It's FRIDAY!!!!! Who will we see spoiled today??

By FSD, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Honestly, I remember Fridays being a constant source of disappointment last spring. I'm not about to let that happen again for myself. They'll announce it when the announce it. I just hope we get something at all.

It's a shame though. As seen in the Regionals List thread, IA Skirmish is in a fantastic spot at the moment. Should be worth riding the succes they've finally build into it.

If we don't get new physical content soon but we get a few app updates and maybe new app contents, I'm all fine with that. For those who have bought everything up to now, that's a lot of toys and I'd like to have different ways of playing with my toys (enabling more imperial troops/allies via the app with possibly new campaigns) rather than new ones.

It would be great if they announce new waves in the upcoming weeks, but if they don't while we get new app contents then I'll be very happy!

I’m sure there’s a store within a hour of me that has a skirmish community, but I don’t really feel liking driving into Dallas.

also, seriously this would be a super likely time for an all Rebels characters reinforcement wave, since 2 out of 3 of HotE’s blisters were already from Rebels. Question is who? Thrawn is the obvious Imperial choice(and or rukh), but for Rebels you have the choice of Zeb, Karan, Sabine, Ezra, Rex or Kallus(and the only 2 that might make sense as a two pack would be Zeb with either Rex or Kallus). Scum, well you’ve got Hondo or Vizago as the obvious choices

Well considering there is a photo floating around with Leia and Rebel Troopers for Legion, I'm betting we will *not* see anything today for IA while FFG focuses on building hype for Legion's release...

I feel like adding Thrawn to IA is a bit forced. He is barely a ground combatant. We don't see many fighter pilots in the game, let alone an admiral. I would prefer Wedge Antilles before Thrawn. That's just my two cents though, and I would love to see more Leaders in Imps.

I feel like most of the Rebels choices should be released as 2-packs so that they release them quickly, and so all the Rebel additions remain low-cost mid-impact units like Hera and Chopper. None of them should compare to Han Solo or the like.

Exactly. Same goes for Rogue One stuff (which we haven't even touched yet!)

Honestly, as far as Rebels go, I could be happy with simply a K2SO/ Cassian pack. Maybe Saw and Jyn (before R1) and I think Baze and Chirrut would barely fit. But they all pair up nicely, outside of Bodhi.

Well, Rukh his Assassin would be perfect then. Although, I’d agree on the 2 packs, perhaps Kansan and Ezra, Sabine and Rex, and Zeb and Kallus perhaps? Although usually they try to balance out faction releases so there’s that

To be fair, it's not like other Star Wars stuff isn't getting news. Even Armada had an article this week.

Unless this is the sentiment that IA specifically is going on the backburner for Legion.

Dr Aphra... Black Krrrrrrrrgystan... and a rebel. :D

Other thing is with Rebels being on its final season this year, it makes sense to wrap up the tie ins

Oh you're right. I forgot to call him out. I think we would see a Thrawn/Rukh pack only after we see Season 4.

Regarding K2SO (since he's a re-purposed droid), Kallus, and maybe even Rex (since Rebels hints that the Clone still worked for the Empire in minor roles until retired); I would love to see "dual affiliation" cards like Rebel/Imp or Rebel/Scum. You would declare the affiliation when squad building and they couldn't be used with Temporary Alliance. I think certain figures like Lando especially deserve to be dual affiliation.

This is all rambling but since we'll never get an article until after Legion drops, we might as well entertain ourselves.

And actually Rebels does establish Thrawn as a physical threat, during his first appearances there is a training scene where he holds his own against 2 sentry droids with a vibrostaff

Bodhi Rook/Bor Gullet 2-pack confirmed

Too bad he can't hold his own against noghri.

What is confirmed ? Wave 11?

I would place as much Rebels content on the market as possible as long as the show is still running.

Thrawn, Kanan, Ezra, Zeb and Sabine would be a given in my book. Mandalorians, Hondo, Vizago, Rex and Kallus could also be made, IF sales are great.

I feel Rex is just as likely as any other main due to his popularity(I mean, Ashoka is in, he has to be too)... also you named a pretty short time period, the series finale is in March. But yeah, I expect at least the next reinforcement batch to have a good chunk of the characters, perhaps the next box might finish rounding it out

I'm less optimistic that we'll see more related to Rebels. The show is about to end, and I'm not sure there will be a huge appetite for the range in the long term.

Its different for something like Rogue One - those characters are much more ingrained in the mainstream, and have much wider appeal.

I also wonder a little about the sculpts - There's a risk that something like Ezra or Zeb would look too cartoony against classic SW sculpts.

I love Rebels as much as anyone else, but, sadly, with the overall trajectory IA is taking, I'm not sure we'll ever seen the range finished.

Rebels all already have realistic references made by ffg, and heck Zeb is the only original online design from the show and he wouldn’t look anymore cartoony than the Wookiee’s and the bothans. And the show ending is exactly why we’d get a blowout now when they are at peak popularity, and it’s not like we don’t already have the inquisitor, Hera, Chopper, maul, and Ashoka.

To be fair, Maul's popularity as a character isn't really based solely on Rebels. I think an unwritten rule in Star Wars collector-dom is that Maul sells for the same reason Boba Fett sells, coolness factor. His figures were coveted in Star Wars minis. To bad they couldn't have made him in Rebels with his comic book style robotic legs. Ahsoka, as well, is a holdover from her popularity in the Clone Wars. Hera is the only character that is new for Rebels, besides that Inquisitor, whose existence I despise. The Rebels in Rebels are all represented in Ersatz form among the heroes of Imperial Assault.

But we do need a hairless Wookiee! I mean Lasat, with a borifle. I mean there’s not really a weapon like that in-game that’s as effective in both ranged and melee form. Then again whether it’s Zeb or a generic Lasat either would work. Another thing that’d be cool is an e-XD infiltrator droid. The other 2 things from the show overlap that would be the must haves are Rex, and Hondo(since oddly enough there are no Weequays in the game)

yeah there’s still a few Rebels characters and ideas that can be pulled, although I won’t argue that Kanan, Ezra, and Sabine already have proxies in IA, there are still a few things that should be pulled

Zeb and his kin are no original design. The first WIP design for Chewbacca looks like him.

Rebel have a lot of content in HotE. Sentry Droids, Jet Troopers and the AT-DP are all taken from that show.

Actually, he is in fact based off the original Chewie art. That’s true, but he still brings in a new fun species, and his bo-rifle would be pretty interesting ingane
