No! Fun will not be tolerated while functionally worthless trinkets are at stake! Do you not understand that sparkly versions of dice you already own are out there, ripe for the picking? Do you not grasp the unending urge to collect templates, tokens, and cards that look different than the ones you currently possess?

I was with you until that.

How dare you insult my sparklies! Insulting the boring black dice is fine, but not sparklies! Duel at dawn, with naked generic TIE Aggressors!

The black dice and the clear dice are far and away the best dice.

Fite me Friday.

The new Silencer model is cooler looking than the old one.

The color certainly is nicer, with the slightly lighter-than-black gray.

But I'm never going to buy one, since I want all my silencers to match.

i'd happily trade you my jumbo silencer model for a second ed one. Just saying.

Since I have always loved to fly Interceptor squads, I don’t understand... never have?

If the matching defense dice to the blacks were white, I may agree. All of them being black is meh. Though I'm sure the funnies will be provided if you force @Brunas to only play with them. They don't seem color blind friendly at all.

Colour I can paint. I agree that I'd want mine to match and my big boy is already painted. When the new one comes out, I may offer to subsidize people's purchase of them by buying the big ones off of them.

Already have my three, with a little black glitterpaint on the solar panels. :D

My TIE/fo and /sf all have white glitter paint on their solar panels, too. They had a bit of a sheen in the movie, so it seemed right.

I love the giant ones, but from a purely practical perspective, I'll definitely entertain a more modestly sized receptacle to avoid knocking stuff over as much.

That’s why you use 3 pegs, minimum. Or put a small to large conversion peg on an epic peg... oh dear, obi-wan really is going to have the high ground.

I often run a pair, so it's still less than practical.

I'm sorry, but being Chad is all that matters. I can repaint my own ****.

My colorblind source says they're the easiest to ID so far

So @Tlfj200, in our vassal game last night i saw something really interesting- something I never see locally and even only rarely at big events- namely, you were "willing" to win. I could tell from your opening posture that you simply wouldn't take the first chance you got to fly at me if you thought it wasn't to your advantage.

For example, I've got aces flying against our local TIE swarm guy. Even if it's a tournament with (small, but still) stakes on the line, he'll fly at me. He's not "willing" to just avoid the rocks by skirting the board edge or k-turning up and down the board all game. If he were, I'd be forced to come to him due to his final salvo dice.

I don't even think it's a matter of being a "tryhard" or not. We've got some of those and even they usually aren't willing to just deny unfavorable engagements and try again later.

Does anyone else have this experience? It's so rare for me to see my opponent with salvo or jousting advantage just refuse to engage while I try to tempt him into the rocks.

To elaborate, i was willing to engage... eventually. But I saw through the lies of the Qira and fangs - so, I just took a scenic route for a bit, knowing I could stay in the space a bit, loop around, and potentially catch you having to turn back around in the rocks.

That didnt materialize, as I [thought] I saw an earlier opportunity, but I failed to fully capitalize on what I saw (given you were able to threaten the turn in with your fangs a few turns, so I could just expose my sides if you actually did want to be aggressive).

On that note - you were the first person to NOT turn those fangs in against me, for what it's worth.

A very good game (in my book).

Interesting.

I played a fairly experienced squadron fella with a Jendon Bomber list a while ago, I was using Echo, Rex and Rhymer. He just straight up drove into the space I created with the obstacles. I won with a pretty low score and the guy kinda snarkily said he'd never known someone run away so much...

As if that was what I was doing :D

Surprised me that a decently experienced player even saw it that way.

He's never met someone so dishonorable.

Despicable.

Here is the typical X-Wing Player Path:

  • Novice:
    • Run directly at opponent with all ships from the same direction.
    • Re-Positions alot instead of modifying dice
    • Commits to an angle of attack immediately, sometimes unknowingly correct other times incorrect.
    • Primary Plan is to just go destroy all the other stuff
    • Works ok when opponent opts in and the list can joust, defend/soak damage, init kill, and use multi arcs all at the same time.
  • Average:
    • Run directly at opponent from multiple angles and occasionally range controls.
    • Splits forces up and able to arrive on a "spot/target" to overlap arcs.
    • Leans heavily on High Initiative, Alpha strikes, or HP Counts for defense to cover up mistakes
    • Primary Plan is still to just go destroy all the other stuff
    • Understands how useful blocking can be
    • Might run to time or attempt to preserve MOV in the end game, but doesn't try to create that situation intentionally.
  • Above Average Coward:
    • Waits for opponent to commit to a spot or fly through rocks.
    • Attempts to protect MOV or a joust advantage from the beginning of the game.
    • Often gets caught out by more direct players and is to patient.
    • Is only slightly more or less correct than Novice or Average players.
    • Doesn't understand exactly what good trades look like, unless identified before the game.
    • Does have a concept of "early game ships" and "end game ships". Keeps the closers alive.
    • Often lets part of their list commit directly to bad jousts with an opponents entire list.
    • Still Depends heavily on clear joust advantage or re-position advantage ( boost/roll or alt-arcs ).
    • Wins a decent # of games just by letting their opponent make mistakes.
  • Arc Knight:
    • Combination of above.
    • Waits and/or Moves swiftly to a spot that allows choice of angle or disengage or set up for options next turn(s).
    • Understands game pace, timing, and the concept of "good" trades.
    • Lets the game develop when it makes sense to, forces the game to change when necessary.
    • Wins alot of games by letting or forcing their opponent to make mistakes. Using the force is the key difference.
    • Mostly I only am able to do this against novice players, so I am pretty sure I am still bad at X-Wing.
