I think to arrive at what I'm talking about, you'd have to find the participants of a given streamed game and ask them to do an after-action commentary.

Video doesn't seem strictly necessary. You could take pictures every phase and put together a good text/picture description/analysis of the game, which might actually be more useful than video. Readers could stop and look at pictures and think about what they would do before going on to the next bit.

I think the difference is you're looking for a sports-type post-game analysis, where I'm thinking more documentary type discussion.

I don't even want analysis, because that entails supposition that the analyst is correct. I'd want the participants.

That'd work, too.

I'm looking for players talking through their decision process in a game.

Our local club is doing videos of this ilk. 3 up so far, two of which feature people you’ve likely never heard of and one featuring Jack Mooney and Tom Reed. Check out the you tube channel.

I've seen those and love the concept. I do think the presentation makes it a little hard to follow, though.

No one has built in 1.0 fire control SYSTEMS like bastian?

James the presenter/director is great for taking on feedback. If you want to see changes the best place to put suggestions and feedback is in a comment on you tube.

Wedge, Norra, Jan Ors, & Sabine is fun and pretty good. There I said it.

HIS EXTRA SHIELD IS IMYIMIDATING!

Oh what a guy that bastian!

I don't want to pile on the Rebel-bashing session, but I'm baffled. From the "Were you at Nordics" thread, this list went 5-1 in swiss, flown by an admittedly new player having played 9 Vassal games and 8 games on a table. Awesome for this guy, who's apparently really good at Armada and maybe that translates? But, I don't understand how this gets through swiss to a 5-1 finish.

Wedge Antilles — T-65 X-Wing 52
Proton Torpedoes 9
R3 Astromech 3
Servomotor S-foils 0
Ship Total: 64

Luke Skywalker — T-65 X-Wing 62
Instinctive Aim 2
Proton Torpedoes 9
Servomotor S-foils 0
Ship Total: 73

Norra Wexley — ARC-170 Starfighter 55
Intimidation 3
“Zeb” Orrelios 1
Veteran Tail Gunner 4
Ship Total: 63

You could also stream a match using TTS/Vassal/Fly Casual and have the participants live commentate - does Twitch support a switchable audio channel?

First of all congrats to that guy!

Also wild guess, but it can joust good and other people bring 3 ship lists.

This baffles me less than most things.

That Norra is pissed, and torps soften things up.

The real answer, I suspect, is that in 2.0 skill (and dice luck a bit) have a bigger impact on results than list building. A skilled wargamer could do well in X-Wing with only a few games under their belt.

That guy is me... I had 9 Vassal and 5 IRL games before Nordics. So I'm at 9 and 11 now.

Anyway. The list is not overly complex, doesn't require synergies between ships or stuff with range limitations, has great flexibility in targeting, does more damage on the approach than it receives, and from there it's simple mathematics: If your ships die faster than mine, it snowballs to me. As my 1 loss proves, however, is that in situations were flying skill really get to count, I run into problems.

Also, Luke and Wedge are both very deadly with torpedoes. Normally I'd say torps are ok+, but on these two guys, esp with the flexibility of R3 + IA, it gets really deadly. And Norra will often be adding 3 red as well.

So u don't want to hang out at a distance for too long, so u take damage and close, and then Norra gets really good and wedge is still super deadly and Luke is bloody tough with his regen.

All this said, I think I can say that I had some luck. Maybe dice. Maybe matchups. Who knows. But I think i can say that A) the list is effective and B) I did some things right.

Indeed.

I meet 4 I think other 3-ship and 2 4-ship.

Then u understand the list.

And u understand why people "want" to close with Norra, bc they really don't want to hang out in torpedo ****.

Btw: capping torps at 2 charges feels about right. Any more and they would be too good.

First, I should have tagged where credit is due... @Green Knight...you may be a savant and just don't know it. Kudos! That's also a very Krayt way to approach things...finish 5th in a swiss at a National event and drop to play your preferred game!

Can you tell us what you faced? Did most people just joust you? Inquiring minds want to know!

Overall I love it. I feel like instinctive aim gives you a weak torp with one force mod to use on it - did it work that way in your games or was 4 dice usually just enough?

lol --> but I do happen to be VERY good at Armada :P

It's kind of blurry... too many hours playing :D

1: Boba and 2 BS Assassin IIRC

2: I... have no memories of this match. None at all.

3: Luke, Sabine, Moldy someone and a 4th ship? Blurry.

4: Fenn Rau, Old Teroch, Guri (narrow loss)

5: Wedge, Luke, 2xGrey w/Proton

6: Boba, 4-LOM, Palob Moldy
