yeah, it's not like it's rocket science

But more than the streamers themselves, which at least I can partially get their desire to not get involved, what really triggers me is that there are so many people that agree with that practice because "there are other non-streamed games where mistakes happen" ffs

That's only part of the issue. Multiple groups tried to get access to do media stuff at coruscant. Honestly, I reached out about streaming in June and got told to wait for details. 5 more emails and nothing.

Dion gets access, then spends half the game begging for money after already pulling in an entry level salary from patreon. Heck, he admits the amazon prime money pays for. His daycare bills.

He gets access no one else does, then blames ffg for not enforcing the board state. at worlds jesper commentated a game for us junkies, and called. The judge on the game right when an issue happened. Both players were thankful and the board state was salvaged

I just hate the overblown nature us folk on the sidelines have.

That said... Guess it's making us closer to mainstream sports fans everyday.

I agree. If it's your policy not to, that's fine. But own it. Don't blame ffg then ban people that correct you

Only Europeans in Coruscant top4! Great results considering only about 1/3rd of the field was from the old continent!

He shouldn’t hold himself up as ‘the most professional’ stream (and certainly the only one who monetises it) if he can’t deliver a consistent and professional service.

Just don't watch it then. It is still 100% free, however professional it is. You are free to compete for viewers and support and to deliver a better, more professional stream. Personally I would even say that firstearth is better. But I still like the option to watch GSP and I do, so I won't crap on his stream.

Obviously, for the coruscant invitational. It is pretty exclusive and can choose. The tricky part is to establish yourself before so FFG will pick you instead. Dion has put a ton of work into his streaming. It will take quite some effort to surpass him. Complaining from the couch is much easier.

Except we had established ourself, worlds streaming went real well. We weren't denied, but rather no response, which a lot of content producers got.

The shilling and tone is very much US-style, I guess it grates more if it's not what you're facing every day in the media. Then again, the artificial monopoly also is the US way, so it all fits.

VTTV had a much better stream years ago. Firstearth, the junkies, and some Australian streams whose name escapes me are also at least at the same level, if not better, but without the incessant commercialization.

I wish I had other options. I often choose "no stream" instead, or at least mute the stream to avoid all the shilling.

Has he? Aside from the "gibs me money" overlays, GSP is one of the worst streams to actually watch. He's also easily one of the least professional streamers.

Seems like 4 ships + is the way to go, nice balance between upgrades and numbers.

I agree. As mentioned, there are (imo good) reasons to dislike the GSP stream, and there are streams I think are better. The selling out is one issue I have, but there are others for me, too. It is still free streaming, and that is more than I'm doing, so I won't crap on his work. He clearly won the popularity contest so far, which means he must be doing something right. Even if it isn't for me personally.

And the overlay is not entirely his. Last I've looked, it was a modified Tabletop.to overlay. Those guys deserve tons of credit for their work on tournament software AND overlays. All without pulling in thousands a month will pushing for more donations all the time.

Devon has been the silver lining to this event.

It really isn't. The overlays are terrible. The non-stop shilling is terrible. The number of times I've seem him remind his friends on time, of opponents crits, etc... at adepticon he got all of the top cut players lists and shared them with his friends the night before, and didn't post pairings until super late (lists were posted even later).

Well, no, because the Krayt usually declare open season on everything that isn't rational and pragmatic but they're still part of the x-wing podcast community. So this one illogical preferential treatment that is not for the best of the community as a whole keeps sliding, every time.
