Article Predictions. Mostly General Discussion. But there's definately some Predictions scattered throughout.

This is a positive, I have read some the fears/speculations on the RMG forum. This is one thing I still hope they fix in Armada/W-Wing and not 2-3 waves after the fact.

Yeah, any statements to the contrary is fearmongering... They stated it in their initial outlines that, with Runewars - you were not going to be forced to purchase anything outside of faction - which the Essentials kit basically confirms.

Are there that many single faction players in FFG games? I understand in GW games where one army can cost you thousands of $$, but FFG is not nearly as expensive. I am still learning Armada and have stuck with my favorite side Imperial (I have 5 CR90 that I want to run one day) but in X-Wing Empire and Scum have been pretty evenly split with me, but I have ran rebels on multiple occasions. I guess getting into the game staying at one faction could help, but I like some variation.

The thing is, some times you can be faction-preferential, if not single faction - and still be messed up.

To give a specific example.

I am Rebel Faction-Preferential.

I do pick up the odd Imperial Ship, and I do play imperials, but there's one upgrade, specifically that really cheeses me, because I feel I want multiples, but its not a cheap price point (nor is it a ship you'd be willing to get 3+ of).

And that is the Interdictor.

For Flight Commander.

I can get Fighter Coordination Teams out of the Pelta, instead of the Interdictor, which is all well and good. But the crucial double-team officer of Flight Commander is only in a ship that you only get 2 of when you have a specific plan for it. Even in my Imperial Fleet, I can't think of having 3+ interdictors.

I wouldn't feel so bad with the MC30 for APT/TRC, because that's something that really benefits both sides when you pick it up... Your Imperials can run the APTs, and your Rebels still get MC30s and TRCs for Vettes if nothing else.

But the Interdictor is. The Interdictor.

of the Armada players I know personally, I'd say roughly half either exclusively, or near exclusively play one faction.

I just got beat by a crazy double interdictor list that I simply didnt see coming. Just, so, so, so much life. I lit one interdictor up over the course of a few rounds of firing with the following;

1. Ackbar long range TRC30 side arc

2. Ackbar close range TRC30 side arc

3. Ackbar/Defiance long range mc80c side (leading shots)

4. Defiance front/side double arc (leading shots) x2

5. Over the course of time it took three rams. The third one was the final damage point that finally killed it.

I made a couple of key misplays which didnt help my cause any, in part because I was like "trollololol interdictors" but holy heck this thing did not want to die.

My one tournament victory was Double-interdictor after all... But I mean, with FC/FCT... i can easily see I need like, 4-5 copies of that card. And I'm not going to grab 4-5 Interdictors anytime soon :D

Stop.

I can only get so erect.

If you have an erection that lasts more than 4 hours, get medical help right away.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Anyway, so... the next wave on The Boat. That's pretty cool.

In other news, my crew played their Corellian Conflict final battle on Sunday. We were at the game store when they opened (10am), and we managed to get out of there at closing time (10pm), after we cut the game short at the end of round 5. We (the Imperials) were pretty much doomed to lose at that point, but were still 3 points ahead.

I declare it a glorious victory for the Empire.

Has anyone gotten their CC kits yet? Were still waiting on both that and Q2 kits....

Also, does the A Wing really have the bomber symbol?

From the canadian distrib, the Sentry Box was sent 1 of 2 Q2 kits, but not the CC kit yet.

But the CC kits are apparently hitting some places in the US - One of the Portland Gaming Stores got theirs earlier this week was said on the FB Post.

And as for Bomber - That's what the pictures have shown. It has Counter, and the rules for Counter, just the Bomber Symbol on the card.

Oh yeah it says Counter 2 and all, it's just going to bother me to no end that it has the bomber symbol...

I might have to doctor it up a bit once we get them in.

Yes, I picked it up on Monday, which was when it arrived at my FLGS. We played the grand finale on Sunday, so the distribution of the prizes happened after the fact (Tuesday, to all but one participant).

Do you happen to know which of the 5 authorised distributors your FLGS uses?

I'm afraid I do not know this.

No Worries, was just curious anyway... Its not like I can contact anyone but Lion Rampant up here, anyway. :D

True.

I'm curious what kind of deal Lion Rampant has with FFG that allows them to remain the monopolist on FFG games distribution. I understand the need for a middleman, but from the perspective of both the producer and consumer more middlemen is generally preferable to one.

My store has the CC kit. I believe he orders through Alliance.

I'm pretty sure it was set up on FFG's end way back in the day when they were by their lonesome. Setting up singular point distribution arrangements for Internationals is good business sense for the US based company*, as long as the distributor does their job... Doubly so in FFG's case, where Factory based Deliveries all go via FFG HQ before going out again, since that allows you to control your supply chain a little better - rather than letting Factories operate as pseudo-distributors at "their costs". If you can make your own network, and you can administer your own network, you at least know what you're paying for.

And I dare say that sort of international arrangement (not unique to Rampant, but every point International) is just sort of Grandfathered in, in that case.

If it were to change, I'm sure it would have when they cut back the amount of Authorised US Distributors to 5... But those sorts of Contractual obligations is well above my pay grade.

* "On Cost Alone" - the argument can be made in the other direction when it comes to management and consumers.

Question, sorry if I missed it early.

What does this give us as a timetable for articles?

We've got 2 Articles for 2 releases, effectively.

I expect to see the first around the time it is ready to go from "ON THE BOAT" to "SHIPPING NOW", and the seocnd in the middle of the 2-week "SHIPPING NOW" period...

WHich is around about a month from now for the first article, by that measure.

By another Measure, we could expect an Article in 2 weeks, and another after that, and then just a "NOW AVAILABLE" when they hit the marketplace in 6-10 Weeks.

Some people have their dollars on Friday, since Celebration starts tomorrow and they've promised Star Wars gaming news.... (Personally, I expect it to be Organised Play stuff, if anything).

Also, Next Week (Monday) is the 6 Month Anniversary of the previous FAQ. So that may warrant at least a notice, too.

As always, thanks Dras!

Not only bumping the thread but a small bit of additional information:

My game store's main distributor has wave 6 arriving in June. Official pre-orders for the store need to be in by May 1st. Thus I would assume early June would be the ETA for wave 6.

FFG official release dates are always Thursdays so I'm afraid the best you could really hope for is the Thursday before or after.
