Reach of the Empire IC

By Edgehawk, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion Beginner Game

Val was leaning rather nonchalantly against the door frame behind the Inquisitor and Agent Briar. He smiled listening to the Baroness.

"The pieces are moving and you play the game well, my lady." He said to her. "Well played... well played."

"And I could do with a celebration! Some fine wine. Some good times..." he trailed off, winking at her. Then remembered he wasn't being very helpful to his new... comrades?...

"But of course," he said to the Agent and Inquisitor now eyeing him. "If that sits well with you?

"She doesn't play well enough." Drogos says looking between Kaan and Velana, "If you wish to be treated as Nobility of the empire you will tell me now the location of the Girl. Any other answer is aiding in the escape of an illegal force sensitive, which would be a crime heinous enough to render your Senator's protection useless." His eyes narrowed and his grip on the sword tightened he was determined to know where the girl was and Velana's casual comment letting Drogos know that she knew where the girl was going, meant that she was an asset he could never let leave his presence, that was of course if she actually knew. "If she can produce results, you may do whatever you wish Zeltron." The air was thick with Menace as he spoke

“Inquisitor Drogos, I had hoped to use my yacht’s advanced systems to follow the girl, but an unfortunate hyperdrive malfunction prevented it.” The would-be baroness smiles sweetly. That ship has quite literally jumped, I’m afraid.”

”If I were to hazard a guess, however? I believe I may have mentioned that the pirate queen had discovered a starmap to the lost planet of Ossus..? Might be a good place to look, if you can get the location out of her.”

'Enough Games!" Drogos said as he marched toward Velana with a threatening Stance, "For someone who wants to be an imperial Governor your lies are too easily seen through." He ignored the guards she had for her protection simply turning on his aura of fear to greater effect, "The Girl had escaped by Hyperspace well before you even left this vessel. You stated that you would be able to track the Girl my sabotage of your hyperdrives function has nothing to do with whether or not you could track her!" He sounded very much annoyed, his grip on the Pirate Queen's Cutlass was tight. "You will lead the Intrepid to her location or the inquisitorius will brand you a TRAITOR for aiding in the escape of a force sensitive!" The 4th Brother used his size and his menace to aid in his intimidation of the smug Pantoran.

For the first time, Venlana’s facade of composure falters, and she seems genuinely fearful for her safety.

”Lord Inquisitor, please listen, this is the truth of the matter.” She just barely manages to not physically take a step back. “I had hoped it might be possible, but my more technically-minded crew were quick to assure me that it was not. My ship does not have the capability I attributed to it, and for that I am sorry. I will assist you in any way that I can, however. My vast resources are at your disposal.”

Stepping away from the Inquisitor and Venlana for a moment Briar pulls up the records regarding Saleucami while attempting to contact Senator Hasse. The files indicate that Venlana is telling to truth that she has been appointed Lieutenant Governor of Saleucami.

Getting through to Senator Hasse, Briar says "Good day, Senator Hasse. I was wondering if you had recently granted an endorsement to a Venlana Sipal, to become Lieutenant Governor of Saleucami?" The senator replies "Ah, yes. Saleucami. How are things going out there." "They are under control now Senator, but about Ms. Sipal..." Briar tries a few different ways to get Senator Hasse to answer her question, but it becomes clear that he is not going to answer the question at the moment. At the end of the conversation the senator says "I would like to thank you for your excellent service agent, and to let you know that I am recommending you for a promotion. Now unless there is anything else you need...?" to which Briar reponds "Thank you, sir. I don't need anything else at this time." Except an answer to my question...

After her call with the senator ends Briar returns to the conversation between Drogos and Venlana, and interjectes. "Inquisitor, while the senator was vague on the subject, Imperial records do indicate that, as of today, Venlana Sipal has been named Lieutenant Governor of Saleucami, so that at least seems to be true."

