It's FRIDAY!!!!! Who will we see spoiled today??

Brand new 5 Rings universe board game announced today. Looks more up my alley than the card game, might have to check it out.

I am so confused by FFG's GenCon this year... Almost seems like they just used it simply as Legion platform, since we've had a ton of announcements even in the week and a half following the convention.

Well, GC was a HUGE platform to launch the L5R LCG. They also presold copies of TI4e which was announced the week before GC. This was also the first time they had GoT Catan to demo IIRC.

Then they announced Legion.

Honestly, I think they had their hands full with quite a bit of new-hotness to where they might not have wanted to dilute the hype by announcing too many new things at GC. Takes the spotlight off of the items they really wanted to push.

Finally got my preorder in! Also, ordered second packs of Hired Guns and ISB Infiltrators, since those are the only duplicates I need for campaign still. Looking forward to painting a ton of minis over the next month or so, between this and the Rebellion expansion.

It's FORCE friday!!! Who will we see spoiled today?

I don't believe in Destiny...

SO this is the FORCE friday announcement? Or we can still wait for something more?

This is it. They said they'd announce a new game (singular) and that's Destiny. We'll still likely get the usual announcements later, maybe something related to Imperial Assault, though unlikely.

This is a "Be sure to drink your Ovaltine" moment if I ever saw one.

I'm happy for Destiny players if this is a product they find interesting (some seem disappointed that it is yet starter that purports to be two-player ready, but you will ultimately still need two copies). I understand that FFG was defining "new product" as a new SKU for an existing game. I just can't help but find the whole thing underwhelming, and wonder if I am the only non-Destiny player who thinks so.

I think the attempt at hype has backfired on them. If they had just said "on Force Friday we will be releasing a new Destiny product" instead of of "on Force Friday we will be releasing an entirely new product", I'd be much less disappointed right now. I know they were trying to build anticipation, but I think it has backfired because that anticipation has only paid off for one sliver of the fan-base.

ETA: Typed all this, and then Radioactivepanda said it better and more succinctly. Well played.

Yeah, pretty disappointing.

Best case scenario, in my opinion, is that HotE is updated to shipping, has technically been in that process for a little while and simply wasn't yet updated, and we get an article for the ally/villain packs or a new wave announcement.

None of which is particularly likely, but I think a big Force Friday would be fitting for a wave that began on May 5th.

edit: Oh, and of course Destiny ruins everything. Why are we even surprised?

Yeah Imperial Assault has now joined the red headed stepchild status like the Star Wars living card game has. They can keep each other company. :(

If it's a 2 player Destiny Starter I'll be like so.......indifferent.

We have a WINNER!

I mean, is it the force friday announcement if they dated it for yesterday?

Probably. It came out a lot later than usual yesterday- probably to control for midnight releases.

Plus, it was Force Friday outside the US about that time anyway.

Hey look guys, in response to our complaints that the "new" Force Friday product was just a Destiny starter set and to our hopes that we might at least get some Force Friday news about other Star Wars games we got a new article.

About. deck-building. in. Destiny.

This is either comically tone-deaf or just straight up trolling. Worth a chuckle either way I suppose.

At least the rebellion expansion is now in stores.

Yeah, I can't wait for this afternoon to have another preview of the Empire at War set, and maybe an announcement for their next upcoming set, Gungans vs Porgs: Bloodbath.

They'll go in depth on the new Rey art and tell us why the artist made her look like a dude.

For the amount of hype behind it, Force Friday II has been a pretty big disappointment to me. I know it was never in the cards, but capping all of this off with a new trailer for The Last Jedi would have been nice.

I was surprised this week to see the article for HotE. If we're getting a Q3 release, we can maybe expect one article per week covering the three blister packs until the release at the end of the month.

Haha, seems likely. Or maybe they'll go in depth on all five minutes they spent on the box cover design.

Depends on whether or not you're talking Destiny cards... :P

But yeah, in seriousness, a new trailer would've been great.

This isn't the Force Friday announcement you're looking for.

Another starter set for Destiny that doesn't even have legal decks because FF is too cheap to give you a couple extra cards, wtf. It's like Arkham Horror Card Game where they expect you to rebuy the entire base game for a tiny number of extra cards in order to play 3 or 4 player. Man these guys can be pretty galling sometimes.

I bet they're wondering why Runewars isn't taking off and will be surprised when Legion sinks when they cheap out and don't make painted models that the majority of players want, and have unposeable models that the rest of the players want while simultaneously alienating their current IA customers.

Meanwhile guess what guys! Necromunda is back in November and you can play it both freeform OR on a grid. You know, how Legion should have been so it would work with IA. I won't be surprised if it works with Shadow War and Shadespire too.

Decide to go head to head with GW, get your licenses pulled and then put up seriously inferior product. I hope that Fallout game sells crazy mad numbers for you, oh wait, it won't, because you'll print like 3 copies and then take 4 months to get any more on the shelves like you did for Destiny which killed any interest in it.

I've seen a lot of you're posts, and I think, if I hated a company as much as you seem to hate FFG, I'd not waste any of my time on their website, let alone posting in their boards.

Out of curiosity, is there anything about FFG or their products that you *do* like?
