Article Predictions. Mostly General Discussion. But there's definately some Predictions scattered throughout.

By Drasnighta, in Star Wars: Armada

I finally cracked open my ritr book tonight and read though it...im not sure i like the new campaign.

Theres a huge reliance on tokens now, several of which carry on.

A lot of the resources are shared fleet wide.

Team battles seem like theyre going to be frequent( which is a pain in the *** to organize if your group doesnt have a set meeting day).

No limit on large ships so it'll be common to see isd's in 200 pt starter games.

More secret secrets grand admirals have to keep track of ( bases choose their objective when created, not on the fly).

I think aspects of the campaign are better but I'm really worried going in.

If you hyperspace assault in a Demo-Glad with Ozzel, do they make a speed 1 manuver on deployment?

Ozzle:"At the start of the first round, you may execute a speed-1 maneuver."

Hyperspace Assault: "Special Rule: At the start of any round after the first round, [...]"

Ozzle only lets you make a maneuver at the start of turn one but Hyperspace Assault only lets you deploy from turn two and onward, so no

Thank you, so it would be better to hyperspace in the other Glad title.

So how about the mandalorian trailer? Very impressed. I will be getting Disney+ for this as well as the marvel shows but man the mandalorian just looks fantastic.

My wife and I discussed getting Disney+...

Lets just say, the number of exclusive sites to watch things on may be causing a rise in 'piracy' [legal note: piracy means you make money off it, no one I know makes money off downloading]

Not, that I would ever partake in such practices and cost multi-billion dollar companies money...

That would be...

Wrong.

Now that we have had two articles about RitR, when do you think it will be available?

I had hoped they’d have said so after the second.

That is what I was hoping too. I'm thinking in the next two weeks.

My bet is the end of September

I was thinking about what all you can do with a few of the new upgrades and thought about this, let me know what you think.

Arquitens Command Cruiser (59)
• Auxiliary Shields Team (3)
• Redundant Shields (8)
• Heavy Turbolaser Turrets (6)
= 76 Points

Heavy Turbolaser Turrets are not that good on most ships, and I definitely wouldn't try them on an Arquitens, which will usually be producing 2-3 damage out of its best arc. GK explains the math here: http://armadaihaveyounow.blogspot.com/2018/04/wave-2-upgrades-heavy-turbolaser-turrets.html?m=1

Better of with AP and TRC on an arquitens. Tried and tested to always perform well.

You could stick tua on it and add shield team and redundant shields to make it a tank, but then you are getting up into VSD/ISD pricing.

My wierd Arquitens day dream builds

Arquitens Command Cruiser (59)
• Expert Shield Tech (5)
• Auxiliary Shields Team (3)
• Reinforced Blast Doors (5)
• Linked Turbolaser Towers (7)
= 79 Points

Arquitens Command Cruiser (59)
• Captain Needa (2)
• Auxiliary Shields Team (3)
• Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
= 71 Points

Arquitens Command Cruiser (59)
• Projection Experts (6)
• Redundant Shields (8)
• Linked Turbolaser Towers (7)
= 80 Points

Arquitens Light Cruiser (54)
• Director Krennic (8)
• Enhanced Armament (10)
= 72 Points

Arquitens Light Cruiser (54)
• Expert Shield Tech (5)
• Reinforced Blast Doors (5)
• Linked Turbolaser Towers (7)
= 71 Points

I've been reading up more on armor tactics recently (working on a 10 russ army for 40k/I like armor) and I have been also working on my Armada strategy/tactics/doctrine at the same time. I know I play a little differently viewing my ships more as peices of armor, but there is also a very strong lack of detailed graphics I can find. You find dozens of good graphics for Armor combat where as maybe 8 for naval formations and tactics.

In particular, I have been known by my local group to employ the Line formation while moving across the board from one corner to the other (depends on objective) using my VSD as the second to last ship, and a GSD taking the rear. Then, turning 45°ish to a Echelon with the VSD being the anvil to my arquitens/GSD hammer. It works 70% of the time I would say.

My question is, where do you derive your general strategy from, do you have anything different you do from your local groups normal? Whats the deal with the lack of naval tactics online?

X-Wing got damage decks. Maybe we will one day.

Maybe when clone wars comes out. Would be nice for new people to buy what they want.

Anyone else looking at going to Capacup over in PA, October 24thish? I plan on trying to go over to it for Armada, just want to know if anyone else is looking at it.

I went last year. I may go this year, but I'm not sure. My new baby makes it harder to get out to tournaments.

I know there are 7 people signed up so far. I haven’t signed up yet, but plan on being there and maybe bringing one other person.

Man, had to go back a little to get here. I made a discord for the Vermont, area? Here is the eternal link:

I assume you keep up with the New England FFG Facebook group as well? We have a pretty solid group that covers Eastern MA and Southern NH and there is another group that covers CT and Western MA. We have a lot of crossover when it comes to tournaments and would love to see you and others at some tournaments and at least some of us would likely try and make it to a VT tournament from time to time if there are any.

Sorry but I am not a fan of Discord...

I was unaware of such places. I will find it.
