It's FRIDAY!!!!! Who will we see spoiled today??

By FSD, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Given that it's been almost five years now with the SWLCG (their oldest and longest going SW game) and not a lot of variation from the OT in that game, I think the PT is out in general. Whether that's a Disney decision or what, I have no idea, but I would definitely like to see PT material in a more substantial role in FFG games at some point.

As for getting into IA, I think now is a great time and the game feels like the slowed down only because FFG is going through growing pains with so many games at the moment. IA still has plenty of relevant OT/ST material to go through and at least another year or two before a second edition option.

Wow, BT seems WAY too good for just six deployment points. I mean, the damage that he can deal out each turn is palpable with being focused on every attack and he has 10 health.

Heavy Weapon/Hunter/Droid makes him super versatile.

These new waves are really fun but also making old figures/cards more and more obsolete.

He averages just under 6 damage against a black. That's good but it's right around Storm Troopers, so he's not really obsoleting anything that wasn't already obsolete on day 1.

It's really good to get some more droids. Now we just need to get Rebels some large base figures.

He averages around 7 with his 3 attack option.

So yes, maybe he isn't super underpriced.

Oh wow, BT-1 gets access to the all powerful Hunter cards and the newly powerful Droid cards, this makes him incredibly potent.. and heavy weapon, crazy. Imagine tools for the job for Red/Red/Blue/Green, then assasinate on top of that and maybe even heightened reflexes or locked on if a dodge is rolled. He could potentially do 13 damage in one shot. Obviously that's a lot of command cards but you could **** near one shot a Jedi Luke.

So Triple 0 seems like a bit of a suicidal droid, which is good because he is cheap. Throw him in at the beginning of a round, stun a very important figure and end his movement next to as many as possible to throw weaken around for BT's attack coming next. 8 hit points will take a few attacks to kill at least so that buys you some time. I am a bit disappointed though, I was kind of hoping he would finally be the Empires C3P0, a way for them to get some focuses spread around. But I guess that might be kind of lame to just copy C3P0.

I love the example army, it's neat to see them do that, I would love to see them do this more in future articles, they always do it for X-Wing after new cards are released.

Bee Tee's card is great, especially for 1 point. I was wondering how his 3 attacks would work in clustered situations but now it makes sense. Triple 0's is also quite potent for 1 cost, basically putting his ability on steroids. Little under whelmed so far though with the command cards, hoping the 3 they didn't show are pretty good and not just re prints of the already available ones.

Looks like an interesting skirmish upgrade as well tucked in there. Overall I am happy, this was worth the wait, I can't wait to build a droid army :) I wonder if this means we will be seeing these figures in mid April?

Edit: Bee Tee is great, but you need to actually get him in close range to use him. He is guaranteed what, 2 range? With a high end of 7? If you split his attacks that number varies, but doesn't get much better, and in most cases worse. His average range is going to be somewhere around 4-5 without being able to add anything without a command card. Rangers can pick this guy apart from across the map.. Weequays will snipe him while hidden to cut that range even shorter.. so he hits hard, but like most cannons he needs to be maneuvered properly and that will be the trick. Couldn't Jedi Luke take this guy out in one turn sans command cards? But I guess he better hope he does in case the example I listed above happens :) Risk Vs. Reward! Triple 0 seems like a good meat shield for him as I said above. MHD, Probe Droids with healing command cards, etc..

don't forget that BT-1 can also use maximum firepower! also, his minimum range is 3, with a max range of 10. you can be pretty confident in a 5-6 range shot.

why woudl minimum range be 3?

Don't forget he gets focused before each attack. The minimum accuracy on the blue die is 2 and 1 on the green die.

Blue + Green.

Funny enough his minimum range for the smaller attacks is higher. So if you really need to do 1 damage to a target at range 5, you could use his special attack with the blue die and have the range (and pray the damage goes through, but still, range is reached!)

With the blue die, his minimum range should be 6. 2 on the blue, 1 on the green, and 3 from the ability.

Yeah I specified the minimum in the other thread (and caught it in time there) didn't bother changing it here as I didn't say minimum. But good catch! :)

Well 5 sure, 6 less so. The likelyhood of getting accuracy drops off quick.

Range 5 has an 80% chance of reaching, 4 out of 5; but range 6 sees a big drop to 56%, I'm less confident in a shot so close to 50/50 (without a reroll).

Though if 6 spaces is as close as you can get to a target it's still a good rate if you'd rather go for the attack rather than slow play. Missile Salvo may be the better option at that point.

I'll buy into this expansion but stop buying IA after Endor, as we mostly play campaign. The replay ability is already incredible, and the game so varied that I don't think I will need to add more characters after Endor, and the power creep may just end up detracting from the whole experience.

Plus shortly after that, there is a good chance the app is out and you will be able to recycle all of the physical components you already own to get even more years use out of them.

My last campaign took my group 4.5 months to complete, so we can basically survive off of 2 campaigns a year or so without having to replay anything. I'd say we are set for a while lol.

If only skirmish wasn't so **** fun :)

Honestly, for the first Friday in several, I'm not expecting anything. I guess I'm kind of in despair about any news of a smallbox soon.

...

But I'd love to be wrong about that...

I have a feeling we already got our update for this week, but prove me wrong FFG!!

yep, but it would be interesting for how long we will keep this thread alive (until something new comes, since update for this week was not new)

I saw the IG88 picture and thought for sure it would be a preview of the Jawa and the new upgrade for everyone's favorite assassin droid.

Aaaaaaand....it's Destiny....

I gotta say, I'm starting to really irrationally hate Destiny.

Hate? Why? Its only a collectible card game without any possibilities of buying a ******* card.

Please more imperial assault news and less destiny ones
