If anything, the thing to remember about Australian Spiders is, the bigger they are, the more harmless they are...

Australia's Black Widow is the size of a Pinhead, after all...

BUT, it comes with one Glaring Exception.

The reason even I AVOID SYDNEY AT ALL COSTS

I'm not here to be liked.

I'm here to be listened to.

Hopefully wave 5 articles soon.

There will probably be at least a couple of articles or mentions about Star Wars Destiny, as it is supposed to be released next week.

Limited Pre-Release is next week....

They havn't listed a date for actual release yet.

Limited release of a CCG game? Ebayers going to go nutz. Have mercy on a gamers soul (pocketbook).

I feel good about it. Objectives from the campaign is my bet.

Judging from the Squadron reveal article, we probably will only get a total majority of the objectives spoiled as well.

Leaving things to the imagination.

I'm hoping for some Wave 5 insight soon.

I'm hoping for the light cruiser. Really excited for what this does for Imperial builds.

Yea I want to switch to Imps so it's time to start thinking of new fleets.

Yea I want to switch to Imps so it's time to start thinking of new fleets.

I've been wanting to run more Imperials, but I have an usual number of self imposed requirements:

1) Minimal squadrons. That's kinda been my thing since I started playing. I'd like to play in an entirely different fashion with Imperials.

2) Vader. I need to be able to make a fleet that brings this guys as the commander. Why? Because he's ******* Vader. He's the original BAMF. If you're going dark side, you do it right.

3) An Imperial Class Star Destroyer. I might settle for a Victory or an Interdictor, but I have a hard time not using the ubiquitous ISD when that is literally the only Imperial ship we see in the original trilogy.

I've long theorized Vader likes lots of red dice since they have the most limited options for re-rolls. That's what the Light Cruiser brings, so I'm going to try the Vader route with them instead of TRCs. I'm thinking 1x ISD and 3x Light Cruisers. The question is what to do with the squadron compliment. I always have trouble finding the right mix for Imperials because they are so specialized. If I go more than 60 or so points into anti-squadron, that's often dead weight against ships. I'm considering the '**** it' route, go the squadronless route, and take a pair of Raiders to use as pickets for the ISD. Wanna get the big bad? You're gonna need to go through multiple double black AA batteries. Adding Kallus and Impetuous to that would have minimal cost and the Raiders themselves would still be extremely dangerous in the ship fight.

Well, info has to come at some stage...

There's still quite a few items that moved to shipping now recently that could get bits ahead of us.... Plus X-Wing is only halfway through their set of releases, so you'd think they'd get round up as well... IA too...

I ran against 3 Tie/I with Dengar and an alpha strike from that hurts badly. I'd consider another Tie/I and Howlrunner and see how that plays. They may not be good against ships, but can be used to deter your opponent from certain lanes of travel if you set them up properly.

Vader! I would love to get a a 2xVSD1 + Interdictor with Vader + Goz to work, but it has thus far ended up being so vulnerable. VSDs aren't quite good enough at long range, but melt quickly when up close to big arcs or black dice. And Interdictor shenanigans aren't quite enough to secure objective benefits/points. I always feel like I'm sacrificing something (beefed up VSD red dice means fewer quadrons, or Interdictor Combat refit means fewer ways to influence the battlefield). Anyway, I love Vader's streamlined approach to rerolling any and all dice. Fewer upgrades and things to worry about. Fun to take regardless of the outcome.

If you want an alpha strike that hurts, try Howl, Mauler, Saber and 3 TIEs backed up by Flight Controllers, Expanded Hangars, and a squad token from the ISD. It throws 30 blue dice with 5 re-rolls plus the Mauler damage. Saber Squadron and Mauler to knock out a critical part of an enemy squadron formation. It's only 67 points of squads and 11 points of upgrades on the ISD. I've played it, but...meh. Like most of the Imperial squadron builds I come up with, they don't seem to do all that much in the end.

Can't even pre-order this from Amazon yet. It's not even in their catalog. So that would mean it's at least a month away.

Well, went on the boat 5th of October, and FFG seemed to relate in the article that its not too far from LGSs...

So, being that it might update to "shipping now" later today, that would put it at 2 weeks.....

2-4 weeks surely isn't outrageous for it.

Is it FFG policy that local stores get it before Amazon? We saw that with Wave 4. I sure hope that was a one-off. The only day I shop in person for Christmas is Black Friday, since it's the only day where the discounts justify paying sales tax.

Impossible to say.

(Not FFG), but Asmodee - they're very big on simultaneous releases worldwide.

And, for recently, putting Brick-and-Mortar stores ahead of Online Only Re-sellers, of which Amazon is endemic of the worst...

Amazon isn't a re-seller. Amazon is a retailer. Quite the difference there. And Amazon is good for customers, as it keeps my price down. I can buy a *lot* more product, get free shipping , and not have to pay our ridiculously high local sales tax. Efficiency passed to the customer is a good thing.

I've never understood the Amazon hatred. Creative destruction is a good thing for the economy and the consumer.

I work in eCommerce and market analysis, Amazon is the worst offender of virtually every trade practice in a race to zero, or in their case sometimes below zero.

Because its very difficult to separate Amazon the Retailer, (which does exist!) with its single purchasing buckets, to Amazon the Reseller, who uses automated programs to set product availability and pricing based on percieved price and demand... (Which is why IA Boba Fett was over $60 just last week)....

Amazon the Reseller who refuses to onsell certain products from other sellers until a minimum product spend of their own has been achieved...

Things like that. That's all.

Four times I've ordered from Amazon. Four times I either received the wrong product, or no product at all. Anecdotally, that's why I hate on Amazon...

(Twice, they've sent me a letter that said what I had ordered was not available to be sent to my Area, despite their advertisement and an earlier email confirmation stating the opposite... Twice, no refund, either.)

One time, the Exchange went like this:

"I'd like to Purchase this Softcover book. Ship to Australia."

"Its x$"

"Paid."

--- Three Weeks Pass ---

"Order lost, recently recovered - Softover now out of stock, order upgraded to hardcover, additional $x charged."

"But..."

"Additional Postage also charged..."

"But..."

--- Three Weeks Pass ---

"Hardcover unable to be sent to Australia."

If you swear by Amazon (and you're not the only one! I have some family in the states who does, too, with their Prime subscription), then I contend simply, that you are one of the lucky ones....

That's all.

I can't roll DICE to save my life. What's the hope I have with Online Retailers?!\

But as an online Retailer, amongst online Retailers... Amazon has a Reputation... Deserved or not, well, I'm not a (full) online Retailer, so I can't really comment on the validity of it - only state that, on top of that, my own anecdotal evidence points to the fact that it may indeed be true.

That would be countered by your anecdotal evidence to yourself - and of course, always wanting to avoid Sales Tax is also an effort one must take in this world to save money...

But I hope, at the very least, I've shown you the other side of the argument - as you did for me, of course :)
