Excel based Character Sheet

I have noticed when using Dark Heresy that the XP is wrong from Rank 5 up. It continues to work at 1k intervals instead of increasing to 3k for rank 5, 2k for ranks 6 and 7 and 5k for rank 8.

I'm not sure I clearly understand what you've discovered here ….. Do you mean that the xp total for the next rank (as shown on the Advancement sheet) is being calculated wrongly?

If you have the "Allow Ascension" set to Yes in the options on the first sheet then it will use the advancement xp values from the Ascension book and these are indeed different from the Dark Heresy values.

Re: the various cybernetics in DH: Book of Judgement - I sent the following message:

"Apologies, but the Cybernetics listed in Dark Heresy: Book of Judgement (page 77-78) appear not to have a listed cost or rarity. Would it be possible to get a listing of such?

Additionally, as regards Karrikian Lock-Arms, it states that they give a +20 bonus to strength when making melee attacks using the arm - is this the same as simply +2 damage, or is it presented in this way for a different reason (ie: it actually gets multiplied by unnatural strength, or some other reason that I'm not seeing)

Thanks!"

The reply I got was:
"Hi Matt! We're working on correcting this omission in an errata, but try out these values and see how they work for your group.

Table 3-8: Cybernetics
Name Cost Availability
Constructor Interface 1,000 Rare
Karrikian Lock-Arm 1,200 Rare
Landian Reveler 950 Very Rare
Malfian Dermaguise 1,100 Very Rare
The Lack-Arm should be a +2 damage, yes.
Hope these help and thanks for playing!

So, I don't know if you'd like to put these in, or just wait till the official errata.
The +2 damage from lock arms is therefore *not* modified by unnatural strength, but is a base +2 increase to melee damage (or muscle powered ranged attacks?) - being a bionic arm, the Karrakian Lock Arms will also give +2 toughness in that location.

Thanks memespawn,

I'll update the shop in the next release.

Seems the Sorcery thingies don't work right. Master Sorceror is grey even thoug I fulfill the requirements, and the Powers sheet only show I have 2 Minor powers even thoug I've taken all the talents available as a Forsaken Priest.

Edit: Nevermind, just me not realising how it all works :)

I've been wondering, and you've probably already mentioned it, but do you have plans to incorporate the "Honour the Chapter" Deathwatch supplement in the near future? In my group, I am running a Flesh Tearer Librarian, but I don't think the Spreadsheet has the psychic powers or advancement tables from it. I know that Flesh Tearers are mentioned briefly in "Rites of Battle", but not much more than a description. Thank you for the awesome spreadsheet. I have my group using it almost religiously. It helps so much with calculations and tracking. Keep up the great work.

Hi, Memetix… impressive amount of work on your sheet!

Our group is playing RT and my character is a Navigator. I'm looking at your sheet as a candidate for replacing my paper character sheet with a digital one. There's one thing missing for me, and that is some way to mark the 3 special Navigator Powers that are chosen for Fruits of Corrupted Blood (applied when choosing a Renegade House). Those Powers each get a +10 bonus, and enemies also get a -10 to resist. Any chance you might be able to add something for the Character Gen sheet for selecting the 3 chosen powers? I suspect it could be done similar to what you have for the choices you provide for the Origin Path.

Shadoom - Honor the chapter is still on my list, but I don't have a copy of the book or easy access to one at the moment.

ZenCow - I'll take a look and see what is possible.

Before I delve into the guts to add it myself, were you planning to add the material from Navis Primer?

I'd like to bring the sheet up to date but I'm pretty busy right now with other things.

If you feel you can add in the Navis Primer material in a generic way, then please feel free and send me the updates to the email address at the bottom of the instructions sheet. Any help supporting this sheet is most welcome.

Yes I found my error, and have adjusted the rules for Ascension. It was my mistake. I do have 2 other questions though.

I noticed that backgrounds and classes that require certain planets (Like Imperial or Hive), are not recognizing the specific origin worlds that also fall under that catagory. Example, Volg Hive origin does not allow you to select the Hive specific Backgrounds or classes. Will you be adding this in later?

Also, are you going to be adding the different Lathe Worlds into the Origins for the Dark heresy side?

Lastly, Thank you so much for the sheet, it has been a godsend for our game.

Memetix - Any chance of doing an upgrade that includes the recent release of "Only War"?

My gaming group has become addicted to your great character creator, and we've considered to jump aboard "Only War" for our next play session, but we need our charactor creator fix to go with it! :D

That is a timely question. I borrowed both Only War and Black Crusade over the weekend and had a good look at what would be involved.

Both make significant changes to the way character generation and advancement is done. There doesn't seem to be a way to incorporate the changes into the current sheet so any solution would be a brand new sheet loosely based on the current sheet. I reckon there is about a weeks work (40 hours) to do this for Only War and maybe another 20 for Black Crusade since it could reuse the Only War changes.

