That would be pretty cool

I like the idea, but I'm convinced that if they do a new Core box it will be based on the new trilogy (Ep 7-9). This will allow for the new stormtroopers etc. I think they'll wait until at least episode 8 is out so that they have a little more to work with. I don't expect this until maybe 2019.

(Sorry if this is getting a bit off topic.)

This is probably the most likely scenario, I'll admit. The important part is we keep buying stuff so they have the financial motivation to do it!

(Please help me I have a FFG addiction.)

The thing with this game that separates it from Descent and its RTL launch is that we have a skirmish side. So if they stop releasing physical components, or slow down dramatically as they have with Descent, they can expect that side to dry up. Now maybe the skirmish numbers have been small enough that they plan to do this, but on a selfish level I hope not. Maybe this means that they just switch to releasing more blister pack waves and less big/small box expansions, which I would be ok with. That still drives the meta and creates the opportunity for fresh lists and upgrades to older units, is a bit easier on the wallet, and creates more content for the app to drive sales (Descent is set up so every single pack adds something to the app digitally, maybe a Delve level, or a side mission or something).

So, I guess it's time to change the title of the this thread. It looks like IA's been relegated to the Tuesday slot now, with Destiny taking over at the Friday helm. As long as they keep putting out content, I'll be fine :-)

Seems to be the current case, right now at least. I wonder if that'll continue when more products are released in the IA line.

If we're getting news of any expansions at Orlando celebration, I still expect a Friday announcement, due to the fact that Celebration runs from Thursday-Sunday of next (next!) week. Since we usually only get "Available this week" announcements on Thursdays and no updates on weekends, it'd kinda have to be on Friday, unless any articles are postponed till the week after (or if they break the mold and send out an update on Thursday.

The actual day of the week we get imperial assault news has never been strictly one day. I can remember some one Wednesdays for sure too. I'll have to go back and update my list of past dates to have the day of the week the articles were released as well. Honestly, I think it has more to do with what else FFG has in the queue over all the products and they shift it a lot. And then there's the time Bespin stuff was coming and they didn't even release I think two of the articles until the day before stores started selling it all, but it wasn't "FFG says it's available" until the next Thursday. That was awesome well timed...and they released both articles on the same day :) which was a Wednesday :) had to go back and look for my own curiosity.

I much prefer small box expansions over blister packs. I think small boxes are much "easier on the wallet"

Typical small box 39.95: 10 figures (plus the campaign!)

Typical blister wave $34.85: 4 figures

True, I was just thinking more along the lines of 3 blister waves versus a big box, small box and 2 blister waves.. big price difference there.

I hear you. My thinking is that the boxes are always more economical for what you get. The core box average figure cost was under $3, and all of the box expansions since have given us average figure costs of $4 or less. The best deal with the blister packs are either the 2 for $10 (eg. rebel Sabs; $5 ea.) or 3 for $15.00 (Stormtroopers) with most of them being 1 figure for $10. Plus, the boxes have so much content that you don't get in the blisters. Certainly, FFG has a higher profit margin with the blisters but we get much more from the boxes. I think of blisters like the popcorn and soda at the theater, the huge mark-up on those products keeps the theater in business and I like it a lot, but I'm there for the (SW) movie (for the 3rd time). I'm also biased because I favor campaign.

technical

Right so for our dollar it would be better for the boxes, but from FFG's stand point the blisters are where its at... so we will most likely just see more blisters :P

As far as campaign content goes, by the time we get small box 3 they will have a ton of tiles to work through on the App, just like we are seeing right now with RTL. But to keep the skirmish afloat you need to introduce new physical content regularly, so sync the blisters up with the X-Wing wave releases and go from there. Gets us new deployment cards, upgrades, command cards etc.. to keep the meta fresh. Every now and then throw a box out like an Epic release.

Great way to introduce a lot of the wider range canon figures like Rebels and Rogue One content without having to commit to a box as well, from their stand point. The development turn around of blisters has to be much faster than boxes as well, less man power.

Maybe a bit OT, but with GW now having a stronger presence in brick-and-mortar independent stores and online, I think FFG really needs to push to have their production up to the point where more product stays in stock. I got Boba Fett when he first dropped years ago and now he's out of stock at all stores, except at large mark-ups online. I think keeping him (and others) in more solid rotation will be key to continuing to get new players and competing with GW for retail/online space.

I've had this problem with the LOTR LCG, I actually gave up trying to play it because it seemed like none of the packs I needed were in stock. I've also had people in my area complain about this very problem with IA. And of course the Destiny disaster, I was hell bent on playing that game but given the distribution debacle I have zero interest now.

Chicken and the egg I guess, don't want to reprint until there is the demand.. but by the time you reprint the demand might be gone?

I imagine part of the reason it's so bad with Boba is because of his fan appeal. If I had to guess, I'd say his blister (among some other like Han and Jedi Luke) sells out because it appeals to more than just Imperial Assault players. Collectors and painters are more likely to pick up a Boba figurine to have than, say, General Sorin.

That's a good point, because he is definitely the one I've heard the most complaints about. They also gave him an incredible sculpt, one of their best for sure.

I agree and that's what makes me hesitant with RuneWars. When I used to play GW games, I could get anything I needed for an army whether in store or online. I don't want to get stuck not being able to fill out the right RuneWars army because of availability.

Obligatory "will we/won't we" Friday post for the smallbox.

I didn't expect anything else this week, but looks like X-Wing got another 101 article... would be nice if they could pop out a few of those for IA!! But they might have to change it to IA... 301?

I expect next week at celebration we get a big announcement (next box, app) and then the following Tuesday we see the last of the preview articles for Hera and Chopper, followed by a May release.

Happy Celebration week, everyone! Whether we get IA news or not, I'm sure this will be a big week for Star Wars fans come Thursday!

I definitely want the app more than anything else.

It's a big undertaking, making an app for this game. More than I want it now, I want it done right. Take your time FFG. A solid app with thematic interaction will skyrocket this game.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm thinking we DON'T want any IA news early in the week (until Celebration)...

Correct, when is the FFG presentation, Thursday?

Looks like the panel is on Friday at 6 P.M.

Doesn't give a date for the presentation though:

I don't imagine this will be live-streamed?

A lot of GAMA was. So, maybe?

If it is live streamed, it will be unofficial. That's a guess based on past events. Probably some kind soul will hold their phone aloft, hopefully steadily, and grant us access to the hallowed halls of our heroes in game design.

You are talking from my heart.

I bought the game because of the co-op. But currently i am the only one in my team who can control the imps so i wont get the feeling what i hoped.

Dont missunderstand i still love this game :) but always beeing the bad guy can be very exhausting.
