Excel based Character Sheet

By Memetix, in Rogue Trader

Hey Memetix,

I'd just like to add my thanks to everyone else, this is exactly what i've been hoping for since DH first came out!! I've got a bit of a problem i was wondering if you could help me with? I'm running version 5.5 on open office 3.2.1 and whenever i change the settings to Deathwatch, the chapter and specialisation sections keep the dropdown options for Rouge trader in them (eg the classes of arch militant etc and the homeworld list) Is this a bug or am i simply doing something wrong?) I have to admit i'm a novice at this kind of thing, so any help fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Shir'Du

I haven't had a chance to check out the OpenOffice bug yet. I have family over for a few more days yet so I'll have to get back to you later.

Off the top of my head - have you tried the hard recalc as mentioned in the instructions?

Memetix,

Not sure if I am doing something wrong, trying to create an ork freebooter rank 1, there are no talents or down menus for me to click on, on the talents tab. Also, the squig hide armor is not a choice on the equipment page.

Thanks for the great sheet and hard work.

Horus

The Talents page was saved slightly scrolled down, you'll just need to scroll up to the top of the sheet to see the talents.

As for the armour, you are right, I forgot to add it. The cells in the equipment section are free data entry so you can just type in Squig armour and then set the AP level's as appropriate.

I borrowed a copy of Into the Storm for the data entry so I don't know the correct values, if you could post them here I'll update the sheet.

This sheet is pretty awesome. A few things I have noticed though. The lineage path "Uncertain Inhertiance" appears to only be costing 250 xp when it should be 300. Als othe talent paranoia has no mention to the +2 initiative bonus it applies and does not affect the initiative on the sheets.

Flavion

Thanks for the bug report. I believe the 300xp cost is correctly implemented, however you may be getting a 50xp rebate for acquiring a duplicate talent.

I've implemented the +2 initiative bonus for Paranoia and this will be available in the next release.

Version 5.56 is now available for download on the Dark Reign site.

It fixes the Paranoia initiative bonus and the scrolled downTalents sheet.

Great work so far. I know that is hard but it is possible to see further improvments like bellow :

Could you add something for the wyrding talent for the rogue trader part? The book say's you what powers can you take and this is not represented into the excel sheet?

Could you add in the equipement section for the armor the ability to to add-ons like sanctified ,like cameleonine paint, advance helmet sensors ,etc?

What the harness means?

Could you add the ability to a shield and the area of the body that the shield will protect?

For adding weapon can you add the weight of the weapon and the ability to each weapon like you an armor , and to the weapon improvments, and the quality of the weapon?

For both the carry equipment and the aquisitions should give the ability to the equipement and if needed the quality level could be added.

Can you add a field that will number the total weight of the character (armor,gear,weapons,ammo.etc).

Version 5.57

A further update is available with the Deathwatch 1.0 Errata changes. Thanks to Trent for his help with this.

Thor

There are some really good suggestions in your list and I'll have a think about how to implement them.

I am in the middle of a house move at the moment and due to be offline for a while so it may take some time before I get around to it.

I seem to be having a problem with the Sorcerer talent. Whenever I take it, no matter the circumstances, the entire document goes haywire. The exp to spend number become "#VALUE!" and the skill sheet goes berserk. Am I doing something wrong or is it a bug?

EDIT: Also, the drop down menu for Major Arcana doesn't work

If you are taking Sorcerer as an Elite Advance you'll need to put your current will power bonus in square brackets after it to set how many minor powers you get.

i.e. Sorcerer [3]

If you get it from an alternative career path then the pull down menu to the right of the talent should automatically have the correct option available, but you still need to it to make the "powers" sheet work correctly.

just as you said, the document straightened out and behaved, once the dropdown menu choice of "4 minor power" had been selected.

However the powersheet downs for Major arcana are still not responding. I picked sorcery and my arcana as part of the Impirial Diviner alternate career, and chose Create door in the down menu granted, when i picked major arcana in the talent window. It does not however change the blank list in the power sheet, and I still cannot change the major Arcana in there, except if i write the name myself.

