There is definitely space for a medium-base rebel ship, they're crying out for one. But you're re-inventing the wheel. The rebels have no shortage of useful carriers in all three size classes where they have ships. Why not go for a medium base ship with Squadron 1 and more firepower? Double ion looks very interesting, an offensive retrofit for DCaps, good shields but middling (3) engineering and stick with the defence tokens that you've picked.

The ion squad 1 version could be the other variant of the mc45, Ill put it together today

I think it compares interestingly with the AF. The AF is not so good at commanding squads but has its brace and a defensive retrofit as well as better shields and engineering so it will survive longer.

As a ship it wants to be at medium range fo firing but its defence tokens want it to be at long range, so there's a real dilemma there for the player which I like.

Maybe change rear arc to blue/red? That would keep it consistent with the other arcs.

Still unsure on the flak and if it's overpowered on flak.

Otherwise it feels unique and doesn't squeeze out the AF. I can see it being really interesting to play.
