Hello guys!

Need some help to build a Pheonix deck to try to beat a Unicorn.

Played a lot today, tried a few changes, the games where great, but i always lose in the end. Don't know what can i change here to win.

Dont have the list from the Uni, but the two mais 'power houses' where Aranat and Moto Chagatai and a good suport from Iuchi Daiyu, and the usual events from Uni to bring characters. Province Shiro Shinjo.

Any tips on changes to Phoenix deck to play against Uni?

Play Tadaka and more shugenja in general.

Copy the winning Phoenix decklist from the Denver Kotei. You can find it on Imperial Advisor. There was also a video of a Phoenix vs Unicorn and you can see just how important Tadaka is during the game.

Then just adjust for the recent changes to the restricted list. The most recent episode of Jade Throne Podcast has some good suggestions on what to change.

And go get some reps in on Jigoko

The Phoenix Unicorn MU is really easy to understand. As a Phoenix player the following things are important:

-Kuroi Mori on your SH. If the Unicorn is competent, he will be almost always be faster than you.

- Let your oponent spend cards to break your provinces. This is usually not a MU that gets decided by value, so giving up value to delay Unicorn is viable.

- When Uni is on your SH you lose if you don't have Tadaka or more active Censures than your oponents Captive Audiences.

That pretty much sums up the match up for the more common Unicorn builds out there. The video match between Phoenix and Unicorn at the Denver Kotei is essentially this. Phoenix gets Tadaka right out of the gate and Unicorn can't get him off the board and Unicorn's hand ends up getting choked.