The Inquisitor nods as he hears the news from Agent Briar "See to it that you do, Governor" Drogos said and turned his back on Velana turning to Briar and Val Kaan, "What a Senator can give, Lord Vader and the Emperor are more than willing to take away!" He stops in front of the two members of his team focusing solely on Agent Briar a fury in his eyes that was not directed at her, his hand was still tight on the Pirate Queen's sword, "She is not to leave until I have interrogated the Pirate Queen, should she make the attempt notify me. I will repair my weapon..." Drogos says as he gestures with his Lightsaber in his other hand, "... and Meditate in preparation for said Interrogation. Agent collect all the information the Governor has on how she infiltrated the Intrepid, all that she may know of the girl's whereabouts, and what the Governor knows of the Queen's mannerisms and fears and anything else you deem important." He turns back to the Governor just before leaving the ship, "Do not disappoint me Governor." He glares then leaves

The Veiled Sorority’s two Cutlass-9 patrol fighters abort their attack on the yacht, as it returns to the relative safety of the imperial destroyer. Breaking away, comm chatter between the two fighters is intercepted, but either encrypted, or very poor signal quality.

With the battle over, Den realises how incredibly tired he felt. With a heavy sigh he pushes himself out of his seat and makes his way slowly to the medi-bay. It takes longer than he planned, but eventually he makes it. Hopefully he hasn't lost too much blood from that axe.

As he makes his way into the medi-bay he slumps down into a chair, waiting for treatment. Looking around for the droid that should be here before calling out. "Hey, I could use some service here!"

The medical droid ambles over to the wounded Duros at a maddeningly slow pace. “Your initial scan registered your injuries as non critical.”

The droid makes quick work of removing the stormtrooper’s laminate armor, and conducts a thorough examination. “Indeed it is merely a flesh wound.”

Sanitizing the wound and taping it closed, the droid then administers a shot without warning. “There. Should be good as new, after some rest.”

(Den makes a full recovery, but the Stim cocktail includes a sedative for “recommended rest.” A Hard Resilience check will shake off the effects, should you wish to resist. Otherwise, Den will awaken in 4 or 5 hours, Strain recovered as well).

Somar intercepts transmissions and analyzes the flight pattens of the fighters and reports in, "TI-4433 to task force. It appears the fighters are bugging out. Shall I folow or stand down?"

The Fourth Brother of the Inquisitorius meditates. The anger, the hate, is still there; but his head begins to clear, and unbidden, his thoughts turn to the mask of the pirate queen.

Without realizing it, or thinking about it, he had picked it up on the way back through the hangar. It sits before him now, in his stateroom aboard the Stormcrow. He wants to put it on. No... It wants him to put it on! A faint purple glow emanates from within the mask, casting shadows as the Inquisitor reaches out...

(Make a Discipline check vs 1eD+2eC+2eS. Failure indicates Drogos feels compelled to don the damaged mask). @Shlambate

"The cruiser and fighters are planning on jumping out to regroup." Briar respondes to the call matter of factly "But, I don't think that the Intrepid would fair too well if we renewed our engagement, and, we have what we came for. Return to the Intrepid, Lieutenant, if they continue to be a problem the Intrepid can deal with them when it is at full strength."

"Confirmed."

The Renegades’ Blood and its fighter escort do jump away, leaving the Imperials to repair and recover from the violent exchange. The sorority’s few non-combatants, left stranded aboard the destroyer, are detained without incident.

In the crawlspace above the hangar deck, a mouse droid reports unauthorized activity, and the three remaining saboteurs are coaxed out of hiding and into custody. Imperial law on the frontier is brutal, and once they have been interrogated in regards to the safety and integrity of the ship, they will surely face enslavement or execution. Even the non-combatants are likely to find themselves placed in work camps.

Lieutenant Governor Venlana Sipal is diplomatic in recounting the details of how her yacht was permitted to board the Intrepid, as she cannot see any benefit to herself in ending the captain’s career. Deflecting any further questioning on the subject, she instead guides the debriefing to the primary objective, the pirate queen.

”I did not have much interaction with her, personally. Porel had been in contact with the Veiled Sorority for some time, and through his efforts, an offer was extended to me. When I had Tyber Zann eliminated, following a lengthy assignment working inside his Consortium, I was welcomed into the Sorority with open arms.”

Briar probes deeper, and elicits a few more details which the Inquisitor had specifically requested. “Yes, well. This might be obvious, but the girl- I believe she is truly her daughter, and her desire to protect her genuine. It is also whispered that the queen has an.. unnatural attachment to the mask. Oh! And the codes? They’re utterly burned. I received them from the pirate queen herself! I have already initiated a request for new bona fides.”

