I was way off. No Rey, cuz I kept getting her killed in test games. There was a BB-8, Poe, though. That won.
That was me. Tiny Trials ftw.
I played against Rey today. Ooooph. That survivability is pure awful. (As in bad)
I for one can’t wait for the contrition podcasts where the hosts say they were wrong about Sun Fac

Except they weren’t wrong. It is just a very matchup dependent and dice dependent list. Sun Fac is still a NPE in the right matchups.
Amazing that the Star Viper player managed to make it to top 4 while only playing one game in 13 rounds.

Was it not clear that the Nantex/Sunfac/Ensnare contention was with it being NPE, and not about it being OP? Because I remember writing and reading that several times.
So are you now also talking about NPE and how the hosts were wrong to say that it's an NPE?

Hey, congratulations! I made cut in our Trial but made another first round exit. I played terribly all day though and didn’t deserve to do as well as I did.
So, with the variety at Worlds, it seems like Hyperspace is in a bit of a bad place now, like extended-lite and too big to meet the goal of helping new players into the game.

I think it was his playstyle? Like refusing to engage? Not sure, though.

It’s been that way for a while, though I’m not sure how the variety at Worlds indicates this.

I guess I think of it as the nail in the coffin for hyperspace as there were still some people that preferred it. There was a lot of variety in the Top 8 at Worlds (and top 64), which is different than prior to the last points change, after which I don't think there were a lot of big extended tourneys.

I don’t like playing against this list does not equate to a list being NPE. The group think in this thread and on high profile podcasts does not reflect the global community.
The ship is presented as so dumb and good you would be an idiot to play anything else. Then the last one gets nuked from cut at top 64. Seems like the rhetoric overstated the issues with the ship.

That’s a misunderstanding in what NPE stands for more than anything.
What a few people claim is that the ship is not fun to play against.
What other people claim is that it means it’s over powered.
Neither have a place in a balanced game.
The Nantex probably isn’t over powered. It’s tricky to make it shine, but a few people can make it do some impressive stuff. It dies when you make a mistake. That said, it creates such a depressing scenario on the mat when you’re hard countered by it. That feeling of helplessness. That’s the not-fun scenario that I myself am concerned about.

Literally every list has that. A Tie swarm faced with trajectory simulator, a Guri that gets outbid, a mid initiative list paired against hot aces. Every list has a matchup that is hopeless or hard to win. It’s not limited to Sun Fac or Any other single piece.

Congrats, man! When we encounter again, I'll still use *almost made cut at World's and highest performing Supernat* over you, because I'm petty. Though if we're being honest, Phil H. would have made cut and then some with my list, but he's caught up in Keyforge.
To avoid double posting, so glad that Oli won it! Can't wait for the next 186th podcast (where I learned how to fly as to not give a Fac about Sun). Also, Imp victory at the game's 1st World's! It seems so long because if we count the game's predecessor's World's, it is the first Imp win since the first World's! And discounting the Inky, all ships in the final were 1.0 Wave 4 or earlier. Very classic!

Not entirely true as now you’re talking an entire list instead of a single ship. The senate combo by itself can make a match unfun, win or lose.
You are correct though... hard counters in general are unfun. Note, that’s been a consistent complaint of a few of us.
Edit: senate? That was supposed to be ensnare
Edited by LagJansonWorlds was super fun, swiss to for the most part. Had lots of great games and learned a huge amount about my list which I look forward to continuing practicing with.
Big congrats to Oli for winning and DT for getting to the final with one of the cooler rebel lists I have seen. Both players seem to be great representatives for X-Wing.
One thing is still bugging me though on my way home from Worlds.
Why do some players get legitimately angry or mad while playing games of X-Wing?
Its not hugely prevalent but its common enough that I noted it in several games either as a participant or observer. Fewer in game Hux impressions would be nice. After the game do what you want man, I get it the game can be frustrating. Some people have different personalities to and wind up easy. But during games...its really important to dial back the emotions way way back about dice, winning/losing, and whatever else happens. Dont put that frustration on others, just deal with it. Your opponent isnt there to provide therapy. That doesnt mean dont try or dont take it semi seriously. Also doesnt mean you cant complain later or be mad at specific ship/card designs. Mainly just pointing out that the game is a lot more fun when we all relax a bit more focus and save our energy while we are actually playing.
If you ever get rekt by a bad dice roll or some good decisions by an opponent or bad decisions of your own, maybe take a deep breath and think about monkeys eating grapes.

Amen brother. I don't get why we can't have a laugh no matter what while playing with plastic ships
My anedoctile experience is that it's getting worse and worse, tournaments used to be more wholesome a couple of years ago

Congratulations to both! It would be amazing if they (or someone capable) did a post-mortem of their lists and their matches.

Yeah. There’s even barely any announcement at all of the winnings

Dude, it is Sunday here in the states. Any articles will be out tomorrow at the earliest... Most likely a single combo article covering both X-Wing and Destiny worlds.

🤨 I did right after the handshake. In this thread. I think you missed it, though I did leave out what I assumed was an obvious point of reference.
