Just picked up the Core set. What should I get next?

By NikYoritomo, in L5R LCG: Deck Building

After getting the Core set what should i buy next. Years ago my top 4 clans were Mantis, Spider, Phoenix then Crane. I was disappointed with the lack of Mantis and Spider clans in the new game which lead to me getting into it later after some Mantis have shown up. I don't have unlimited funds to buy every expasion now. I also don't know my play style for this new game. I try to avoid the unicorn clan. Regardless the abilities it seems silly to me kinda like the bard in d&d.

Anyway can you guys give me a good set buylist? I will probable lean towards Phoenix if that helps.

Thank you.

Do you only have 1 core or did you buy multiples.

My starting point would be to get a second core if you don't already have it then grab the Phoenix Clan pack next. From there I'd play around in the Deck builders like Bushi Builder or Five Rings DB (links below) to see what sort of deck you enjoy playing and you can decide on specific packs to add based on what cards you are gravitating towards.

I agree the lack of organized Mantis content is very disappointing but I'm always hopeful for change on that front, and can at least console myself with the fact that the Mantis are at least active in the story being very involved with one of the lead Crab plots at the moment.
