Yes, we did. I fly Strikers all the time. I wanted the FAQ to safeguard them.

It is like you thought people would happily never pick up Striker players about this.

You live in the US. The land of lawyers and whiny ****. You ought to believe in the worst of opponents!

Yes, and my (our) stance is exploitative rules lawyers should be ruled against, not entertained.

Our nationals Marshal straight ignored weird, edge case rules-lawyering by some participants in favor of pretty clear rulings.

Ex: No, range bonuses aren't optional (stop being weird).

Yes. Mostly because I want to see what people try to rules lawyer next.

I 100% agree. That is in general how rulings go here as well.

Hence, am delighted that the idiots arguing that the escape craft would proton detonate when destroyed by enemy fire have been thwarted.

Dee on Mynock was arguing that vs Chris the judge guy (Chico???). So there is a clear example of why FAQs are needed. Because you encounter those people constantly.

And without any faq, strikers would get screwed and so needed the precise same FAQ as they had in 1.0.

Unknowable ;)

people are arguing the same rules over precedent with RCC, so sadly yes?

You know what... I think you're right.

I think what I (we) are really mad about is that these ARE needed (because, most of them just super aren't needed).

?

Agreed.

Regardless, the most important point is that Strikers won!

The escape pod is probably an Errata being passed as a rules clarification: considering how the card is written, it wasn't even in doubt that the pod would become a proton when destroyed

Q: Do TIE Strikers (and Reapers) skip their perform action step if they overlap an asteroid or another ship with their Aileron’s ability maneuver?

A: No.

I Agree™.

To be fair, at times Dee can be a giant tool when he gets stuck in pedantic arguments. I generally enjoy the Mynock content (shame!), but being anal about certain points is annoying.

There's nothing wrong with enjoying Mynocks. There's no shame for that.

There is entirely too much shame deserved however for admitting to it...

I love the Mynock podcast, so no beef.

And ultimately, their "rules queries of 2.0" episode probably got that and other stuff publicised, and thus clarified. So they did a service.

Good on them!

Having faced plenty of striker swarms and their bumps and train-tracking and pointy bits poking bumped ships around...I don't know if any of us won.

Hah! I'm no where near stupid enough to have taken that bet. If I ever stumble over you at an event, I'll buy you a beer though.

As long as you’re not like totally drunk and you’re not totally accidentally kicking opponents ships around, we should be fine..

Or 4king a defender back to not being on a rock!

So, based on the new rules set and the new pseudo-FAQ, what happens when I dump a Rigged Cargo Chute debris token out of the back of my ship and it lands on a ship (or multiple ships)? Is the answer "nothing"? Is the answer "They take a stress and roll for potential critical damage"? I feel like I had a grip on this and now I'm not sure.

what? their Overlap terminology isn't crystal clear? I'm flabbergasted!

You mean your reactional emotion is a combination of surprise and disbelief, leading to the two emotions to constantly stack on top of each other, as in, overlap?

Yeah, that's odd they didn't spell that one out more. I see nothing which changes anything, so I'd still play it as you have to move to suffer any effect from it.

To come to that conclusion, you’d have to look at the device ruling (this plopping a prox mine is overlapping), and conclude that obstacles are different enough to not follow suit, right?

the obstacle answer is definitely some sort of hedged non-answer.

between the prox mine and the smarmy cargo chute 'ruling', I'm pretty sure the answer is that FFG thinks we're idiots.

But according to reddit/facebook. overlapping triggers things for prox mines even though you're not moving but debris clouds don't because you're not moving.

The way I read it was you're overlapping it and therefore suffer whatever effects overlapping would cause. The reason for the weird wording was a result of people asking how ignoring obstacles worked. They had that on their mind and didn't want to come out and say "you take a stress" because in some edge cases you don't take a stress. And people would somehow twist that all up into dropping overlaps being different than moving overlaps etc.

I guess? I'm going to keep assuming one has to move through a loose cargo token to trigger it, which also means I'm probably not going to bring rigged cargo.

it's very stressful!!

Nu-canon gives the TIE/LN and TIE/IN targeting computers; when are we getting our cheap, TIE-only Targeting Computer mod ffg?
