Is anyone else really annoyed that a clause for handcuffs seems to be needed on just about every custom thing we make?

:.thumbs up:: probably it's our fault, since we keep on boosting the poor cultists ::laughter:: anyway, handcuffs are probably the only common item I don't like at all. Even if it's great :-)

In fact, you like it as a player, but not as a keeper :)

Very true ;-)

Well, yeah, but, um...

YEAH!

::Sigh:: well, the problem is Cultists are the best monster for customizing as a proxy and...

Mumble grumble... Stupid handcuffs.

Yeah I'm pretty sure cultists were meant as a blank slate type monster that was supposed to be altered by ancient ones more than any other monster, and when you include Black Goat monsters they make up close to 10% of the monster population.

How about a herald with only 2 powers 1: when x is the herald remove handcuffs from the common item deck 2: in any game where the ancient one or a herald alters cultists X must be used as an additional herald.

If you give it a hello kitty picture, I'll consider using it ;')

SPIDER GAMES

All boards in play

Investigators: Joe, Finn, Roland, Mary, Marie & Michael

Time for Scenario 12 today. It was a long time since my latest game in this league, but it was a Scenario requiring time and a *lot* of care. The main problem - I thought innocently - was the spider infestation at the beginning of the game. I wasn't scared of the corruptions (the error made in Scenario 11, when I made all investigators start with a corruption AND thus triggering another corruption every time the moon moved taught me enough things on how to deal with them) but of the spider and the spider copies swarming around the town. Poor me, I couldn't imagine what was going to happen. The set-up was rather good, with Roland starting with Legrasse and Ancient Language, Joe with the Flamethrower and all the others with decent stuff, including an ES. So, Mythos zero, Independence Square, all Leng Spiders moving, 2 corruptions activating, making 2 other corruptions to be discarded and Joe earning a new one. Joe had two marvellous little spiders just in front of his starting locations, so he went out, killed the first with the Flamethrower, and the second one with his gun. A couple of lcues spent to avoid losing Sanity, and a couple of good rolls to avoid Injuries because of the Overwhelming ability of the spiders, and voilà. Mary rolled a 6 to evade the copy-spider in the Southside street and entered French Hill, harvesting the third spider. The fourth one was in the Northside streets, but neither Finn nor Roland dared to enter fight with it, since they didn't possess any weapon. Good for Finn, who grabbed 10 bucks at the bank, becoming Wanted. Michael went for a clue and an encounter at the Silver Twilght Lodge, where he was invited to join the order, obtaining a good escort to the streets. Marie went spell shopping and get a Spectral Razor (even ghosts need to shave, I suppose ::laughter: :) A good first round, with 3 out of 4 spiders roasted, and the fourth one on the way.

Then Mythos One served on a silver plate the marvellous rumour: Riot. Hahaha. Fortunately, the Leng spider moved again, reaching Joe. The wraith emerged from Independence square in the previous round landed on Mary and Joe. Finn moved, bypassed the copy-spider in the Center streets and reached the Northside streets to sacrifice 5 stamina. Michael followed and then Marie, and the rumor was passed; in the mean time, Mary evaded the Wraith and the subsequent spider copy, entered combat with the last Leng spider and killed it. The streets were cleaned, but I had almost all investigators suffering from low Stamina and low Sanity. Time to gather some hearts and new brains, but these things require time and I was able to enter the first gate only after Mythos 5. At that time, I had Woods, Independence Square, Unvisited Isle (Another Simension openend under Michael's feet when he had only four clues... grrr) and Cold Sprign Glen with gates. Roland was the toughest guy of the moment, having his PS passed, a press pass and generating clues like a windmill in a hurricane + an Elder Sign and Find Gate (which is a good thing to have especially with Ancient Language), but he was a Jelous guardian, so no way to make all this stuff reach other players' hands. He stopped by the Train Station, hoping in a Bill Washington or similar encounter, to reach a gate and jumped into it, but unfortunately he heard the call "All aboard for Kingsport station". Three dice to roll to avoid going in another city and obviously zero successes were scored. He had to stop in the Kingsport streets, and a Wraith and a Byakee landed on his head during the following Mythos. In the following round, he was able to evade the Wraith but not the Byakee, so he lost another round in Kingsport. Then he finally was able to return to Arkham and enter Leng, only to get LiTaS on the first OW encounter ::laughter:: not a lucky day for Roland. In the meantime, Finn sealed Cold Spring Glen, but other two gates opened in Dunwich, one at Gardners Place and the other one at Wizard Hill. All other investigators, fortunately, were able to collect enough clues to start dealing with gates properly. New Mythos: Mad bomber (yeeeh!! never had both of them in the same game)

Fortunately, Finn was very reach at that moment (having something like 19 bucks) but he was still in Cold Spring Glenn, playing poker with a Deep One and with just one point of Sanity. IN order to deal immediately with the rumor, he had to maximize his speed and thus leaving only two dice for evading the monster. It worked. Rumor passed on the first round, everyone got 2 clues. All investigators with enough clues jumped into OWs; the first one to return to Arkham was Roland, who sealed Wizard Hill and entered Gardners Place the following round. Mary sealed Independance Square, Marie the Unvisited Isle, Michael the Silver Twilight Lodge and finally Roland sealed Gardners Place. 6 seals on the board, Atlach was beaten (in 12 Mythos).

The game was fun and really intense in the very first round (even if the major damages were done by the Riots rumor); as soon as the spiders were removed from the game, the game became a "normal" Atlach game, with the major facilitation that, with 20 unstable location, it's not too a difficult thing being able to control the board. In fact, I was very lucky since no seal bursted in the whole game.

Stop keeping the board under control Julia ;'D And congrats.

Thx ;-) I didn't think I'd have been able to beat this on the first try, but hey ;-) I'm glad it happened. This means I'm still unbeaten against Atlach (6 games so far, 6 victories, 5 by sealing, 1 by closing), which is something I'm very proud of (and now that I've said this, my record is going to break ::sigh: :)

As for your kind request... I love controlling the board lengua.gif

;') Well, I can guarantee you I'm going to boost the difficulty of the last scenario in the third segment. No more burying threats on the first turn for you! I keep worrying that the stuff will be too hard for people and you make mincemeat out of the scenarios! Even Atlach!

Man, I'm the only one who survived Scenario 1 (at least, of those I'm aware of, sorry if I forgot somebody), I do really think it's already the hardest League ever played (and there won't be anything harder in the years to come, believe me). I'm just on a very lucky streak with Arkham, I've never lost a Julia-only game this year. So, no need to extra boosting for something that's already hard (after all, you're designing the game I have to beat, and not trying to kill me! ::laughter:: believe, I'm definitely excited for this league, and happy with the actual difficulty level)

Well I haven't delved into it yet. I finally got Dunwich but it came with a baby who is sucking up a lot of my free time.

Well I've been playing for over 3 years I started with a friends set he owned Dunwich from the beginning since I'd played with Dunwich before I put off buying it till I had gotten the other big boards.

Heh... have you learned from your mistakes?

Hey I had a lot of fun with Innsmouth as my first expansion. gran_risa.gif

It's so weird to think that you just got Dunwich. I always think of you as an old-timer ;'D

strange indeed. Though, it seems to be out of print now... so people will get the other boards before this one.

Congratulation for the baby. I am expecting another one too in the coming days... gui%C3%B1o.gif

Congratulations to you too, and good luck they do a bigger number on your sanity than Cthulhu once sleep deprivation kicks in.

Don't worry, there is always space for OT stuff (the real spice of Arkham life :-)), and... yeeeeh! Congrats :-)
