Well, it will be interesting to see what pops out at us.
Should we also roll for conflict from last session, or wait till the end of this one?
I'd like to wait until the next scene before we do that.
I'm pretty sure these guys are hostile, but is there any way a Knowledge check might help give us some information about them? Either to try to understand what their exchange was about, or to recognize their uniform or accent?
ETA: Also, how far away are they?

I'd give more leeway if the Vigilance check had passed. Right now they have the upper hand.
About medium range.

Should I roll again, or was my previous Vigilance check for this Initiative?

My only experience with Ataru Strikers, thus far, has been with my six year old who wanted to "fight like yoda." Does this look about right?
- Quickdraw (incidental)
- Reflect/ Parry/ Improved Parry (reactive incidentals)
- Close to short range (maneuver)
- Saber Swarm (2nd maneuver, burn 2 Strain) to gain Linked 1 on next attack
- Hawk Bat Swoop (action) 1 pip to engage (a 2nd pip would add 1 advantage)
- Resolve attack
- Get ganked by all 8 adversaries, as the only one in range

I'd try to avoid getting ganked. You could forgo Saber Swarm, and use your second maneuver to move back to short range after attacking (or spend the advantage needed to do it without suffering strain, if you have it).
Just as an FYI, in case you had plans different for Shisa. But assuming she stays in the encounter area, Kamoa is going to try and stay within engaged range of her, so he can activate his Body Guard talent if needed. If she goes for a GTFO and hides or something, that's cool too, just would appreciate updates about her location in relation to him, if she changes band ranges or anything, as that will directly impact his actions. And according to the writeup, it's any attacks, until beginning of next turn, which I would assume includes ranged, since it doesn't specify?
Edited by KungFuFerretSo sorry for the delay, everyone. Work got busy and moving is apparently stressful (who knew?), so I wasn't able to catch up on the threads. I'll roll a new Destiny roll and read through everything. It seems like a fight has broken out? O_O
EDIT: Okay, rolls! Also, like Kamoa, Takane is going to remain close to Shisa to better defend her, although she is more likely to provide the offensive side of defense, if you catch my drift .
Rolls!

Oh Kamoa is more than happy and willing to punch some faces, he's just going to try and limit it to anyone that attempts to go for the girl. He has, very specific opinions on body guarding

While we wait for @Magnus Arcanus 's roll, what's best practice for a PbP combat? Should we hash out our actions here in the OOC thread first? Or should we just go first-come, first-served based on the final PC/NPC initiative order? I think if this were a tabletop game, we'd do the former, but since it's PbB and we're all on different schedules, the latter might make for a faster-paced game, albeit one that limits our tactical capacities somewhat.
We're waiting on @Magnus Arcanus to make an initiative check, then we can progress to the encounter. If we split the encounter into PC, NPC(Shisa and Phoon), and ADV (short for Adversary), we have the following initiative order:
- PC
- NPC
- PC
- PC
- PC
- NPC or ADV
- NPC or ADV
- PC
- ADV
- ADV
I think you're missing a third PC slot after that first NPC one, there . I rolled a 2/1 as well!
But in general, what's our strategy? Do we want our defenders to get set up first, to see what they do? Or do we want to press the attack?
Unless something unusual happens, Takane's first turn will be draw her sword*, Guarded Stance, and commit for Sense.
* Mechanically, at least. Narratively...you'll see ...

Zik's no warrior; he'll hang back with the defenders and probably use Imbue on one of them (sounds like Kamoa and Takane at this point). He's still seated, so it'll take a maneuver to stand up and ready his weapon, as well.

Let's experiment: we'll try the first round of combat OOC first, then narrate the whole block IC at once. If that doesn't work, we'll try a different approach.
I'll leave it to the rest of you to decide how the PC slots are assigned. You can decide every round, or implement a rotating system, or something. Do it however.

Yep, for got to slip in @SavageBob 's slot.
