Ric Ollie hype around here was based on the memes. The character was a bit... odd... in Phantom Menace.

Clearly the hype online is more centered on what he can do, which I've yet to really get into yet. I see moments of greatness and also moments of great stupidity as somebody tries to force the ability. It'll be great!

i4 has been a pretty big deal last point season. I credit sigmas, inferno squad, and Braylen. Are there other common pilots at 4? Is that maybe another reason separatists are struggling? They are nearly entirely i1 and i3, outside of Maul and Grevious.

I don't know if that's the only problem, but it really can't help.

Both are fair, but playing enough Lulo and then Jedi makes me skeptical of his durability.

How do you build him? Obviously R2. Maybe fcs, for the arcdodging turn when he went too fast and has no shot? He would like one of the expensive passive talents (juke, outmaneuver, lone wolf), and all of that puts him at 53-55. Just enough to make him an actual decision.

For now he sounds fun to me, with maneuvers almost limited to 3 speeds (and that can be countered, which is awesome design!) and just every so often hitting a bit harder.

Edit: architect time! I'd first try something like this, maybe swap the r2 for an r4 to get a small bid. Get consistent 4 dice attacks with extra mods, and then run as soon as necessary

I was looking at something like this but im pretty sure its 2 or 3 cards less degenerate than it could be if it was Architected harder.

The N1 really likes to flank. Lone Wolf seems like it leans into that and solves the "problem" when you dont get a giant pile of Green Tokens if you 3 Talon.

Passive Plasma Torp Ani fits there to which seems super useful at 53 pts as well, but doesnt lean into the stated win condition of the republic factions not beef lists.

My beef with costing upgrades to where they would be good (Juke on phantoms or defenders) is that it creates list building traps for all the wannabe architects. I don’t want to keep winning on trash mountain because people are bad at list building, I want to have to outfly people.

List building traps is the mirror of too many passive mods, it just hits the other end of the bell curve. It still makes the game less fun.

Edit: beating people because you have 220 equivalent points and they have 200 isn’t super fun. Beating people because you have 200 and they have 180 equivalent also isn’t that fun.

Yeah I get that, but there's also always going to be listbuilding traps. Like, if they're ok with it, you should probably always help new players out with their lists. Because there's obvious major traps (i.e. wasted upgrades) like outmaneuver on turrets or something, but then there's also just weak lists that don't have a coherent win condition or engagement strategy (generally what I think of when I hear the word "architecture").

I hear Outmaneuver on a YV-666 can get you to 4-1 until you get on stream and someone tells you the rules.

I still think 6 point Regen is worth it on a 3 ago ship that goes fast and gets free evades even if he goes over clouds or rocks.

I can also agree with this. I hate it, and anybody who puts this on the map with intent to point fortress should be thrown into the largest, hottest volcano one can find, but I can agree.

Oh and I forgot Regen is only 4 points on Ric lol. If I really wanted to do as well as possible in the only-wins-matter SOS- style format, I'd take this list.

Yes, but similar argument against that: R4 and R4-P are already available and only rarely in a top list, if ever. I use both regularly, but I seem to be wrong.

Leia can do it all, sure, plus gets a force token on the carrier. My point is not that she's bad. My point is that she's not panic inducing for me. I don't see it yet.
