Reach of the Empire IC

“Discreetly armed bodyguards and protection officers are permitted within the resort. It will be uniforms and sidearms while on duty, casual attire and concealed weapons when you are pretending to relax and enjoy the amenities. But still on duty, of course.”

”Training exercises outside the resort will proceed unhindered, full battle gear and armor, but stun settings only. Fire Team Dorn will be on site to engage Banshee Squad during the exercises. The guests will be expecting a show. Give them one, without blowing the place up.”

“Reyniu is situated just off the Sanrafsix Corridor, between the Omwat and Kabal systems in the Mayagil sector. It is a predominately terrestrial world, with vast stretches of arid plains. There are also chains of inland seas, however, and it is along these shores that the resort complexes are located.”

”Cliffview Resort and Spa sits atop one such rugged outcrop, a rocky peninsula rising some 100 meters above the Lunoa Sea. Reyniu was once inhabited by the Squamatan, a humanoid species with reptilian characteristics. With the natural resources that brought wealth to their culture depleted, most have moved on; but some remain, working at the resorts. Doctor Vos is Squamatan, and maintains her clinic at Cliffview, with a mostly native staff. You should be advised, that they are known to possess venom glands within their mouths.”

”The atmosphere is breathable, but prolonged exposure to solar radiation is not advised. Stormtroopers will be sufficiently protected in their standard armor, while deployed outside the domes.”

“The Intrepid will be remaining in the Suolriep Sector, so you will be operating without direct support. The Arquitens-class ILC Excelsior, operating in Omwati space, will be your closest support ship.” (At this point, a member of Colonel Yularen’s staff enters, and whispers to him).

”I must go. Dossiers and any further intelligence will be transmitted between jumps. Good hunting.”

"Excellent. More chances to put the Phantom to the test. Be sure to place your bets while you're there on who the best pilot in the sector is. It's me, by the way..."

"If you have to say it, it probably isn't true." Hale said, grinning. "I'm interested in that firefight they're talking about. 'Fire Team Dorn' sounds familiar, but I can't remember for sure... Luks, you remember anything about them? Maybe from previous training exercises or even from SCAR training?"

Hawk strides out of his cubicle, adorned in a duster, with a mask covering the lower half of his face.

As Den punches in the coordinates for their 'holiday' (or just holiday Den hopes) he would let out a chuckle at Hale's question. "I know I got the moves of a S.C.A.R boy, but I ain't actually one of them. Truth be told I'm just another one of the boys in white. None of that special training or anything me. I've actually only worn the armour for a couple of years now, before that I was in the grey of the army. The academies don't really take aliens unless your parents are loaded, or you god the good when it comes to fighting. My parents weren't rich". There's a hint of bitterness as Den talks about the subject, but quickly move back on topic.

"Well you're one of us now, whether you like it or not. I don't care if you came from the Army--s'long as you aren't still in the Army-" he jabs, smirking, "-you're a S.C.A.R. trooper, pal."

So that's why he was so unfamiliar with Vader and the Inquisitorious... Hale thinks. I was wondering how many classes he had to sleep through to miss that part of training.

"So, what do you know about Dorn?"

Den would smile at the ribbing, but the smile would drop for a moment in his response. "You could do worse than the imperial army, sir. It's because of them that we get to do these missions. We may deal with more dangerous missions, but they take the flak every day. Anyway, I've not really heard of Dorn, but if that's the name they're carrying, they're probably death troopers. Six man teams, real nasty pieces of work. You've got to be real into your indoctrination or something special with a blaster to join one of those squads. You see them around moff's and the likes, security and such".

Hale nods somewhat sheepishly at Luks' comments as regards the army, but he really perks up when Den mentions the Death Troopers. "Those guys? Phew, this'll be a fight to remember. Those guys are tough. I don't know much, but I've heard the scuttlebutt."

Evon spends much of the route in the archives, but cannot find anything about this "Squamatan". ,,I'm not sure I like the idea of a doctor whose species is not even worth mentioning anywhere... Ah well. Beggars can't be chosers!"

The name Vos, seemed familiar to Briar and after some digging she discovered, that she was the same one from the Wheel, and not only that but the collars from the arena there used much of the same technology as Fitzsimmons collar. Looking into the collars she discovered that a Wookiee in a terrorist cell had scars that most likely resulted from a similar collar. She also discovered that her digging had not gone unnoticed and managed to trace the breach to a Omwati slicer, Zyi Ux, I'll have to find them when we reach Cliffview. she thinks to herself, before heading to find Evon, while considering all the reasons that she can think of that Vos could be doing this operation "Doctor Taltron, I've come across some disturbing information regarding Doctor Vos," Briar says "and I was wondering if it would be possible for me to inspect the cybernetic implant that she is going to be using? I would also recommend having someone else there during the procedure if everything else checks out to that point."

