It's FRIDAY!!!!! Who will we see spoiled today??

By FSD, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

But you can see that the number is swi50. We are.missing 46, 47, 48 and 49! Sounds like small box + 3 ally packs to me!

I would agree with that because twin shadows wave had three ally & villain packs in addition to the twin shadows box. I'm sure that it will be announced in time.

Outstanding catch. May still be delayed until August, but maybe we're getting an update soon after all.

Since we're speculating (with waves of optimism and pessimism) allow me to drop this prediction:

The v2.0 IA Core Box is going to be themed around the Rebels cartoon.

I didn't realize people took our goofing around serious in this thread? lol

Looks like the Star Wars Celebration article says they have a presentation planned which will give us updates on their Star Wars games, I am guessing this is when the next small box gets announced.

So now my hope is that we get a proper IA announcement at the big event, as in previews of what is coming and when.

if all we get is "we're working on an app" then I'll be very grumpy!

46-49 sound really promising though, and fit exactly for a smallbox wave.

1 smallbox (46), a rebel hero (47), an Imperial trooper leader villain (49), and a merc hero that may or may not be 4LOM/Zuckuss (49).

Or both in one pack!

Then stop asking about the app! ^_^

Right, I kind of hope that's the way they go. I like the "buddy" villain packs- and not just because it's more bang for your buck, but because it means that you'll have a mission with 2 ally/villains for free and will have more options if it's won.

Anyway, side note- we got a ton of articles yesterday. 6, by my count. I don't remember ever getting that many in the past!

Zuckuss would be perfect. Way too little Zuckuss products anywhere in the Star Wars merchandise market in the first place.

True.

All right, this is going to be annoyingly speculative, but here goes:

I predict Ackbar as the Rebel hero.

I know we've had speculation of a General Solo or other reiterations of existing characters, but I think that FFG's statement on Luke (in that he was physically a very different character in his Jedi iteration) implies that he's probably the only other alternative model that we're going to get. Any other fixes will probably be done similar to Iggy in the droids wave.

Heroes and villains usually have some connection to the wave that they're in. Lando was in Bespin, Boba in Twin Shadows, Jedi Luke in Jabba's Realm, etc. If the next wave is anything to do with Endor (be it actually on Endor, or on the DSII, or the Imperial Fleet, or some combination of all of the above) Ackbar is a familiar name associated with that battle.

Now, obviously Ackbar falls in line with Tarkin, Mothma, etc. as being a big character who'd fit better in Armada than Imperial Assault. However, I was playing Renegade Squadron earlier this week, and realized that Ackbar was actually a playable hero in the game. Not that it's canon anymore, but it'd show that this would not be the first time Ackbar was "boots on the ground".

Anyway, yeah- told you it'd be annoyingly speculative. They just need to release info so I can stop. :P But yeah, I'd be stoked for an Ackbar.

Besides, this entire argument also applies for Nien Nub and Wedge as well.

I'm still holding out for a "recently unfrozen Han Solo." That would definitely be "physically different." His status is Blind, meaning he can only move if adjacent to another hero to help him. As an action he can use an adjacent hero's ranged weapon with -4 accuracy. As a 2nd action, he can also remove "delusions of granduer" on any figure within 3 spaces, which basically means he adds 2 strain.

I love Ackbar, he's one of my favs, but I just don't see what role he fills with the allies. They already have a lot of support characters and Gideon/C3P0 as skirmish staples. What the Rebels are missing is a large unit, I'd love to somehow see that get filled.. but doubtful with a small box.

But I hope I am wrong, I almost bought into Destiny just to get to play as Ackbar :P But then I remembered CCG's are evil and also they totally flubbed up the distribution lol. I refuse to have to hunt down or 'get lucky' to buy a game, it should be readily available and aggressively in my face to get my money.

There will definitely be a made up villain, there always is (Somos, Sorin, Blaise, Terro) so thats one, there will be a Rebel hero of some sort, so there goes two, and then the third should be a canon villain so ya 4-LOM and Zuckuss would be a good bet to round out all of the mercs... or just one of the two if they still have one OT box planned. That would match the wave we got with TS, but would be one short of what we got with Bespin. Which makes me think it is 4-LOM and Zuckuss together, one less pack but two canon villains.

As for the Rebel hero, I really hope it's Wicket, or maybe a duo or trio Ewok pack since they are so small, win the mission and win all 3 who all fill separate rolls and you get to choose which one to bring to each mission, that would be neat, similar to C3P0 and R2D2. I also think it will be Ewok's because we saw the Rangers in Jabba's Realm.

Minor spoilers for the first book in the Aftermath series (Seriously minor, I'm < 100 pages in)

If it is Endor, we could also get Jas Emari for a Merc villain... Would be cool to start bringing in stuff from the books- though I do think it's unlikely to happen in a boxed wave right now, and her role in the game would be kind of confusing anyway...

In all fairness, the following occurred over like 3 seconds:

*Opens up "news" tab, sees "Plan Your Assault"*

Oh my god, this is it.

*Sees Mon Mothma in art*

Ahhhh, yes, it's gonna be some Episode VI stuff!

*Reads "Preview the Red Heroes..."

Hmm, weird they'd specify "red", that doesn't make any sense, but yay for new heroes!

*"...in Spirit of Rebellion"*

Go die in a fire, Destiny.

I'm hoping for a small box like Degobah and then Endor as a big box, but we'll see

Degobah can probably fit into Yoda's small expansion pack and a campaign mission :)

Wouldn't it be great if they made a speeder bike pack that came with both rebel rider and imperial rider, and all necessary cards? Take care of two factions with one pack, give the rebels a vehicle and a large (2x1) model, and sell a WHOLE lot of em.

They don't need to release a new Han figure, they can still just give him a specific upgrade. I would call it "Promotion", and change him to General Solo with the appropriate adjustments.

I like both ideas.

As far as the bike goes- why not a merc rider, too, maybe ridden by Sullustan bounty hunters? :D

today we get another preview for upcoming packs

Their low deployment costs also make it easy to field a whole cluster of them.

Oh thanks FFG for telling me how to spend my money!! Still upset that there is only a single coming in each pack. But reading article now..

Yeah, I definitely got a "look at how beneficial it will be to buy 2 or 3 of these packs!" kind of vibe, but that's all good. :P

It would be interesting to see a couple of map tiles (like swamp) come in an ally pack.
