It's FRIDAY!!!!! Who will we see spoiled today??
Yahoo! I haven't even read the article yet, I'm just excited to see that it's there ![]()
Some very cool stuff in there! Can't wait for this.
Woooo! Looks so great!
from the article: "In the end, you know everything will proceed exactly as you have foreseen it."
mwuhahahahahahahaha! love it! #palpatinethings
The new phonebooks are here!! The new phonebooks are here!!!
So excited for this! Just a few thoughts:
- TC interview revealed the campaign choice format. Maybe why they couldn't release it until this week?
- Wow, the AT-DP looks pretty beefy for 9 threat, at least for a vehicle. Hope we do end up getting that AT-ST upgrade, because it's severely outclassed now. New walker is very exciting now, though!
-"... and other vehicles scour the street". Reference to AT-ST (and possibly an upgrade)? Reference to city vehicles represented by tokens?
- Now we know what the Clawdite does... sort of. Eager to see what these "forms" are.
- Taris! Wohoo! (also, the general implication that these city tiles will be used outside of the Coruscant setting confirmed)
- I know we'd already seen a little of them, but I'm loving the city tiles
- I'm actually excited for Feralo now. Seems like she might give even Gideon a run for his money for top tier support- and she also looks like she can be pretty aggressive
- Like how we're getting more crate items that aren't immediately consumed on use. Makes crates all the more tempting.
- Jax seems really cool. Shame he doesn't technically help with activation advantage, but those extra actions look like they can be pretty powerful late game.
- With Slicer's Upgrade, does the "you" refer to Jerrod or Jax? As written, I'd assume Jerrod, but Jax would make much more sense.

- Balanced Approach looks great. Once again, it looks like this expansion is encouraging Rebels to do more than run and gun
- Mechanical Master looks like it makes Jax pretty versatile
- As expected, Drokkatta seems to specialize in pain and splash damage. Skills don't look great, though.
- Maybe it's because my mind is all over the place right now, but I don't understand Shrapnel Rounds. Seems like it'd just put the same amount of Blast on a single enemy. Anybody understand it?

- No kidding about that splash damage. Repeater canon looks like a worthy successor to boomer.
- Sentry Droids look pretty solid. Those dual attacks seem neat. The little remote thing looks like a fun little pester, too.
- Deployable cover with Energy Shields? Awesome! New class deck centered around that very idea? Even better. Though, I hope they're not exclusive to said deck.
- Dark Side class!!! Looks like it'll be a rival to even Nemesis for pumping up villains. Unnatural abilities looks pretty powerful.
- Embrace Hate doesn't look great. Embrace Suffering looks better. It might even make me consider spending threat on a class card for once.
- Final thoughts: This was a fantastic breath of fresh air, albeit a strange one. Looks like the traditional "Heros, then Units/Classes" strategy was all kind of merged into one for this. Not sure if that means we're just going to get the Ally/Villain pack articles after this, or if something else is planned. Also, not sure what that (or the lack of mention of a release quarter) says about when this thing is coming out- be it sooner or later than we expect.
Also, and I can hardly complain, but I'm bummed we didn't get to see the riot troopers!
Anyway, regardless of any petty complaints I might have, it was so great to see this today!

The idea of shrapnel rounds is so that you can blast a guy that's standing one space away from the target... since no imperial player in their right mind would ever group enemies together when you have heroes doing cleave or blast damage. So this way you remove the blast from the attack (ie, nobody adjacent gets damaged) and instead do that damage to a figure up to two spaces away.
!!!
Wow. Was not expecting that. Cool stuff! ![]()

Ah, that makes sense now.
I don't know why I didn't get the "Two spaces away" thing at first. Thanks!
Anyone notice how a couple of the weapon/item pictures had number of XP vs number of credits next to them? Is that going to be a new upgrade mechanic? Or perhaps this was mentioned earlier and I missed it?

Some Hero's have weapons as their XP cards already. Davith for instance and his Shrouded Lightsaber.

You refers the to the figure having or performing the ability. In this case, even if the class card is Jarrod's, J4X-7 gains the ability and performs it (by spending both actions), so you refers to JAX.

Ahh, I see now.
Also, relevant that the card reads: "J4X-7 gains:"
I guess I was too excited to read today. Thanks!
All seems interestig for the campaign... perhaps the next week they show us the skirmish material! Can't wait to see more skirmish upgrades amd force user command cards.
The main things I still want to see are the Riot Troopers and how the Clawdite forms will work.

If I recall, the TC interview did call her a "fix for Gideon." Kind of weird to think about but I imagine most players want to bip a stormtrooper once in a while
. Though it looks like she could wreck them.
Finally the article!
And I am super stoked about Energy Fields... I actually was thinking about a command card to drop debris or something to do a very similar thing, a few months back.
This will have a nice impact on gameplay, since you can actually 'somewhat hide' characters behind an energy field. Basically alters the map a bit with every game
Hopefully they keep it to 1-2 figures in skirmish and 1 (maybe 2) command cards (with a cost of 1 or 2 or something). Maybe keep it for 1 round (at the end of round remove the token). Or a more expensive version where you can remove the energy field by spending another action, at a later point.
Portable energy field - 1 cost command card
Droid (maybe also Smuggler?) only
action> put down an energy field token on an empty space, within 1 space of you.
At the end of the round, remove this token.
Why empty space? Energy Shield tokens block line of sight, not movement.
I added that just because of flavor.
Making an energy field on an enemy unit seems a bit weird (although there might be situations where it would be the best option). Same kinda for friendly units: we are in a shooting battle and someone is building an energy field under your feet...
Then again, the same is true for building droids and the Ugnaught tinkerer has no problem in building a droid under an enemy/friendly unit.
So they will probably go with that and make it 'place an Energy Field token in an adjacent space'
Correct me if I'm wrong, but an enemy sitting in a space containing an energy field can still be attacked, correct (assuming LOS can be drawn to two corners without going through the energy field)?
I assume that's the case, because if not then that'd be a huge issue.
Yes. I think it was specified in the article or the energy shield image that you can draw line of sight to a figure on a space with energy shield token. (Counting spaces is not disallowed anyway.)
(So, very, very much like a figure on blocking terrain would. Maybe this speeds up getting the blocking terrain rules sorted out too.)
Can you draw line of sight to a space containing only a shield token? Or only to a figure occupying that same space?
I don't remember any ability that would draw line of sight to spaces, only to figures (or objects).
When you choose spaces, it's usually within x spaces which doesn't require line of sight.

Bossk's indiscriminate fire is a space in line of sight.
