No imperial assault news but legion is getting the clone wars. So 1-0 to imperial assault.

Check out the Q&A
Edited by The Cocky RoosterQ&A mentions more app work coming in the future. That’s was about it, unless I missed something more?
So, tinfoil hat time, since we didn't really get anything concrete.
The Rebel Specialists pack that Legion is getting looks to include, among possibly others, Gideon and what could very well be our Most Hated Droid.
So, that's actual characters from IA in Legion now, other than just the Weiss upgrade.
The Imperial Specialists pack includes a female officer and what appears to be an Imperial astromech.
One might've thought they would've gotten something like Sorin and Blaise, so this is kind of interesting.
What are the chances that these new Imperial Specialists are the heroes in an upcoming Imperial campaign? Or do we think they're just Legion specific now?
Just for the sake of argumentation- having the officer be female is interesting, and weirdly progressive for the Empire (in the movies at least, I can't recall any women on the Empire's side, at least not in that role). However, if she's an upcoming hero in IA and FFG wanted to differentiate her from the already existing officers, making her a woman would be a pretty easy move. I guess you could argue the same thing for Legion too, but do they even have officers yet?
Personally, I'd totally be down for that- mainly for the chance to have an astromech hero

Eh, two droids seems like a weird choice if they're to be heroes. Maybe there could only be three heroes in the box, and one of the droids could be a companion of the other.
Apparently nothing was mentioned in the pipeline either, but I do just think this looks exactly what I always thought an Imperial hero group would, minus the extra droid.

Mr. Navarro said they're going to focus on the App suggesting paper campaigns are being put on the back burner.
I'm not disappointed that no physical content was announced (well the soon-to-be released ToL box certainly help
). Frankly, in fact, I'm quite happy that FFG said new app contents are (or will soon be) on the pipe lines instead.
Boxes and expansion packs are great of course, but there are quite a lot of physical stuff already available. From an imperial vs all campaign point of view there are many units I have sporadically used because new and better units became available or because they were (and still are) too pricey (Most of the early vilains like Boba Fett, RGC, Kayne Somos just to name a few, and also Tusken raiders (habitat restriction), snowtroopers (my imposed habitat restriction), HK droids (cost a lot of threats that you can usually afford at a point in a campaign where the heroes will easily take them out), etc.). Knowing how the app deploys a load of threats at once, it increases the chances of such units to actually show up more often, not counting that for example, an app campaign based on TS would probably involve Fett/Somos similar to how Vader/Weiss appears in the Flight of the Freedom Fighters campaign.
And for skirmish players, app content could hint at an app similar to the one of X-wing 2.0 which could remove the need for physical fixes allowing some variability in lists despite no new physical stuff.

Still, the app doesn't sell new stuff, although they probably hope to boost sales for old expansions. I'm good with putting off new paper campaigns for a while (there are several fanmade ones coming anyway!), but I would be surprised if they didn't release the odd support wave every now and again, containing app-campaign specific figures ![]()
(Also, Skirmish pretty much need regular new physical releases, I would think. Its not like the app does anything for the Skirmishers)
It's just not to push expansions for existing customers. The app opens new customer base - there are a lot of solo players out there - or players whose group isn't interested in Star Wars.
The more content there is, the more likely is that a player jumps in with the initial investment of the core box.

It'd be really nice if FFG gave us an app for creating campaign content. Didn't they have one for Descent?

The Descent universe is FFG's, Star Wars is owned by Disney/LFL. And LFL appears to be very particular in their control of what can and cannot appear in Star Wars.

I think he means that if there were some things that were not mentioned at Gen Con, there may be others.

Right.
I kind of expect a vacuum of new info after something like GenCon. Even if this wasn't at the convention it doesn't really mean anything for us, but I guess it could be a tiny sliver of hope.
As others have said, I think we got our GenCon announcement with Lothal. It's another box campaign with a pretty significant blister wave encompassing almost all of the components from a popular Star Wars based cartoon series. I would say that is pretty major. We also just got a new app campaign announced. So really they have answered both questions about future content before GenCon even started.
IF we didn't get either of those AND THEN there was no news at GenCon I would be worried.
The game has slowed down, for sure, but I am OK with that. There is a ton of content out there right now, my group still hasn't even played the HOTE campaign.
Eh, maybe. It's just nice to get a little nod from FFG every now and then.
Though it looks like they did check in with us, as the On The Boat status, while not changed, was at least updated again on Friday. Again, repeat- we're still On the Boat (because I'd hate to get someone's hopes up that we're shipping). But someone bumped the last update, if that holds any meaning (pretty sure it doesn't though).
So... it's FRIDAY!!!!! Who will we see spoiled today??
I feel like, with GenCon over and the product moving to shipping, we might have a decent chance of gettin a Thrawn/Hondo twitter preview today. Here's hoping!