Any chance of getting stuff from Rites of Battle in this? I use this generator alot as a GM.

I`m **** impressed with this spread sheet and will use it for my upcoming RT game. Thanks a lot.!

Thanks for the feedback and positive comments. I'm really pleased people are finding the sheet useful.

I don't have Rites of Battle, nor do my play group so it may be a while before I get access to a copy I'm afraid.

If anyone with a copy of the book fancies doing the data entry, me an email.

Squighide - 3AP to Arms, Body, Legs

Weighs 4Kg

Thanks

Thanks, this is very handy!

This sheet is awesome thanks for all the work!

Any plans to add the Edge of the Abyss or Disciples of the Dark Gods psychic powers?
What about Blood of Martyrs stuff?

I love this sheet, I use it alot as a GM to make my main NPCs.

I second the addition of Blood of Martyrs, it's a much better book for Sisters of Battle

I love this sheet as well :) Been using it extensively to create a host of different characters.

However, is it possible to implement the Rite of Duplessence? Currently i do not see how i can add it (can't buy it as an elite advance, or at least not as an option in the sheet), nor how i can manage the xp for the extra brain. It would be nice if we could get an extra tab for the new brain + some kind of extra character sheet for it. Big Rite of Duplessence fan cool.gif

I'm happy to add the psyker powers, but I don't have access to those books, could someone email me a list of the powers please?

I'm not aware of the Rites of Duplessence, what book is it from? Based on your description it sounds like it might be a lot of work to implement. I'll make a judgement call when I see the details.

It's from Into The Storm (p106). Short version: it's an honorific for the Adeptus Mechanicus where two Tech Priests share one body (two brains, one body). The brain that is sharing cannot influence the body but it has a direct link to the other brain, thereby allowing the two to work together and achieve results much faster then both could seperately. Ingame effects are that the second brain gains xp half as fast as the main brain (aka the player) and that it can spend that xp on anything in the current career path of the explorator. It cannot buy anything that requires a physical body and it gets it's sensory input through the second character (though i guess it could be possible to link a visual augmetic to the second brain directly, same for mechandrites. This is conjecture though as it's not in the book).

Taking the rite grants the binary cortex trait (aka the second brain with the half xp) and it costs 1000 xp.

And whilst i'm commenting on the sheet, three remarks from an open office user:

1. i notice that the benefits/drawbacks of mutations (eg. from Tainted in the Origin Path) aren't automatically calculated?

2. i also notice that any character with a lot of skills doesn't find all of them on the character sheet. I had a lvl 8 seneschal with a ton of skills which i couldn't all get in the character sheet (awesome layout btw, i love it).

3. there is mention in the tab with release notes of a Menu sheet? I cannot find this in open office? I have these sheets (in that order): Instructions, Character Generation, Equipment, Advancement, Skills, Talents, Powers, Character Sheet, Modern CS, DW Mode, Talent Summary, Ammo, Release Notes

Some news ....

I am fixing a few bugs that have been reported and expect to release later today.

I've also borrowed a copy of blood of the martyrs so I'll start work on that afterwards.

Again - thanks for the positive feedback and improvement ideas. I does keep me going at times when another expansion comes out that adds new ways of doing things. I've taken a look at Rites of Duplessence and decided that it is way too much work for me to justify - sorry. You can type anything into the elite advances section, you don't need to pick from the list of talents. Maybe a second character sheet for the other brain would suffice.

I have no plans to auto implement the affects of mutations, it is easy enough to manually make the adjustments to characteristics.

In the next release I have fixed the starting arcana slots for Sorcerers. I erroneously implemented them as having X minor powers (as per Psy Rating 2). Now they get 3*WP slots to spend on the Powers sheet.

When loading an old character I recommend finding the Sorcerer Talent and replacing the "X minor powers" with the new formatted option "Y arcana slots". You will need to work out what their WP was at the time they took the advance.

Yeah, that's how i did it for my current character, just adding xp to "other" to be able to from the right ranks. Works well enough given that the sheet is awesome :)
