a dead release for either of those factions and they still have some of the best units in the game, they certainly have the best Heavies. So getting the Rebels and Empire some better Heavies since they probably didn't want to do a massive overhaul to their unit card is more like bringing the GCW up to speed with the CW factions.

Not to mention these new Heavies seem to offer a different kind of niche to anything they've done before, that being new faster unit transports, and likely the CW factions will get their versions of them later down the line, the LAAT being the clear comparison for the GAR.

If they want to flip it and start doing CW releases of new ideas first, figure out what does/doesn't work with those releases and then fix that for the GCW when they get theirs later, then as a Rebel player I'm certainly down for that.

Interesting, I was hoping for the ITT but this could be fun. With the sliding doors maby they'll have a double sided card where one side its a closed transport with no weak points and the other its an open transport with weak point 1 sides. That could be an interesting new mechanic.

Every shot I've seen of this ship strikes me as extremely ugly. This might be the first imperial miniature I don't buy, unless the actual model looks much better. I love the look of the imperial equipment, but not this thing.looksmlike a TIE and an escape pod had a really ugly baby.

it has a rear gun im pretty sure

my guess its its gonna have fixed front guns, a fixed rear gun, an ordnance slot, and arsenal 2

then speed 2 on a saber tank base, hover air 2, strafe, closed transport, and 8 health with armor + white surge save. outmaneuvers a possibility as well.

and probably be around 160ish points

Unfortunately I dont see this vehicle filling any roles imperials need. I cant see it helping imperials in the clone matchup at all and thats the biggest problem for them right now. the last thing imperials needed was another vehicle that loses to saber tanks and AATs.

Can't wait to not buy these.

I'll buy one. For some reason it makes me think of the mini-rig collection.

Same here, as well as Kallus, so far the only thing i will be getting for Legion is 1 pack of Droid specialists which if you add on Maul are my only purchases for Legion since late summer, but thats ok my hobby money is now on Marvel Crisis protocol

Who thought space truck was a good thing to keep people interested in the gcw. The tie copter is okay, but surely there's cooler stuff to pick from.

Oh man, I hadn't thought about MTV-7 and MLC-3 in a very long time. I'd love to see those come back.

was this from the same set?

this thing always made me laugh

I think the MLC-3 actually showed up in the backdrops of some modern SW Marvel comics, it could actually come in as a small pocket armored vehicle for rebels.

I have an old PDT-8 that I may convert into something for Legion.