Q’ri is hunting. In his element, he can almost forget that he has been pressed into the service of the Empire. He has proven himself, reluctantly at times, but even now they like to keep tabs on him. This time, it is an Imperial Scout Trooper he knows only as “Hawk” accompanying him into the field. A sniper. Q’ri fleetingly wonders if he is being retired from service, if he is the prey this time?

Hawk has been serving with the platoon stationed at Taleucema City. He is not sure what they’re supposed to be hunting out here, but he’ll leave that to the specialist in his charge. It’s a good day to take his 74-Z out away from the city for a spell, at any rate.

Lieutenant Commander Patral has called them out to Hellhound Crater, to investigate what keeps triggering the terrestrial proximity sensors, in the badlands stretching out from the perimeter of the rim. She hadn’t actually given them any background information to go on, but the previous day at the crater had obviously been an interesting one. The fresh wreckage of at least a couple airspeeders is strewn across the boulder field, but the only prints leading away belong to... The Jawa recognizes them instantly, even here, so far from Tatooine. Massiffs! And the small boot prints are almost certainly from young Tuskens. So far from home. Like himself.

His musings are interrupted by the chirping of their comlinks: “Hawk, Q’ri, report. Have anything for me yet?” The impatience and superiority in the officer’s voice are both obvious and grating.

@April and @Barbaross41 Welcome)!

Q’ri “ pushes sown the com button “sh.. “ he grits his teeth forgetting for a second that he’s not free too say such things ... “ why are there enslavers here?”

he grips the weapon tightly.. looking around “ this is going to be bad... Hebastus 4, bad”

Hawk nods slowly, pulling his sniper rifle off his back and checking the ammo load, before replacing it carefully.

Filled with a cocktail of chemicals, Den stands from his seat with a slight wobble. Bleary eyed as he feels it begin to take affect, he just about manages to make his way to the bunks of the ship. Stifling a yawn he strips of the cracked and bloodied armour and clambers into the bottom bunk nearest him. If the owner had issue with it, they would have to wait till he was awake again. For now, he was going to recover and try not to think about the possible repercussions of the trigger control issue earlier that day.

@Edgehawk, Den is going to take a nap for the strain

“You are an Imperial Scout Trooper and a listed local Imperial asset. You will address me as Lieutenant Commander, and when I ask you to report, it is not a request. What do you have down there? If it is nothing I need be concerned with at present, I have a priority target for you to hunt.”

He woke up to a sharp beep. His communicator flashes relentlessly, fortunately this little nap was enough to soothe his nerves. The droid even applied some bacta-gel to his bruises. ,,Seems like we got the Intel on the Queen from the "Governor". It's show time!" He quickly looks around, but no critical cases, he and the 2-1B medical droid treated them all, now they only have to rest. ,,Thanks Tubby! I'm leaving them in your manipulators. The Queen has an audience with the Inquisitor and me." Time to meet him.

Rolling his eyes, Hawk slaps the button on his belt, sending a prerecorded message.

"Reporting in, what is my mission?"

The Good Doctor's communicator would beep signifying a Call was coming in, it was the Inquisitor, When he would answer "Meet me at her cell, with the information the Governor has given us I intend to break her." He said menacing as ever, Evon would notice he was wearing the Pirate Queen's mask for the interrogation, the notes did say she was attached to the item so perhaps he was trying to gloat with the item?

When the interrogation team arrives at her cell, the pirate queen is unable to suppress a shudder, when she sees the Inquisitor wearing the mask. “It calls to you too, then. It has a story to tell, if you are foolish enough to listen. But me? I have no stories to tell. And I certainly will not help you find the girl.”

Easing into the interrogation mind set, Evon prepares himself foe the forth coming session. Though he doesn't show any visible sign, the sight of the mask on the Inquisitor deeply disturbs him and he's sure the brother feels it.

The queen adresses it too, but it's beyond Evon's understanding. ,,She seems confident and it's pretty convincing so far, let's see if she can keep it up."

,,Let's see how she likes the Death stick!"
Evon moves forward, taking an already prepared needle from his belt and closes on the queen. ,,We can start as soon as I administer this dose. Don't woryy I won't poison you, we need you.... for now."
