The Evening Lamp OOC

I mean, if you just tie him up somewhere, it is entirely possible he might just escape. It's entirely within the realm of possibility. Just sayin'.

Just to check in, if we're calling this scene done, should we determine Conflict and/or XP?

Seems we're still unclear what to do with Mr. Ex-Whip. Do we tie him up (and hope he doesn't escape)? Do we execute him? Do we carry him with us? The choice we make will probably bear on the Conflict part of that question.

Kai is not itching to put a saber through this guy. He is just speaking his true thoughts on securing him to a tree. He would be willing to end the man, rather than inflict a slow death of dehydration and hypothermia.

Kai will also have reservations about bringing him along, but go along with it, as probably the proper course.

Chadrik doesn't really care what will happen to Mr. Ex-Whip. He won't be the one executing him, but he won't say anything if that is what is decided. If pressed hard he will say to leave him tied to a tree with the binders on.

I would lobby we take the captive with us. If we leave him behind chances are he will escape. Further he does know stuff, and while we can't understand him, if he can understand us there is some rudimentary level of communication that can take place, even if it is yes/no questions. Unless this guy is a complete fanatic willing to die for his cause, he will talk to us. And I guess if we learn he is a complete fanatic... well that tells us something too.

Remember, though, that he doesn't understand us at all, at least according to Shisa. Maybe we can learn to communicate with him, though, through a series of Xenology checks over time? Until then, we have to rely on Shisa as interpreter. And she's also stated she has no plan to travel with us if this guy comes along, which may be the GM's subtle way to tell us he doesn't want the baddie going along with us. :)

Quote

"He can't speak your tongue," Shisa says. "He understands, but unless you know the tongue, you won't get anything out of him. And he didn't attack this temple, but my temple."

The top quote was from what Shisa told us. I interpreted that to mean he can understand our language, he just can't speak it.

If he can't understand us at all that changes things.

Yes. Does anybody remember of they used any dark points and how many?

10 XP.

Also, we can reroll Destiny.

Kai utilized 2 dark pips during combat.

Ah, you're right. He can understand us, then, at least a bit. We'll see how Shisa reacts to Zik's recent proposal that we carry Mr. Ex-Whip for a ways at least.

Zik drew on 3 dark side points.

No dark side pips utilized, just rocks.

No Force points used period.

Well, I will spend muh Xp now.

15 to get the talent Inventor in the Artisan tree (slowly but surely getting to that Force rating) and the last 5 to get a rank in Discipline. Seeing as how Chadrik has had to go through a lot of discipline type stuff in the last few minutes. And seeing how he failed horribly at that Discipline check.

Sorry for my absence, everyone. I was doing an estate sale for my step-father Friday through today, so I had little time to catch up. I'll do so now, including rolling my new Destiny pool.

10 xp, huh? That puts us at 20 earned, so far? Hmm...Takane doesn't really need anything yet. I'm gonna stockpile a bit more, until I can grab a couple of things at once.

Apparently I'm a hoarder :P !

Yay! A good Destiny roll for me, for once! I'm going to read through what I've missed in the IC thread, and pipe in with Takane's thoughts.

Kamoa currently has 25 xp (5 left over from generation +20 from campaign).

Going to spend 15 of it to purchase the Suppress Force power (Keeping the Peace, pg 39)
5 to unlock basic power (Mentor discount)
5 to unlock the Duration upgrade (Allowing me to commit Force Die to sustain effect)
5 to unlock the first Strength upgrade (giving me 2 failures for the force pip I would spend )

Let me know if this is kosher and I will remove the xp.

Looks okay for the most part, though @KungFuFerret , I would think that some sort of narrative explanation for gaining a new power. You can just sit on it for a while, but try to work in the acquiring it somewhere down the road.

So everyone who used dark side points equal to the number they used, obviously. @Magnus Arcanus , Bralane starts with at least 1 for Terrify, plus any dark side used for other powers. Nobody takes any conflict for their failed fear checks. You can roll 1d10.

Morality Roll

1d10 : 7 [1d10=7]

Unless Blackbird has any conflict for Chadrik, he will go up to 57.

I would have told you if you have any.

d10 : 7 [1d10=7]

So Zik goes up to 54.

Well I was going to work in a narrative about him meditating in this temple area, but wanted the green light on the purchase before bothering to type it out.

And while I listed it as a Conflict roll, I meant Morality obviously.

Conflict Roll : 1d10 4

Edited by KungFuFerret

That's fine.

Just to clarify, what is fine? My roll being mislabeled, or my meditation narrative to justify the purchase?

Yes.

Conflict roll : 1d10-1 8

I might be scary, but I am not conflicted about it at all.
