Article Predictions. Mostly General Discussion. But there's definately some Predictions scattered throughout.

By Drasnighta, in Star Wars: Armada

That's what I mean. Two years now, its topped out in, admittedly, Distributor sales to Retail (which is where the measurement is done)...

So I was kind of challenging the posters assumption that it was "less lucrative", or rather, what its less lucrative in relation to - because really, only X-Wing and Armada even somewhat share the same production system (IA and Board Games generally bypass the 'prepaint' system, which is why they're out quicker typically)...

Which makes the CC delay all the more baffling.....

Income is one thing. But don't forget expenses. Armada has far more material consuming expansions than most of the FFG games, because they have to put up a new production line for every new ship they give in the expansion. It's a lot of money in itself, plus add the price of plastic and paint - while the expansions for other game sometimes only mean a bunch of new cards - paper. Therefor I think the profit margin on an Armada expansion or the core game itself is far narrower than on other titles and even though they sell more Armada stuff, the profit itself may not be better than what they gain on other games. This is only my theory of course.

Exactly the same could be said for X-Wing, though.

Is there a profit margin?

Yes

So hire the staff to run it.

Business is that simple

So in a slight reality check for the thread (what happened we were so all over the place before?)...

I honestly think FFG shared the details of the Wave 5 and Correllian expansions very soon hoping that they could get them out by Christmas. I'm not thinking there was anything devious or lacking business savvy about this time-frame. That is if we get them. If we do not I really think the issue has to be the manufacturing and shipping side. There is no other explanation or reason why FFG would want to delay these waves/expansions.

The only thing I would definitely like a little faster (as many have pointed out) is an FAQ. I do think that is important and they should stay on top of that.

I think, to their own detriment, they are keeping the CC back to release it with wave five. Such in my opinion is a mistake because getting an eleventh our solution or their shopping now page being incorrect, they are going to lose out on Q4 sales due to that decision.

Well, there we are, page 70.

And it's the weekend, so those of us (well, you) hitting the 'refresh' button on the news page can give it a rest for a couple days.

But I'm with you, it would be nice to get some recognition; remind us that they do love the game that we also love.

Regarding a prediction (which I haven't made yet), I'll put my prediction in for the thing I want; Corellian Conflict. I'm just really interested in some inkling into the campaign's game mechanics.

Out makes me wonder what where they even doing the first half of the year? I think done people are correct in saying they are understaffed, which is partly due to them being located it literally the middle of nowhere.

But look at where the delays are (if they are to be believed).

When Wave 5 and CC were announced, they were "In Development"... They remained there for a short while (just a couple of weeks), before going to "At the Printer".

Ostensensibly, once they are "At the Printer", they are out of FFG's hands, as they are not something they produce in house... The Alt-Art Cards are something they do, and specifically, that is why they have a different texture to the other Upgrade cards.

This is a very long "At the Printer" period for these... We know that FFG outsources them to Chinese Manufacturers, and of course, once you outsource, direct control on what happens to it between corporations (and countries) is only manageable through, effectively, Threats on Both Sides... Which we know is a wonderful way to do business.

FFG may have done nothing wrong here... They had a projected timeline for Production and Release... Said timeline was discussed and agreed upon, as per outsourcing agreements. Then something happened (looking at you, Hanjin!) and someone, somewhere, was forced to Prioritise... Was that FFG, asked to pinpoint which things to get out first ("Concentrate on X-Wing and Destiny"), or was it someone on the production end, who really, doesn't know and effectively picked at Random, and take the hit for any missed quotas and deadlines?

We don't know. We can assume. We can suppose. We can consider, and we can guess.... But we won't ever know.

I agree there as far as five goes but cc just Doesn't quite for that bill. I'm not mad about it, obviously something has gone wrong at this point.

It certainly fits the bill if you consider it a "One off, low cost, low volume, low penalty for non-delivery" items on the Producers end.... :D

It's just irritating that we've been having THIS same discussion each and every release.

Wave 1? Delayed. Wave 2? Delayed. Wave 3/4? Delayed. 0 for 3 there FFG.

Not wave 4.... Lol since it was just the second half of wave three!

I hear they promoted Pedro to head of shipping.

This is all the fault of the xxxx political party! Candidate Y is responsible for setting up a situation where a donkey on a rowboat is shipping our miniatures across the ocean.

If people would just vote for candidate Z, this would never happen again!

You and I know they were one wave split up.

I don't.

Because, y'know, I don't contend to know better than the people designing and making it.

I think Phoenix Home will be awesome since you can do Raymus and FCT and Flight Commander.

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

So not a huge spoiler but they just revealed a new Tie Interceptor Ace on Rebels, something Scarrus (I don't know the spelling). It's not Soontir Fel as much as I had hoped.

I mentioned it before but i'll say it again, even though Scarrus is unlikely since we're getting Ciena Ree, season 3 of Rebels is introducing tons of new content we may see in the upcoming wave. There may be legitimate holds in terms of spoilers.

Now that doesn't mean they couldn't do articles on the squadron II packs but maybe they're holding off on that so they can do those articles closer to the rest of the wave.

I actually know the inverse. One is called Wave 3, that one is Wave 3. The other one is Wave 4.

I suspect that they were designed together with the original intent of being released as one Wave... But they are two different waves because that term means what FFG says it means, not what complainers on the internet want it to mean based on their speculation.

Well.. if it weren't for the slow Chinese outsourced manufacturers we'd have very expensive (GW style) models produced in the US and on time.

Price or speed, that's globalization for ye.
