OK, so what I have in mind is the five advantage being used to make the dog act as if Chadrik is almost a second master. Obviously (or not so obviously...) the dog would not look up to Chadrik the same way it does to its real master (if it has one) but we could get 'friendly dog time', helpfulness and cooperation. Boost dice for survival checks with the dog. Or no survival checks needed (I do have three extra advantage to make eight).

As far as animals and Chadrik goes, Chadrik has had to interact with them in the Temple. Not that he was ever in to them but he has comfortable around them.

How about we go with the animal being extra friendly with Chadrik in particular. Not to delve too much into spoilers, but there's more going on with it than is readily apparent, and having it treat you like a second master would be a little inappropriate.

Re. Charm check -- Any boosts from Kamoa's assist? Or the fact that the pooch likes us? Any setbacks from darkness, etc.?

Yeah, you can make it an assist, so Boost, and then an extra for the dog. 1 Setback due to reasons.

Let me know if any of these other approaches require more Charm checks. I'm cool to RP it, too, but in the case of another Charm check, I can add 2 free Successes for 2 Strain if the person has fewer ranks in Charm than Zik (meaning 0 ranks).

No it's fine as is. I suspect several of us would ask questions fairly quickly of the child. They can answer as they see fit.
