Going to try this out as a Palpy Flagship:

Victory II (85)
• Emperor Palpatine (35)
• Captain Needa (2)
• Weapons Battery Techs (5)
• Phylon Q7 Tractor Beams (6)
• XX-9 Turbolasers (5)
• NK-7 Ion Cannons (10)
• Harrow (3)
• Engine Techs (8)
= 159 Points

You could have put Minister Tua and ECM on there if you wanted to make it The Most Expensive VSD In The World.

And seconded about Dcaps. Mandatory inclusion for VSD2s in my view (after my 3 VSD fleet last week turned an Ackbar Conga in to a new debris field by turn 4).

While I would typically agree, I dont personally like D-caps. They are one use and I dont like single use items. I do agree with Jabba, and will change it around to:

Victory II (85)
• Agent Kallus (3)
• Weapons Battery Techs (5) Improve probability of getting crits off.
• Quad Laser Turrets (5)
• Quad Battery Turrets (5) - More blues
• NK-7 Ion Cannons (10) - wacky crit
= 113 Points

and moving Papa Palp to an ALC.

I don't really like 1 time use items either but d-caps is an exception and the reason: You'll be at long range when you use d-caps, you will then move after firing and they will also likely move after you fire making it "reasonable" that you're now within medium range where they wouldn't have an impact. Their goal is to, effectively, give an extra turn of medium range firepower and for 3 points that's a pretty solid upgrade.

I also sympathise with the 'single use isn't great' argument but your point is spot on. Your VSD's attack at long range goes from a typical 1.5 damage to a typical 3 damage (before rerolls/modifiers). Even braced or evaded, that's all of one shield from a small ship and a decent chunk from a medium ship.

My 3-VSD game gave me the chance to throw 5 blue and 3 red at long range (with a CF dial and Quad Battery Turrets) with Leading Shots which gave me 4 damage at long range. I was able to get two of those bad boys hitting Home One on turn 2, which left him with no shields on 2 banks and some damage cards.

I'm considering trying out a VSD-1 Dominator. My thinking is - QBT, External Racks, Dominator, Ordnance Experts. That would give me 3 Red, 1 Blue at long range, 3 Red, 3 Blue at medium range, 3 Red, 3 Blue, 5 Black (once) at close range - for 97 points.

A disproportionate amount of single-use cards are highly competitive: Hondo, Pryce, Bail, Walex, Lando, External Racks, Boarding Troopers, Boarding Vader, Raddus, Profundity, and Grav Shift Reroute to name a few. Time will tell for Ezra, Sabine, and Proximity Mines but there’s a solid trend.

Well, at least they are not Beskar Steel

Ill bet we see a Starhawk Article tomorrow. Maybe we'll see a Star Hawk in Mandalorian.

Do they release preview articles on Fridays now? They used to only release an article of what’s released that particular week or I could be completely wrong lol. It would be awesome if they do release an article.

No, No articles before the FFG Live Armada show on the 19th. I would think we will get an Article next week after the live stream.

If I bet there is an article everyday, one day I'll be right?

As the most expensive VSD, all is about luxury, not utility🤣

I regularly run over-upgraded ships. I believe in quality of activation of activation advantage.

So for me, I wasn’t looking at that as “ermahgerd! 140 points before admiral!” I was just trying to see if all the upgrades made sense together.

IO over Chiraneau and this is an overpriced, but still formidable ship designed to wear out defense tokens quickly.

Then you're gonna love this:

Fleet 900 (53/400/400)

Assault Prototype (250 + 97: 347)
+ Darth Vader (36)
+ Director Krennic (8)
+ Intel Officer (7)

+ Advanced Transponder Net (5)
+ Quad Laser Turrets (5)
+ Leading Shots (4)
+ SW-7 Ion Batteries (5)
+ Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
+ Linked Turbolaser Towers (7)
+ Ravager (4)
5 x Tie Bomber Squadron (5 x 9)
Tie Fighter Squadron (8)

I should call it "if I just got a shot on it".

Needs and TRCs is 9 for one fixed die one top of Vader Rerolls, Leading Shots, and Krennic. Seems like it’s unnecessary.

but yeah, I look at that SSD and think, “sure”

Leadings are actually less necessary. Most of the time you get hits on every die before LS. On the other hand you can always turn 1 hit into 2.

This lovely thing can potentially kill a brand new ISD at medium range with one shot.

I predict we get the announced Live Stream today ( which I can't watch until after work today as I'll be out in the field)

and shortly after two preview articles for the Onager and the Starhawk, along with a release date.
