Do it or no pools...

My limited experience with 2.0 so far has left me the feeling that rebel generics being all overcosted by 1-2 points
Here's a fun game mode: Soontir versus 16 autopilot drones that can't fire. Could Soontir stay out of range after 3 rounds?

yes, unless you give them some odd deployment rules.

LOL. X-wing Minesweeper.

Thing is that 16 lined up in a line can reach the board edge after three rounds. So at least one should be able to reach Soontir if he stays in the corner. Question can two+ reach him in the corner? Because if corning becomes a losing strat, then the game becomes interesting.

Can't argue against a feeling. I keep wanting to take a wave of T65s, but look over at Imperials with the TIE Phantoms or TIE Bombers with barrage rockets, and realize it's a rough fight. It's not impossible but definitely feels slanted.

I think they're overpriced for competitive play. I'm not really sure we're supposed to be using generics in the rebel faction though.
I'm a pixel in that small circle somewhere.

I agree. The Rebel factions theme is pretty explicitly synergies between pilots, and the Ace archetype.
That Fortressing section..... ?

RIP fortressing.
P.S. Good riddance.

Huh? Was that thing? Who would do that? And why?
RIP Fort Chris

For the memes.
I'm pretty sure @Tlfj200 was ready to use Super Kylo vs the world for fun.

I took it to a tournament for one of the Krayt bounties. I even won the tournament with it. As defkhan1 it's just for the fun of it. I'd never take it to a serious tournament, but it was entertaining (for me at least flying it)
I thought about this a bit....albeit after a pint.

...OK, after three; sorry about the clarity.
Edited by clanofwolvesFortressing is a symptom of a larger problem.
If people are fortressing, it means there are matches so bad that the best way to win is to not engage. This doesn't stop people from not engaging.
1.0 Kylo+Soontir. They didn't fortress, but they certianly didn't engage. A pre-movement roll in 2.0 can let you fortress in all but name.
Final salvo does not help this problem since it encourages both not engaging and stalemates.
The real problem is it being beneficial to have a stalemate or not engage.

Just tried testing one to see how far they can reach starting out as far forward, with an open field, 3 banks, and forward barrel rolls. Soontir needs to just k-turn back and forth along the back edge and he will never get hit.
I even fortressed(rip) several big base ships along their back edge and were still out of reach. The explosion reaches into range 1 of the board edge but it's less than .5 of a 1 straight.

I learned x wing from guys who wanted to fly jousters in the era of pre-nerf phantoms and pre-nerf defenders. I've always seen fortressing as a safety valve. It helps put my bad jousters on a more even footing with the broken stuff. It was never done as a devious strategy to win on time, but as a last ditch effort to play ships you loved in absolutely the wrong meta.
I get they're trying to remove NPEs and all that, but you gotta wonder what happens to players if the option isn't 'play ships you love and you can fortress if you hit ___' but rather 'play ships you love and just lose when you hit __.'
Hopefully the game will never get to that point, but I'd rather have those systems in place and not need them.
I'm relieved that Defenders 4k'ing in their corner is not fortressing. They obviously move.
Now, y'all should be careful about self-bumping in the middle of a match, since it looks a lot like fortressing and who knows if you intend to do it twice, better call a judge!
Treating the symptoms is an interesting approach.
