Honestly?

its an absolutely sound investment from FFG to tailor custom made components in their printed Dice, with the IP of the Star Wars License, and then aim it simultaniously at both the Dicemasters and the Magic: The Gathering Crowd.

As their first truly collectable game, it has a measure of risk in the fact that it could be a total flop - but it will be backed up with Organised play, which will see some interesting things develop from a gameplay point of view - I make the assumption that they're effectively just doing to collect-ups as most of what is available is random - and they won't be looking at Booster Drafts or anything like that in the short term. (I havn't gone through their OP document yet).

From a Gameplay point of view, I find it somewhat interesting from a Mechanics standpoint, but I have no stomach, or wallet, for Collectable games. I would consicer picking up a colelction second-hand in a couple of years time to play with my son as he gets older, as it seems to foster a bunch of basic addiition;subtraction and odds in it, without being overly complex, unless you make it so. Same reason why I have a small Monsterpocalypse collection in the basement gathering dust that I bought second-hand.

For the most part. Very smart, very sound investment from FFG.

Personally don't care for it or the excitement it generates, as I cannot stand pure collectables.

The force is weakening with this one.

Are we really taking this overboard? I mean we got 2 (1) waves 2 months ago. We can't have extenuated all the options in them yet? I feel like this is more of a Wave 5 announced too early and should have been announced on Force Friday or something.

Well, its not so much Wave 5 that's got things in the twist - its the Correllian Conflict.

We, (obviously erroneously) assumed that an All-Card-and-Paper expansion would take less time than a Wave, rather than more.

It was offically previewed on August 5. At which point it went to "At the Printers". And has been there since.

Destiny was announced at the same time - it has more complicated components (printed-on dice, not stickers), and yet, is done and on the way faster, in what must be assumed is much greater numbers, in time for a Launch party in the 3rd Week of November.

I think as far as the preview articles, people are just excited to hear more. And thats fine.

I think people are geowing gradually more upset about the lack of an FAQ. But hey we'll see where we stand come thursday.

I think FAQ should come first. Then do wave 5 and CC when those are on the boat over. I don't care about silly dead lines or doing an article a week. They could do all wave 5 in one week and no one would complain until they want wave 6....like 3 weeks later.

After all, we are already awaiting wave 7, Scum ships, CIS and Republic ships, Resistance and FO ships, and dual faction ships. So someone will go crazy. Eventually.

I brought a slightly retro Ackbar H1 fleet, specifically designed to murder flotillas, because I've about had my fill of them.

In the event I met an all-ship Ackbar fleet with H1+3MC30s, a 2xISD Fireball (tough match), and at the top table there was actually a guy with a single Gozanti (blow to bits the moment it entered red range).

I remember reading an article on how long it took Vader to realize the Emperor straight up lied to him that involved now mostly Legends (although they did refer to some of the new comics so maybe some of it would be "canon"). Imagine being Anakin and realizing you were absolutely used. Makes you think about how evil Papa Palpatine really was. Anakin was just an idiot who fell for a bill of goods that never was delivered.
