What would you like to see from Edge Studios?

I mean it's unfortunate that I would need to ask for it, since there was already a book designed for it, but how about a better version of Gadgets and Gear?

Gadgets and Gear was supposed to be a compiling of everything from all of the source books so far, but is missing quite a few items and also lacks completely necessary weapon/armor comparison charts.

No it was not. It was never claimed to be such. It was sold as compiling a bunch of gear and adding some new stuff.

That's also acceptable.

Any personal recommendations?

The Outer Rim . It isn't complete yet, but it's getting there. @duffn put it together from what was left of Viluppo and then members of the community helped to audit the information and add new books.

This sounds a bit too much like rocket tag. Especially combined with your suggestion that they focus on avoiding hits instead of soak.

I think the best way to get something that feels more like what you're looking for is to leave the system as-is but fluff out your narrative description of wounds as shots that narrowly miss. If you focus too much on dodging and avoidance it will increase the randomness/variance in combat outcomes to the point where it's all luck and GMs can't do a good job of planning out challenge levels.

Wounds aren’t so much near misses ( those are more where you end up with no net Successes or net Failures). Rather, wounds are basically minor cuts, bruises, scrapes, scratches, and the like.

Depending on the armor the character is wearing (Mandalorian armor offers more protection than heavy clothing, for example), I'll narrate successful attacks as grazes or as hits largely absorbed by the armor. Interestingly, this narrative style actually accounts for the "easier to hit" bit about heavy armors vs. light armors. With the heavier armor, they take more square hits but those hits don't do all that much. With light armors, they may "dodge" the hit, "only being grazed," but with the lighter protection, that "graze" is much more damaging. Narratively, that same sort of hit (grazing the shoulder) would be a narrative description of the shoulder plate of Mandalorian armor deflecting the bolt with its Defense.

This.

I feel like in this day and age, the no PDF thing is one of the biggest hurdles the Star Wars RPG is facing, not that its Asmodee/FFG's fault. It would go a long way to alleviate some of the heartache that the overseas crowd has to go through just to get the books. It just seems so ridiculous that they're under such a stranglehold.

If they had reasonably priced PDF versions of the game I would be far more likely to actually spend money on the supplements rather than finding scans online. My brother has paid for 2 of the core rule books to have physical copies of those but our local store hasn’t gotten any other books in. That includes more of those core books.

All you need to do is convince Lucasfilm, FFG, and EA that it's worth all of them sitting down to rewrite the terms of the tabletop and electronic gaming licenses (with at least one party almost certainly doing it in the middle of their contract term) and separate tabletop game PDFs from electronic gaming, hoping that LFL doesn't decide they also want other changes to the licenses that will increase LFL's benefit and decrease the licensees' benefit like they did when the toy license was renegotiated once upon a time.

Should be a snap.

Any second now they'll take advantage of the biggest marketing focus on Star Wars in the year to announce a product in the pipeline. No business would ever want to miss this window of opportunity.

Yeah I know. Still, we got a Taika movie announcement, NG+ for Fallen Order and a great final CW episode.

Yeah, a Player's Handbook would be great. A book that lists all the possible Alien species and professions one can choose from. I'd buy that.

Also more era source books.

Yeah, I think I posted this a while back, but... A black sourcebook for all planets and alien species - with PC stats for each applicable species - is really the only hole that needs filling in this line.

As it stands now, if a player wants to play as a certain alien? And you don’t have every book FFG has released? You’re hitting the ‘net, and more than likely looking for that pirated PDF.

An alien anthology really should be at the top of Edge’s list.

well its been some time and no new star wars RPG info and no real push for the last book (that sold out with no press)

its safe to say in FFG eyes this game is dead and there will be no new books just hope for reprints you wish to get

Considering Asmodee has shifted RPGs to Edge Studio and redirected FFG’s focus to tabletop and card games, it is indeed “dead” in FFG’s eyes. They have no stake in any of the RPG lines any longer.

Yeah we really need Edge to speak up. If they dont soon they will lose their customers do to their silence.

That's a point. These aren't Edge boards. Does anyone from Edge ever look at these boards or are we just howling at the (Yavin) moon?

Are any of our well-considered and heartfelt ideas going to see the light of day?

Will the mechanics equipment book Faucets and Flanges (TM) get made or not?

Probably not. But then we dont have anything on the Edge studios website. It would seem to me that it would be wise to move these boards there. but we have no way to talk to the edge guys. they have a mailing list but nothing has come from it.

Edge, at least the french part that it I know of, it also publish translated board games and RPG of other compagnies. So the 3 RPG they will get from FFFG will just add on top of all the other games they are working one. They are also very slow at releasing stuff. The french translation of this Star wars rpg is still at Lead the Example and Nexus of Power. So, Unless Asmodee hire a whole new team, I am afraid it would take a while before we see a new book, especially if they have the L5R and Zombicide RPG to work on also.

Based on the interview from GAMA, it sounded to me as if, just as FFG’s focus is being tightened to tabletop and card games, Edge’s focus is being shifted to solely RPG work. So hopefully that, along with the inclusion of freelancers to produce content, will speed up their process.

Indeed. I would say let's ask those people here we know work on SW stuff if that's so but... NDAs...

Reading through the other responses, I might be an outlier, but for me it's adventures, adventures, adventures. The stuff FFG has already created had been excellent and I want so much more of that.

Yeah, a lot of people take a fairly dim view of the adventures. I only want them for the stuff, stats, and story ideas, I'm not likely to actually run them.

Likewise. I use them for idea and material mines, but the only pre-written adventure I’ve run is Debts to Pay from the GM Kit.

France has been completely shut down since le 18 - 03 and is going to partly and slowly re-open next monday 11 - 05. So, don't really expect any communication from Asmodée before later this month.
