FYI, the same thing happened to X-wing wave 14 - in the same magazine even. I suspect is it still considered a "leak" because the magazine isn't supposed to be out yet.

Today I learned that Luke and Leia were 19 at the time of ANH, and Han was 29.
Today I learned that to become an officer in the Alliance to Restore the Republic you only need to be the adoptive daughter of a senator, be a senator yourself, or own a laser sword.
Today I realized that I've done nothing with my life, and my military career will never live up to Luke, Leia, or Alexander the Great.

If the world is about to be destroyed by a Super Weapon, they will let any pilot fly, if it means one more fighter in the sky. This was a sub-plot in Independence Day.

To be fair, Leia was using her Senatorial status to move supplies and Intel for the Rebellion, and she was the adopted daughter of one of the founders. Nepotism is still a thing in Star Wars, ask Hux.
Luke became an officer because he was one of 7 Starfighter pilots to survive the attack on the Death Star, and the one that got the kill shot.

IIRC, the X-wing was specifically designed with the ability to quickly train new pilots in mind. We’re also not perfectly clear on how much R2 was helping out. Combine that with the fact Luke was experienced with the T-14, another Incom craft, and the scenario becomes somewhat less ridiculous.

Wasnt he also trying to go to the local imperial accademy with his buddies? Pretty sure that was a plot point that was sorta overlooked. If he was trying to go to be a pilot he likely had to preform apptitude tests beforehand, and they would have cleared it then.
Yeah, Luke mentions he bullseye womp rats with a T-14. A training craft that is used to train pilots.
So not like he has zero ability especially with the force by his side.
It's much more believable than a small kid who jumps in a fighter with no idea how to fly it but uses spinning as a neat trick.

I mean, in the defense in that idea, pod racing certainly isnt childs play either. We are talking about a kid who basically piloted a Miata with jet engines strapped to it. And they are likely star fighter engines that are being used. So while Anakin didnt have star fighter experience, it was still some, craft experience. Obviously I cant use my car experience for a jet, but I'm sure I could figure out a M1A1 MBT.