Given the ammount of work I've got on at the moment I'm not able to undertake all that extra work.

I do hope to incorporate the Navis Primer and Honor the Chapter however.

If there is anyone who fancies taking on the Only War or Black Crusade jobs, feel free.

Thank you for your response.

I had figured that would be the answer given your previous posts, and the changes to the system itself.

Our group doesn't convene that often (every 3-4 months), so if you change your mind in the future and you reach a better work/life balance, I'm more than happy to offer you a copy of the core book as a gesture of appreciation for your hard work and dedication to this community.

Hello, first of all I have to say that this is a great project of yours and that my entire group is thankfull for this kind of gadget that makes playing especialy later on when the characters are quite developed much more smoth.

Today I tried to convert two of my characters that are curently in use and I noticed that the Magistrate Career from the Book of Judgement is missing or broken. Neither was it Availalbe in the Character Sheet nor was I able to find it in the Lookup Table you provided. The strange thing was that I was able to manualy type in the Class into the alternate class Field and it somehow worked though not all Talents/Skills were activated. It pretty much looked like a damaged data set. After I redownloaded the Sheet the same error still occured.

The other things I noticed are just minor aestetics. While converting my Tech-Priest I noticed that the Talent "Machinator Array" from the "Mechanicus Secutor" Alternate Career in the Inquisitors Handbook does not add its Attribute Modifiers while, for example, the "Mining Helot Device" does. Also there are no Good Quality Versions availalbe for the "Auger Array" or the "MIU" from the Core Book while for other Bionics the Qualities are included.

Thanks so far for this great sheet and hopefully I was able to help.

As far as I can see, Magistrate is correctly in my data set. The only anomaly I could find is that Magistrate is also a career path name so the alternative rank version in my sheet has a space at the end to differentiate it. If you could email me your .rtc file I should be able to track down the problem. My email address is at the bottom of the instructions sheet.

Thanks for pointing out the other problems, I will take a look ….

Memetix - Is there a way to get the backgrounds and alternate careers that require origin worlds, like Hive Worlder, to recognize the specific worlds like Volg Hiver?

I'll work on a fix for the next release, in the mean time you can use the "allow invalid backgrounds" house rule option to work around the problem if you want.

I'm using Openoffice to edit my character sheet, and most of it seems to be working fine, but when I change the type of game from RT to DH, the RT Careers remain instead of updating to the Careers of DH. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it because I'm using OpenOffice?

Nevermind, figured it out, should have read the instructions. For future reference, OpenOffice users press Ctrl+Shift+F9 to do a hard recalculation of the values after switching.

Hi all,

I have put together a far more primative excel sheet compared to the one in this thread to try and fill the communities need.

This is the thread on the Only War forums to save cluttering up this thread.

Memetix if you do wish to incorporate Only War into your main sheet feel free to use any part of my sheet that might speed the process up.

Hi there,

first of all: superb work, Memetix! As a GM of a group of 7 who likes to build NPCs in detail and on the spot I can honestly say that your work is highly appreciated!

However, I seem to be too stupid in order to do the psy rating thing right. Every time I build a psyker (dark heresy) I only end up with minor powers for PR 1, but don't get any further powers for higher psy ratings. Is this a known issue of user stupidity? Please point me to my error. I'm using version 6.4 with MS Excel 2010 on a Win7 Home machine.

Thanks

Great job

at what place can we insert the experience wins?

Thanks

A group of friends and I are looking to start up a Rogue Trader campaign and I'm planning on rolling a Navigator. We're going to use the Navis Primer but I noticed that the latest version of the spreadsheet (which I love) does not include an option to choose one of the Navis Nobilite houses described in the Navis Primer, which I believe is incorporated into the character generator.

I would imagine this option would be on the 'Character Generation' tab, but I may have missed it if it's somewhere else. If it's not, are there any plans to incorporate this kind of detail into the spreadsheet?

Thanks!

I haven't implemented The Navis Primer yet. I've been really busy on other projects, but now that the new release of OCTGN if out I will have some free time again as my work on Lord of the Rings - The Card Game is pretty much done (for a while). There is no rest for the wicked with the LCG format.

First off, thank you so much for making this character creator, I've found it extremely useful for creating characters.

The only problem I've got with it is the way that it handles background choices, especially in regards to Rogue Trader. I finished statting up a character, and I thought I had made a mistake considering that my spent experience was 300 less than it should have been. After investigating it, I realised that the experience I had spent on background paths had been deducted from my total spent experience, rather than contributing to it. Is this a bug, or is the sheet supposed to disinclude background experience?

Is there any chance this can be changed?
