I suspect this will BE the Hoth core set. All Hoth-hats, all the time. Combine with Atgar's and T-47's and Chewbacca if you want an all-Hoth army. All we'd need is a commander.

I think you have talked about painting up the generic commander in Hoth colors?

Gideon Argus? Yeah he'll work pretty ok for it. Hopefully we'll get a Reikan or Luke/Han/Leia in Hoth gear or someone though. Cassian in his parka would be a good option too. I could see them releasing Luke or Han on a tauntaun to kill several birds with one stone. You get a big alien horse, you get a snowy rebel commander, you get an alternate main hero, all for one slot in the production line.

I mean, I've painted up 5 squads of troopers and 3 AT-RT pilots and Luke in Hoth colors but it's just not the same.

The empire has snowtroopers, e-webs, Vader, Veers and AT-ST's with which to make a full Hoth/snowy army without even getting into optional paint schemes for things. Rebels ought to have the same option for us hardcore ESB fans.

Rebels now have all the peripheral pieces in place vis a vis the assorted wookies, the speeder and the radar cannon. If all the Scariff guys are wearing their sometime-hothy bits, all we need is a commander or two.

Anyone wanting a so-very-Scarif-Christmas-extravaganzo could mix troopers and pathfinders to model that very effectively.

I just hope they're corps not specials. But they seem like non-corps.

So what Heavy Weapons do we think the Pathfinders will have?

Gressen, that is a possibility, but Blaze was not a Pathfinder, he was just working with them. Personally, I would rather see Blaze as an Operative that just the heavy option for Pathfinders :D

Well, the write up says they are special forces. You could always just use them in place of corps rebels, not sure if other players would mind that much if you were to use different minis as long as the stats/rules were the normal corps.

In any event, I hope they work out as being all (or nearly all) Hoth geared. I also continue to hope that you get true Hoth themed corps and commanders! (I would get them as well in a heartbeat, even if I am not as concerned about theme :D ) I mean, if they gave Rebels Hoth corps, it would allow them to give Imperials Naval Troopers corps, which a number of other people want to see.

The Naval troopers would have competition from shore troopers (fitting the R1/scarif theme) and (mimban) swamp troopers for that corps slot.

The Hoth trooper corps would have (I guess) Saw's renegades/partisans to compete with. Hopefully we'll eventually get several of the options.

I kind of like the eclectic rag-tag look of the pathfinders, it gets across some of the desperate resource state of the Rebel Alliance, and alternatively hints of a bit of elite status in being allowed to choose their gear from individual preference.

Plus I really like the Star Wars-ified M1 helmet, so I'd hope for one or two of those in the mix.

And I say that as someone who is working on a full Hoth-themed army.

Neat. If you put in https://fantastyflightgames/en/product/ and then the SWL33 after the slash the link redirects to image.png.38c15a72f8d27a5b0eb896b2e92be908.png

True, but I say give us them all! (Shore Troopers, Mud/Imperial Army Troopers, Imperial Navy Troopers, Hoth Troopers, Saw's Partisans). I will buy all of them!

No argument there.

Nice! Krennic and Death troopers are definitely a must for me. (SWL34 spits out Death Troopers)

FFG has been awfully quiet today.

like they are saving something for a big drop right before the weekend? :)

I can't find any detailed write up.

Well when they come out, if they are corps and all wear all-Hoth patterned items as sculpted, to indicate that they are going to be our snow option, I'll buy 6. In any other event I'll buy zero.

Or like we caught them off guard and they dont want to release an article until next week.

Someone quoted the more detailed write ups back on the first page (another person provided a link to a European site that posted about the two and has a more detailed write up if you click for each of the two expansions).

Well, if they are special forces and in all-Hoth gear, you could still get one set to give you a special forces option in Hoth gear?

So I'm going to assume, after reading that product description, that Jyn is a Commander because she "led" the raid on Scarif. Probably has some rules to synergize with whatever deployment shenanigans the Pathfinders can do. Kinda "meh" about more troopers but could be fun mechanics with these two.

I think those that are gushing about Krennic/Deathttoopers after this are probably correct. Would make sense. Although I would chuckle if they released Shoretroopers instead of Deathtroopers. Lol

As for the rest of the Rogue One crew, I would guess that Cassian Andor would be an Operative. Cant really think of any Imperial counterparts to him from Rogue One so perhaps they will start releasing more of the classic bounty hunters as Operatives.

more bounty hunters--Bossk to chase wookies!

Why?

Sucks hard. Don’t like the any of the rebel characters or animation style and frankly it’s too much kiddie stuff in so many levels. All SW animations are big no no everall to me. But that’s my opinion.

Would love me some Death Troopers & Krennic, too.

I want the rest of the characters in personnel pack that also works as a full unit

Dooku and Maul aren't that bad though, are they? And Jango?

I'd imagine they'd get whatever the Rebel equivalent of an HH-12 is (which might be an HH-12). They shot one at an AT-ACT in the movie (which it shrugged off IIRC).

Exactly what I was thinking- time for the Rebel rocket launcher.

Give it like 2b 1r with a surge to crit built in. And like impact 1.

It almost like children/teenagers were the target market of the cartoons... ?

But you are perfectly welcome to your opinion. I for one am looking forward to the Clone Wars stuff, and wouldnt mind seeing Rebels characters brought in to Legion.

I am a bit surprised they went with Jyn first given the announced Cassian live action series, but I am going to assume he and K-2S0 are coming soon.

I really hope that when they develop the looks for their clone wars era armies they inspire in episodes from the prequels and not clone wars animated toons. Just because the final result would be cartoony, similar to what has happened with Imperial Assault minis inspired in rebels series... ezra, sabine, kanan... they all look way too cartoony compared to other IA minis.

I really hope not. The big selling point of Pathfinders isn't Hoth hats, it's the newer Czerka combat helmets. A 4/2 split helmets to hats, or 3 helmets, 2 hats, and a bare head would be my hope. Or failing that, all Czerka. If they want to do Echo Base troopers better they do them as their own box.
