surely no one would spend 36 points to be able to reposition before moving to make it even more likely...

Not when they could have a Republic Quadjumper instead!

Supernatural cannot be played.

I think the last few weekends has clearly proven that.

That’s not his pilot ability, as @Sunitsa stated, you’re better off never using his pilot ability. Great pilot abilities one wants to proc as often as possible.

I mean, if you're down the the last incoming attack, and you're at full force, why not use Kylo's ability? :P

Meanwhile, I keep thinking about a Marksmanship Recoil with Kylo. With easier crits, maybe the threat of the ability is more of a deterrent.

And all said and done, I think that while Kylo with blank pilot text is still probably pretty solid, I wouldn't mind having had a better pilot ability. Like, they aren't going to change it, but what if Kylo could hand out his condition after attacking, as well? That could be sweet. He couldn't trigger it on the attack he makes, but still. Dodge arcs well enough, and it'll be worth using.

Um?

I was looking over all the force users and their abilities. I don't see one I wouldn't rather have. Heck, the new Jedi Knight seems better.

Why is Kylo such a force dud? Seems like in the movies he could stop laser blasts with a wave of his hand? I guess FFG doesn't like the angry teen emo character any more than the average SW fan. Guess they could make it: spend a force token and destroy the controls inside your own ship, issue yourself one face up damage card. That would fit just as good actually. At least it would be humorous.

To clarify, I meant with a hypothetical different Kylo ability where he could also spend a force *after attacking* to assign ISYTDS. If you're taking shots without return fire, spending force to assign nasty crits would be valuable.

no one could win a top 50 invitational with trash cards like kylo and supernatural.

This. Kylo is good. Despite going 0-5 at Krayt cup running F/O, all my games (except the last one) Kylo was the last ship on my side, and the game was virtually in deadlock, my opponent had a very hard time trying to kill Kylo, and most of those games went to time without killing him. Hate+ Primed thrusters is what I ran, and Kylo was super slippery. He also had freedom to joust, hate is a great safety net.

sure Kylos pilot ability is still mediocre with guaranteed crits in short supply (although it’s still leagues better than 1st edition), but I agree the chassis is good.

Now finding a list to fit him in is another matter, at least I’m having a hard time with it.

Speaking from someone’s article viewpoint, my opponents were not sold on Kylo as the main threat, and decided to eliminate the rest of my list before starting on him, which was the correct thing to do, but not the desired outcome of what I wanted. It was more failure on my part not to be more aggressive with him, which was the play style of the list, Trade Kylo for as much stuff in the early game as possible and let my SF cleanup in the late game, and as long as Kylo is still alive and in my opponents face he is a threat that has to be dealt with.

@phild0 apparently has changed his name to "no one". Now who's on third?

To expand my previous post a second time: Anakin with Ahsoka's ability would be bonkers!

I’ve been looking for better supporting tournament software since they announced points were going digital. I still want a better way to record player lists. BCP is not the answer...

Because it's worth repeating: tabletop.to

You can actually email their devs with questions and suggestions for improvements and they will reply quickly and adjust the software if warranted. I used them for a year as a TO and it was great.

I forgot how engaging old MMOs are -

They're called MUDs, you @#$% whipper-snapper.

I started looking at the data we have for now since the point change, excluding krayt cup due to its special rules.

485 different lists total.

Rebels have put most ships on the table (622), followed by resistance (401) and empire is pulled up due to swarms (364).
Looking at lists, these three have 169 (35%), 111 (23%), and 74 (15%). Scum is very close behind empire with 72 lists and FO had only 59 lists (12%). 20% would be expected with 5 perfectly equal factions. I'm especially surprised about Resistance as I'd have expected more, and also surprised about rebels as they were virtually non-existent before the points change.

A total of 22 different ships were used, which is basically all Hyperspace offers.
The T65 is - again - the most frequent ship and in 79% of all rebel lists. The Ywing gets second place at 63% and the Uwing at third with 41% in all rebel lists
Empire has TIE fighters in 74% of all lists, with x1 (Vader I guess, 60%) and Strikers at 38%.
Scum is mainly Fangs with 73% of lists having at least one, followed by firespray (59%) and TIEfighters (45%)
Resistance exists almost entirely out of T70 (82%) and RZ2s (75%).
First order still relies heavily on the SF (85%!) and the rest is almost perfectly split at around 44-42%.

Generics are catching up! 558 generics vs 1290 uniques, which is actually huge for generics! And a whopping 47 lists used only generics!

I'll keep at it

Good work sir...

I have a prognostication. Now I'm not smart, but, after really delving into the hot new R2A-Wings (with T-70s or just R2A's lists), I think Imperial TIEs are set for a real mothball status. maybe even Strikers too. After the initial engagement (which isn't easy nor a given you get one anyway), this is not a game a TIE pilot even wants to try to win, especially on the 75 minute timer. So, I think they'll fall out of your stats over the next few weeks. We'll see if I'm prophetic, or not.

...now where's my tea?
