Edit:

1st party: This 2-die gun with optics is an accurate 2-die gun.

2nd party: "it's not better than 3-die focus"

1st party: It's close enough, given what I want to do.

2nd party: I disagree, because I like 3 die guns.

3rd party: REEE - IT'S NOT THE SAME THING. IT'S NOTABLY worse, which is a clearly defined metric we all understand, and is the only metric relevant to all lists, win conditions, and game states at all times.

Recently I had a guy roll a /LN into range one because he felt it was more valuable than focusing. That accidentally blocked a sloop. I was so angry that his reasoning was wrong but the outcome was correct.

Am I one of the parties?

I like parties.

Aren't they the same ish?

2F = 1.5

3 no F = 1.5

And yes that's hilarious with the blocked sloop, so it was right for wrong reasons.

Baked Potato X-Wing. You cannot outsmart the baked potato because it has no plan, it does baked potato things. The greatest danger is outsmarting yourself.

There are times it can be more valuable. Sometimes you need to get that one higher maximum hit, and that's worth the slightly worse performance of going unfocused.

But I'm willing to bet the roller wasn't in that situation though. :(

Well, I suppose that's better than his getting rewarded via natties. Plus, ge might have learned a lesson in blocking.

As an aside, if Afterburner Mithel was a thing hipsters made work in small tourneys, does targeting PC carry value on him? 3 fewer pts, synergy with Palp/coordinate, etc.

No.

TL action < two free boost.

I tried Afterburner Mithel. A meme, but is like being scared of mice.

Unfortunately, mice that are more expensive that straight-up TIE Interceptors :(

I've tried it and it failed fantastically. Then again, I5 is quite valuable and I don't feel like I leveraged it well since I messed up my engagement anyway.

Yeah me too. I've tried it and failed fantastically too.

I don't think its really worth trying more.

Might honestly be better off with Fifth Brother for 42pts. Maarek is 45.

For the value I got (nearly none), I probably would have actually been fine with just having a reaper for 39.

When will Dash be playable?

Dash has only two states - Unplayable or broken AF.

The FO version of the DT list is probably the most legit use of non-Kylo wave 6, but in case you want to try something a bit more ace-y, the new Avengers of Frenchiboi, 1-eye comic character, Cortana, and Pizzabox are a pretty lit squad.

99% true. I think a Lone Wolf/Kanan Dash is totally casual-night playable. Add Bistan gunner, pair with an R2-D2 Luke, and you can have a fun afternoon at the FLGS.

Seems like "Playable" is one of those words with a lot of different meanings, like "Bad."

I think in the context of this thread, "Playable" means competitively viable at a premier event (System Open, Prime, etc). That's the way I infer it, anyway.

To be sure, but this is also a thread where "Bad" aces are "Playable."

4 ship FO without Kylo seems like a bold strategy

Honestly, in my opinion Dash was only broken AF when they allowed a frankly ridiculous interaction for which all of the parts were underpriced anyway. I7 double-tap on one target? I mean come on. If the Ghost's primary was a turret weapon it would have been even more broken there. It still would have been broken on any YT1300.

He's about as fragile as a Jumpmaster, and not substantially more maneuverable. He has fewer blue options, and while he can turn right, he's always starved for actions. Either he can't reposition, or he's stressed. He has to choose between modding attack or defense. The only double-tap build starts at 14 points and can't attack the same ship twice.

I have yet to hear any significant complaints about Dash from anyone who has actual experience with or against him in 2nd edition that is not Roark/Han Dash. Every time I push on it, the people who object ultimately admit they haven't played or played against him in 2.0 except Roark/Han Dash, and that does NOT count.

To be perfectly fair though, I think he's priced somewhere around correctly now. Still a hard pill to swallow and a ton of points that can disappear on one bad turn, but there's enough room for at least one competent wingman. Curious to see what this season in Extended turns out.

Dash? Extended?
