It is a time of peace. It is a time of tyranny. The intergalactic EMPIRE holds dominion over the known galaxy. The idea of a REBELLION is only beginning to take shape within a few leaders of the Galactic Senate. One such man is BAIL ORGANA.

A few weeks ago ORGANA’s contingent lost contact with one of their leaders, a female named BRITANA MERRSCOL who had been traveling along the Hydian Way with an unknown purpose. MERRSCOL and her small crew of three others had been traveling with an unknown purpose. There have been concerns that MERRSCOL maybe a Imperial spy working with the Imperial Security Bureau…..there have been rumors that MERRSCOL maybe a powerful Force User…..

Through his contacts ORGANA has put together a team of his cell members and hired hands to find MERRSCOL (and crew) and discover what exactly her motivations are….

With only a very light distress beacon to go off, the team ORGANA has put together find themselves emerging from hyperspace around the corrupted planet known as DATHOMIR…

This posting is in regards to possible interest/recruitment thread for a play by post game set roughly 9 years BBY.

The story/session will be a modified version of the Spirits of Madness Modular Encounter from the Dawn of the Rebellion era sourcebook.

A few notes:

1.) The group will consist of 3-5 PCs who are either hired by/a member of/or ally of a rebel cell led by Bail Organa. The Rebellion consists of individual ‘cells’ with very little contact, organization, or affiliation with one another.

2.) This is at the height of the Empire’s reign or tyranny of the known Galactic Universe. Vader and his Inquisitors have done an excellent job snuffing out any serious threats.

3.) Character creation will be from only AoR + EotE using RAW from those core rulebooks. Characters will have an additional 30 experience post character creation to add on. (IE: the 30 additional experience can only be used for skills, careers, talents).

4.) We will be using the DUTY mechanic with a starting number of 15 DUTY for each PC for now.

5.) You may use gear/talents/careers/specializations from other books within AoR and EotE, just don’t go crazy with it since I personally only own the Core Rulebook of AoR and have access to EotE.

6.) Disclaimer: There will be an ENCOUNTER of some sorts with an Iconic NPC. What that ENCOUNTER is and how it plays out is entirely up to you. The Iconic NPC is from DAWN OF THE REBELLION and has pretty powerful stats….so this is a warning ahead of time.

7.) The group Rebellion Resource: Commandeered Lambda Class-Shuttle (page 273 AoR core), with one 74-Z Speeder Bike in its cargo hold (The Speeder Bike may hold up to two small/medium sized people very similar to Luke and Leia from ROTJ, pg 263 AoR core).

Hmm, sounds interesting enough, I'm game. Time to resurrect an old character then.

As for rolling, Orokos works.

If you're accepting complete newbies to Pbp, I'd like to toss my hat in. I'm primarily GM (also new at that) so I don't have a character in mind, but I'm willing to build one for any role the party needs.

Satkatz and oneeyedmatt87, would love to have both of you guys.

@oneeyedmatt87 at this point play whatever you want/would have the most fun with since nothing is set in stone.

Mind if I can dump the Duty to 0 to get +10 XP at character creation? Also, are we limited to the standard 500 credits for gear?

Sure you can drop down to 0 duty to get plus 10 exp

You guys can start with 15 duty overall. I’m looking for at least three PCs. If we only get three this will go up to 20. Standard 500 credits for gear.

I would love to be in this adventure, I'm coming back into online RP and think this would be an exciting chance to do so. If there's room, I can start crafting my character immediately. Thank you for posting this.

Satkaz: Character looks great. Walter Albright has been approved for the Rebel Alliance cell led by Bail Organa.

Made some edits to the original post.

1. Added Rebellion Resource: Commandeered Lambda Class-Shuttle (page 273 AoR core), with one 74-Z Speeder Bike

2. Changed Fel Trech (Human, Male) to Britana Merrscol (Human, Female) to reflect the plot story changes in the opening crawl.

3. Added that Britana Merrscol has a crew of three others for a total of four who went missing. Main goal is to find Britana and discover her motivations. Secondary Goal is to find out what happened to her other three crew members.

4. Added that Orokos.com will be the games official dice rolling database.

5. We officially have three players who have showed interest so far, which is enough to start the game. A current roster section of the original post has been created along with character information. Satkaz, oneeyedmatt97, Jaryk Xira (Who is a new user and is waiting upon Moderator approval of their account to post). The game has room for two more players, and at the moment waiting for two more character sheets :).

Update: I'm probably going to start everyone with a additional plus 2 in wound threshold as if Duty has been triggered for the session due to the encounter with the iconic npc.

Been touching base with Jaryk Xira over PM and they are looking to make a Mandalorian Bounty Hunter/Gadgeteer.

If we only get 2-3 players, I am probably going to fill the void with NPC characters who are apart of the 'rescue/cell' team. To make sure that there at least 4-5 members of this team trying to find out the whereabouts of Britana Merrscol and her missing crew.

