Maybe its all being delayed due to the app!!!!!! HYpe meter off the charts!!!!
Seriously though, probably just going to see it in Q3 instead.. maybe they are starting to slow down production as they run out of OT content.

A later release is not without precedent. TS was released in August. If we already know we aren't getting a big box this winter, a later release for the small box makes sense.

I love the optimism here. Which makes me wonder...Is optimism and Jedi thing or a Sith thing? I sort of feel like the Sith were often more optimistic than the Jedi.

Depends. Blind optimism based in passion for oneself ("zomg, we're definitely going to get a Rebels big box this summer with Fenn Rau and Thrawn in it!!!") is definitely more of a sith thing.
Friendly optimism, almost something along the lines of advice ("I don't really know if we're going to get a box anymore this summer, but I hope we do so you guys don't get let down") is more of a jedi thing if it's genuine.

I'm just saying, Yoda and the Jedi council were often very pessimistic, the Emperor on the other hand was really a glass half full sort of guy...
Now more pertinent to the topic: "There is still good in [FFG], I've felt it."

" Finally, Star Wars Celebration is the perfect place for you to catch up on Fantasy Flight Games’s latest Star Wars projects."
Hope this may be related to IA

Not to be a downer, but I think that if they were going to have some big announcement for anything on IA there, they would have included it in their list of their "most popular Star Wars games, including Star Wars: Destiny and X-Wing." If they wanted IA fans to take notice, they would have mentioned IA in the press release. I think a small box is still in the cards at some point this year, but not until August, or maybe even as late as December.
Or maybe not at all.

i would click on dislike if there was one for the lack of fate
Welp, onto new predicitions. If we don't get a small box by August, I predict a Force themed blister pack some time in Q3 featuring Yoda, the Emperor, and Kanan Jarrus or Erza Bridger.
The lack of mention here is a little bit troubling, but take in mind- we already have expansions announced for Destiny, X-Wing, and Armada. I guess we have the Droid wave for IA coming, but by that point it will have almost already arrived.
I'm still not sold that we're gonna hear anything, but I don't this article confirms or denies anything. It's just maddeningly vague (or, more accurately, silent) on this particular game.
Yeah, my first thought when I read Celebration event was - hmmm, no IA mention.
The problem I have with the slowdown of IA releases - if that is what's happening, it's still unclear - is that it doesn't feel the right time at all. The game is still hugely popular in both formats, there's plenty of high quality source material still to be explored, and the Star Wars brand should be strong for at least another 2 years.
All I can think is whole production line is being slowed down, deliberately or due to wider pressures; or resource is being moved to Destiny, which appears to be a runaway success.

Do we actually know how popular the game is compared to the other FFG games out there? We're all obviously terribly biased on this board. Does anyone have any sales or profitability figures for these games broken down year over year? Has FFG ever hosted a tournament for IA the way they are for X-Wing?
I'm worried FFG thinks they have all their market segments covered with Star Wars stuff. Dice and Card people have Destiny. Miniature fans have X-Wing. RPG players have three options to choose from. And that leaves IA kind of stuck in the middle not really satisfying any of those groups fully, save for those of us posting here.

It's the 18th-ranked boardgame on BGG, with > 10,000 rankings. Despite the lull in new announcements that we're in right now it's currently 33rd on their 'The Hotness' list, which means people are still actively playing and posting about it Whether or not it's as popular as X-Wing (it's not) this is still a game that a lot of people play and rate highly. As long as this remains true, and as long as there are still lots of potential expansion ideas, I don't see any reason for them to stop producing content.

Huh, that would actually put IA above X-Wing in both categories, at least right now. Pretty neat, especially since X-Wing had a new wave announced more recently! Though, that may not matter much to FFG over the sound of all the money they're making with X-Wing
This thread is hugely entertaining. I love the waves of excitement followed by the waves of doubt and uncertainty. I think that a few things might be going on: 1) Paul Winchester left the IA team last year. I know that when he left, everything through the end of the OT was basically compete. However, given his importance to the team, I don't think it's unexpected that the timing of releases might be a little off. 2) Changes associated with Asmogee; 3) Data: they now have a couple years of SW games under their belt. They are probably looking at past data to refine things like release schedules. We know that the app is in development (reconfirmed last week) which shows a long-term commitment to the game. I'm excited for the next big thing too and am certain they'll get a couple hundred more of my hard-earned $$ in the long run:)

I completely agree on all the points here.
+ Considering how much stuff we have behind us, i would guess it takes more time to balance new stuff, compared to the old stuff to make sure you are not breaking anything, etc....

Profit. Plain and simple. The Boardgamegeek listing is good (heck, it's how I found the game), but it tells us nothing about how much money FFG is making off the game, which is what really drives what they do at the end of the day. And even that won't necessarily seal the deal.
I will say though, that if we go off that "Number Owned" figure, IA actually looks pretty comparable to X-Wing, considering that X-wing had a two year head start. Maybe we are just in a lull.
The only other FFG game I know of to get an app is Descent, and since that's what IA is based off of, I feel like that's the best comparison.
http://descent2e.wikia.com/wiki/Expansion
So Road to Legend came out in March 2016. And in March 2015... that was the middle of a pretty big drought. They'd gotten the Core Box, 2 big boxes, and three small boxes by then. The game was still getting Lt. Packs and Hero & Monster Collections, but no boxed expansions were coming until Jan 2016.
If that's the model FFG is going for with this, I'd still say we can expect a small box later this year, maybe in Q3. Or maybe they cut that 3rd small box all together and we get one right around the time the app lands at the end of Q4.

Optimism leads to high expectations. High expectations lead to dissapointment. Dissapoitment leads to anger.
Beware optimism, my little Padawan, as it is road to the Dark Side

You're not wrong. If we had actual numbers from FFG about how their new expansions are selling that would be way better, but since we don't I'm just using the BGG interest level as a proxy. It's not perfect, though - as you and subtrendy both pointed out those numbers put IA above Xwing when that's clearly not the case (although my guess it that since XWing isn't really a "board game" the audience is just smaller on that particular site).
I think you're also right about Descent being the closest comparable product. The one thing to remember with that comparison, though, is that even though the games are very very similar the Star Wars IP probably helps out IA quite a lot in terms of bringing larger numbers of people to the game. Hopefully all those extra players is enough to make it worthwhile for FFG to continue publishing past what descent got.
But who knows, even if they do keep putting out IA products (which I think they will) we may see a shift towards more blister pack-only waves and fewer campaigns, as I'd imagine those would take fewer design resources.
Yep, agree with almost all of this, especially the theory of moving more to a blister wave format, and less box expansions. Half of the Descent product line is essentially blister waves.
The other app game at the moment is Mansions of Madness, which is even better than the Descent app. I'm hoping some that added flavour gets put into the IA app.
the one niggle I have with all of this though is that this would still feel like a weird moment to slow the pace; I'd have thought the Endor box (does anyone seriously think it won't be Endor next?!?) was at the design board eons ago - with any sense it would have been conceived around the same time as Hoth, Bespin, and Jabba. The last wave included one unit clearly aimed at Endors, the alliance rangers.
So my guess (and hope) is that we're just experiencing a slight delay - a knock on of all the wider supply and demand issues they're facing - and Endor will still be out over the Summer.

Pleased to meet you.
I'm expecting DSII/Imperial Fleet over Endor.
The new skirmish map doesn't count as an update, right...?
Definitely not
