Hi.
I'm lurking since a long time ago on that topic. I translated stuff in french (in fact only rules stuff for the first scenario, i ignored the thematic stuff, shame on me... But i read it once) and i was trying to understand the right way how the things are going in the first scenario.
You wrote, in résumé, "No Kingsport, Yes to Dunwich and Innsmouth". What about the small extensions? Ignore them too or the more the merrier?
About the modifications on the monsters:
- The Vampire (the one from Arkham Horror) becomes Awareness -3; Horror -2/2; Combat -3/3; Toughness 4; Flying - Physical Immunity - Undead - Back to Graveyard if beaten.
- The Undeads (from everywhere) improve Horror Check -2 and gain Toughness +2
- The Cultists and Maniacs (Dark Druid and Child of the Goat are in that category too, aren't they?) become Awareness -3; Horror -2/2; Combat -3/3; Toughness 2; Undead - Spawn - Physical Resistance - Restless (what's happening for the Maniac when Terror reaches level 6? Still Toughness +2?)
- All the other monsters improve Horror Check -2.
I guess those who haven't Horror Check still don't have one?
Death grants +1 to Sneak test but Janus implies doing 2 tests each time?
I guess Death power about being devoured if cursed twice apply every time, sleeping or fighting?
Thanks a lot.
I'd would advise against playing Kingsport's board. (Although, spoiler alert, there are actually a few scenarios that will use it). Julia uses it anyways, but that's okay ;') I'm not too uptight about these sorts of things. I don't think it will particularly matter. The main reasons I did away with it is A) I dislike it B)I wanted to undilute the mythos deck a little more, so Dunwich and Innsmouth would be more active and C)I dislike it oh wait, no, I meant I wanted to do away with the exploit that allows infinite doom token removal.
Play with everything else if possible. Otherwise you're going to be missing parts of the league. If you're missing just a bit here or there (let's say you're missing CotDP or KiY), improvise as best you can, or let me know and I'll come up with some alternate solution.
I guess I'm glad the stuff's being translated... But... It'd be nice if you found someone who could translate the story too. I think it'll be a much more enjoyable experience with it (and let's face it, it's considerably less time consuming translating than plotting out and writing a 24 scenario story).
I haven't seen the scenario for nearly a year... So you'd know it better than I would. Your translation sounds basically right. All types of cultists and maniacs are just treated as a regular vampire (the whole game). Only the original vampire monster token has strongly amplified powers.
I don't think there are any other monsters in that scenario without horror checks (what else is there? Just a mask I think?)
I would just say all monsters improve their horror check by -2.
Slumbering Ancient One powers apply before and during final combat.
"Restless " ?
Anyway... Looking back in the Fan Creation League website. A lot of these points regarding cultists were explicitly discussed in clarifications?
