Article Predictions. Mostly General Discussion. But there's definately some Predictions scattered throughout.

Speaking of the gunboat - why no TIE Avenger?

Now, I don't want to get into the politics of it, and I would stress that I have no opinion myself, but:

I think the most common answer to that is "It Sucks".

And really, its little less than that.

For those who are Nostalgia-Driven for TIE Fighter, it seems to break people into two groups - those who love the GunBoat, and those who hate the GunBoat... That is it. Everything else is irrelevant to that argument.

The Avenger sucks? Really? But the Defender doesn't? The lolz...

The gunboat on the other hand...pure distilled trash. So utterly not sw. I hates it forever.

Caveat: I never played X-Wing, TIE Fighter, or any of that Series... (At that time in my life, I was solidly a Wing Commander player, for my space flight sims.)

But when I look at it, the only one which really breaks the design aesthetic is the Defender... The Gunboat is somewhat reminiscent of the Lambda with its cockpit, High fin and folding wings...

But the defender, supposedly an evolution of the system, breaks the system by inverting the Panels. If all 3 panels were the other way, then it would make more sense... Because then it would a single-step evolution of the interceptor into the defender... But that panel flip really changes up the Aesthetic, and I wonder if there is a 'missing link' craft there...

Also, what I consider to be the Bad News.

If there is no Change on Status for Wave 5 or Corellian Conflict, By Tuesday, October 11 - Then, barring any special shipments, the "Standard" shipping time of 8 Weeks on the Boat, 2 Weeks to Instore, will leave us AFTER CHRISTMAS.

Which makes over 50% of my Christmas list. It's going to be an unfun year... :(

Hope you're ready to get clothing only. Those were how my parents and relatives trolled me on Christmas. I mean, not like I wasn't grateful or anything... but as a kid... :D

Actually when you look at the Tie Phantom from the top wing to one of the side wings the shape is the same as one of the inverted wings of the Tie Defender.

I think the point of the inversion is to differentiate the Defender from the wings of the Advanced and Interceptor which I personally think is smart. Inverting the wings makes the Defender far more distinguishable from the rest of the Ties when seen from a distance.

The Tie Avenger sucks because it tries too hard to keep with the aesthetic of the Tie Series and ends up looking neither original or a even a good kit bash.

I agree, it is more distinguisahble... But I can't see how you'd come to that, when so far, every design has had inwardly curving wings, why suddenly go outside ?

Because to go inside you would end up with the TIE Cyclone - and honestly? It's not a pretty thing.

In Star Trek how did the Defiant come about when every other ship in the Federation has a giant saucer?

The Defender is a fairly unique Tie Fighter with shields and hyperdrive and is supposed to be able to operate on solo missions. If any ship should differentiate itself the Defender is the one to do it.

That Jabba's Palace IA expansion has gotten a LOT of love from them.

I'm ready for some love.

I'm ready for this thread to be on page 2 finally.

How is this ugly?

A nice cross between Vader's tie and the Interceptor.

At this point, this would be the best possible outcome. Otherwise it would mean that FFG has serious internal issues.

Clearly there are issues. Kniffen is out, for example. How serious the changes are, I don't know. But let's face it: there will be delays. Like with all the other waves. FFG is a bit logistically challenged...

But at the same time, the Gunboat has Shields and a Hyperdrive, and it is a shuttle style, which have Shields and Hyperdrives, which differentiates it completley from the TIE Series, which, until you get to the later models themselves, were a style that did not involve Shields and Hyperdrives....

One anomaly should not justify another anomaly, only raises further questions on design intents...

I'm sorry dude but that ship is jank. It's cool you like it, everything deserves love, but that is not a great ship design. From the front it looks like an Interceptor, from above a tie advanced with strange wings. It's a kit bash that is nowhere near as cool or unique as the Defender or Phantom.

This is what FFG has reduced us to, fighting over the bajillion variants of Ties. :D :D

I mean this is the what? 3rd possible delay for armada? Or is it 4th?

What if the delays are planned and they act like they are "delays" just to build hype.

Literally everything armada related has been delayed.

Is an ON TIME RELEASE too much to ask for?

There is definitely something about the Armada line that is harder to produce or is more apt to delays.

They spit out those unpainted IA figures like bonbons.

Weekend calling.

Have fun guys.

I think FFG bought stock in Shapeways, because every delay has me filling a virtual cart with glorious ships that they haven't even teased yet.

Oh well, Separatist fleet, here I come.
