Where do you get them?
I thought third party ones weren't legal, but at the regional tournament I went to everyone was using them.

Theyre legal as long as they're the same size. Team Covenant is where I get mine, but they're on the expensive side.
You can find lots of different ones on Etsy, Team Covenant, Cog O Two, and many more sites. Below are a few links.
3rd Party movement templates, and focus, evade, stress, ion, target lock and other similar tokens are OK to use in Tournament play.
Bomb/Mine tokens from FFG are OK to use in tournament play but 3rd party are not.
3rd party asteroid and debris templates are Not OK to use in tournaments.
3rd party dice are Not OK to use in tournaments.

Edited by USCGrad903rd party templates and range rulers (including the partial ones tha only measure to range 1 or 2) are tournament legal, although you can always request both players use a single set of templates if there is any concern about discrepancy. There's a section in the tournament rules about them.
Note: Acrylic templates are actually more uniform in size than than the cardboard ones because cardboard is prone to warping.

Players must use only official Star Wars: X-Wing™ Miniatures Game components in tournament
play, with the following exceptions for third-party replacements:
• Non-essential tokens (see “Tokens” on page 9)
• Range rulers that match the dimensions of an official range ruler or a particular section of
an official range ruler
• Movement templates that match the dimensions of official maneuver templates
I use Cog'O'Two templates. They are not as flashy as some you can get but I like them aestheticly. Since I got my Black Sun templates they have increased their range considerably, offering lots of different designs and types of acrylic. I'm actually thinking of getting a second set.
FFG does also occasionally offer acrylic maneuver templates as prize support in tournament kits, but normally only higher level tournaments, like regionals and above.
Cog `o Two templates and tokens are nice but I prefer the ones from art of war studios, just personal taste. Many of the 3rd party templates can be personalised to your liking, different colours and designs.
Wait, does that mean my ffg acrylic bomb tokens aren't tournament legal? Or are they the exception since ffg made them?
For shame Boba Rick, you've been here long enough and should know about/reference the only pinned X-Wing topic before asking questions:

On topic, I like Applied Perspective myself: simpler designs than some of the other vendors but quite a few different acrylic options and decently priced in my opinion.

Anybody use those bridge thingys that allow you to place your movement template over a ship? How's that working out? It just looks like too much trouble.
Games Armoury (a local guy here) does a bunch of acrylic templates and tokens as well.
Etsy is probably the best. Tons and tons of packages to pick from.
I love mine but in hindsight i shouldnt have gotten black, despite being Imperial themed. Theyre suppose to be transparent but the black kinda says otherwise lol.

Just got some because they sounded like a good idea. Unfortunately, sounded like is all it ended up being. Turning into a big pain, so last game we just moved stuff out of the way like normal.

somehow i just see them as a royal pain in the butt. Kinda dont wanna even try to use them.
I love Covenant templates. My only regret is not getting them in a brighter color. I chose the smokey grey color and it blends in too much with everything else and ever single time I'm playing I'm like "Where is that :cuss 2 turn template!?"
I checked out Art of War Studios just now based on someone's recommendation. I'm in California, they're in England. For a set of movement templates, including shipping it came out to under $20 USD!
I looked at the other places people have been suggesting and they're almost twice as much before shipping. I don't understand why there's such a mark-up here at home. Acrylic is not expensive, but if you want it cut a certain way, it is.
Just a heads up if you go to AoW Studios: they're currently on holiday until mid January, so it will be about a month+ for you to get your order at the moment.

Yes - Apologies - I should have clarified that 3rd party bombs and obstacles are not considered acceptable for tournaments, but anything that comes from FFG is OK.
I will update my post.

I also have a set of Cog 'o Two Black Sun templates - mine are white and I painted the numbers/symbols black. I love them!
I got some basic ones via Underground Lasers on ebay for $20 including shipping.
Lots of other great options on etsy and elsewhere, though.

Just picked up these beauties the other day!

It can also depend on your location. Example if you're downunder, Aetherworks are Australian so they're usually cheaper to source.
Otherwise they're all pretty much the same, just choose which ones you think look coolest.