,,Thank you, Agent Briar! I believe that's a necessary precaution we should take. We won't install the cybernetic until we made sure it is what she says it is."

,,As for the procedure, I recommend Hawk for medical assistance. He can overwatch Doctor Vos.

The final leg of their journey sees the Stormcrow and its Phantom escort exiting the Sanrafsix hyperlane, and making its way to Reyniu. The small planet below them appears to be primarily terrestrial, covered with low vegetation, but a maze of inland seas connected by narrow slot canyons breaks up the landscape.

”Imperial Shuttle ST-144 Stormcrow, We have been expecting you. Please proceed to Hangar Dome Cherek, with the flashing lights, You are cleared to land. Welcome to Cliffview.”

The solar shielding shimmers and disappears from above the designated landing pad. If the resort has perceived the stealth fighter escort, they are polite enough not to mention it, but a smaller adjacent pad is also prepped to receive.

The largest hangar dome is occupied by a Zeta-class Heavy Cargo Shuttle, bearing Imperial markings. While not exactly common, they are beginning to see more military use, particularly in the outer rim. A squat red and white freighter sits upon the other pad next to the Task Force’s landing site. The glint of bright sunlight reflects from the blue water below, and from large bay windows set into the cliffs, as they make their final approach.

A Sluissi steward awaits the members of the imperial task force, as they disembark. “Welcome. Doctor Vosss has inssstructed me to help you sssettle into your sssuitesss, located jussst below. I can alssso arrange a tour of the common areasss and amenitiesss. Doctor Taltron, your firssst appointment is tomorrow morning.”

A small army of hover sleds awaits whatever luggage they wish to take below to their home for the next two weeks.

Evon looks around and sniffs the fresh air that hasn't been reconditioned a gazillion times already. ,,Ah, I am a terrestial afterall." He quickly thanks thesluissi then moves out of earsight and switches to the task force's encrypted channel. ,,Phantom, this is Agent Taltron. Please perform an aerial recon before landing. Task Force, I also think we should sweep the area before starting the operation."

"Task Force, TI-4433. Skies and surrounding area clear. No sign of hostiles. Setting down and will join you shortly."

As they disembark Den hoists his pack over his shoulder as he tramps down the loading ramp. Out of armour, no one would have guessed that he was an imperial soldier, much less a stormtrooper. His fur-lined jacked had it's new medal pinned to the collar, and he was wearing it proudly. "I wouldn't mind seeing the area, I'm assuming there's a bar?"

Hale follows the Duros, wearing civvies and feeling somewhat uncomfortable. At this point, he's been in uniform for a couple months at least. He wears his sidearm as "discretely" as he can manage, hoping that he'll be able to play the part of bodyguard for the agent or doctor. He'd feel much more comfortable with more, and bigger, weapons, but his pistol would have to do for now. He shifts his luggage in his hand as the E-11 slides around inside without enough clothes to keep it still. "A bar? Now why would they have something like that?" he laughs, "Just don't hold your breath looking for one, you'll never make it before you pass out. Agent, Doctor, feel in need of a security escort? I don't think I can play the part of 'relaxed' right now, so rough-and-ready bruiser is a good alternative I suppose." He grins, "Doesn't require much acting."

He unconsciously glances at his wrist, unused to not wearing his gauntlets when not in his quarters. ,,I'm currently in need or a bodyguard Sergeant, especially looking the suspicious intel on Dr. Vos." He then changes to a less formal tone: ,,Still, I hope you can play sabacc! 🙂

"Depends who with. I can bluff a grunt, but not an intelligence agent."

,,In this case, bring your credits!" 😉

The inquisitor who had stayed silent and meditated the whole way to the resort exited the ship, not disguised and still in his full armor and helm he looked around, “Vacation... I abhor it, no Jedi to hunt.” He said to himself.

“Ah, a hunter. We have a hunting guide of sssome renown in resssidence, at the moment- SSScarpa Flek? Perhapsss you’ve heard of him? Frequently accompaniesss Doctor Vosss in her travelsss. But I sssee you have brought your own famousss guide. Massster Q’ri, it isss an honor to have you. And you, Inquisssitor, of courssse. May I recommend the ssspa, for itsss cleansssing facialsss. An absssolute mussst for our guesssts who mussst wear helmsss and masssks in ssservice to the Empire.”

Briar descends the ramp, once again in her crisp white ISB uniform, places her luggage on the hover sled. In addition to containing her belongings the luggage also holds two ID9 Seeker Droids formerly belonging to the pirate queen. Briar looks around, her eyes linger on the water for a moment Perhaps there will be time to relax, but first to find out more about that slicer.

Evon's interest rise up as the valet mentions Dr. Vos. ,,Hunting guide, you said?" He jumps on the opportunity to question someone about Vos. ,,Sergeant Hale, would you like escort me to a little hunting trip?"