If I have to add some NPCs to the team, I am open to suggestions for what their careers/species/specializations will be.

Mon Cal medic. I put him together with OggDudes's, so I'm not sure if we can drop the duty to 0 to get both +10xp and 1000 credits.

If I made any glaring errors, please let me know. I'm usually rolling up NPCs rather than PCs, so I'm a bit rusty.

Also, if you guys think the 1 in cunning is going to be a millstone, I can drop the brawn to 2 and bump up the cunning. That may also alleviate the duty issue above.

Going to send you some feedback on the character. For the most part it looks great. Wanted to remind you.

  • You start with 30 additional experience to be used post CC. Meaning you can use them on talents, skills, specializations/careers, but not attributes.
  • You can definitely drop duty to 0 in order to obtain 10 experience and 1,000 additional starting credits.
  • Cunning of one is okay. Kalu is a military intelligent military medic. As someone who personally works in the health industry I don't really use my deception or coercion to treat my patients lol. At least I hope not. Walter Albright (Satkaz) has a cunning of three so that should be able to balance the group out. That is not even taking into account what the other two players who have showed interest so far are planning to make.

You have 5 more duty open to you for spending. I increased the starting duty to 15 to reflect the scale of the enemies. Other than that, it looks great! This is turning out to be an interesting party....Ace Pilot, Soldier Medic, Hired Gun Merc Soldier :)

(Somewhere on the world of Dathomir, 9.5 years BBY)

Form IV….Ataru…Maul had perfected this fighting technique from Its former master….the same master who had left It dead nearly 12 years ago. The images of Darth Sidious besting It (along with Savage Opress) on the planet Mandalore brought about feelings of shame…..and RAGE.

Opening It’s eyes, the creature known as Maul found Itself being fueled by the dark side. Every now and then horrible memories of Sidious would plague It. But at a beckons call, Maul would return to Palpatine without any hesitation, there is no doubt.

Maul had killed the Jedi Master Qui Gon Jinn on the planet of Naboo. The Pinnacle of Its career as a Sith Apprentice. Back then It was young. It was vibrant. It was quick, athletic, full of life, and full of hate. Now 20 years after the Trade Federation’s invasion of Naboo, Maul had not aged well. What was once a creature in Its prime, Maul was now considered middle-aged. The Zabrak’s face was haggard, It’s bones frailer, It’s muscles withering…

If it wasn’t for cybernetic legs that had been installed years ago to replace the lower half of his body that had been transversely cut by Kenobi…Maul would potentially be considered an old relic of the Force. It had not taken care of It’s body as best as It could. It was unable to take care of It’s mind.

BUZZ!

Maul let out a deep scream as It violently sliced a boulder in two to finish off the training routine

The creature known as Maul flung a recently forged double-bladed lightsaber across the cave. A depressing dwelling if you were to ever find one. For what lived in caves? Creatures. Animals. Exactly what Maul had become.

Despite these things, Maul could still be considered more powerful than 90% of the sentinent entities that existed in the known galaxy. A testament to the power of the Force. A testament to the power of the dark side.

The hatred was caused by one man. A Jedi by the name of Obi Wan Kenobi. Rage. Hate. Malice. In some senses Maul despised life because of Kenobi. Ironically, it was Kenobi that kept Maul alive after It’s failures. Kenobi had given Maul a reason to live.

It was a hatred for Kenobi that inspired Maul to form the Crimson Dawn. It was the malice for Kenobi that provided Maul with a desperation to find a Jedi Holocron. It was the anger It felt towards Kenobi that motivated Maul to eventually have a purpose.

Revenge. Destruction. Murder.

The Crimson Dawn was the perfect tool to fulfill Maul’s plans. For it dare not leave Dathomir in fear that Darth Sidious or even worse Darth Vader would determine Its presence.

Hopefully the member of BRITANA MERSCOL’s crew had delivered on their promise. Otherwise months of planning on the behalf of the Crimson Dawn would have been for not. The thought of not being able to corrupt BRITANA’s soul brought Maul back to madness.

“YARRRGH!” The lightsaber came back into Maul’s hands and a new training routine began.

I totally forgot about the 30 xp!

I got the first rank of vigilance, and picked up forager, another stimpack specialization, and bacta specialist.

I also made an error with my soak and wound threshold (forgot to add the +1 for 3 brawn) so I fixed those.

@satkaz @NovaGman Anyone want to brainstorm connections between PCs? I mean, it's easy to either rescue an inprisioned doctor or be saved by one that's turned medic! :)

Wouldn't be hard to say Walter was the pilot who managed to fly you out of imprisonment.

Managed to touch base with Zalgondr earlier and they told me they had just joined two games and wont be able to commit to this one.

We still have one roster spot open but enough to start the game.

Added Kalu to the original post/character roster this marking he has been approved.
