Dodge/Cover does not cancel surge to hits right?

By HanScottFirst, in Rules

That is correct right?

Because you roll dice, apply dodge/cover. THEN attacker modifies, then defender modifies. I imagine modifying is rerolling and surge conversion?

So stormies rolling surges would hypothetically then convert those to hits AFTER dodge and cover.

No this is incorrect. Take a look at Attack in the RRG on pg 14.

The order is:

1. Roll Attack Dice
2. Reroll Dice
3. Convert Attack Surges
4. Apply Dodge and Cover
5. Modify Attack Dice (Impact, Guardian, etc)

Surge is one of the things thats going to trip people up for abit.

Surges are not a modifier, they are considered part of the "roll dice' step and are the last thing you do before moving to cover/dodge.

Ahhhh got it. I'm too used to X-Wing where focus and target locks are in the modify dice step.

Thanks!
