You have to admit though - they certainly SEEM, as a business, to defy business trends on individual projects as long as their overall margin is positive ...

Theirvexpansion into digital design will only help that too - it’s certainly letting them be experimental with “unique” board games...

I don't know, they keep putting out apps like what I've heard about the X-wing app and that expansion is going to be short lived. I compare them a lot but GW did some digital builders back in the early 00's that were TERRIBLE. Kept them out of the digital market for a decade and even then they just started by sticking a toe into the apple market(not sure where they're at now, I like kill team so far but I'm not terribly interested in going back into full scale 40k, 8th seems better than 7th but still a mess).

It’s not the Apps I’m talking about, but the Steam Games they’re planning.

From their FFI splitiff

Here's hoping but my perspective on things that don't exist yet isn't ever going to be the bright shining possiblities, it's going to be the long track record of games poorly translated in the past by other companies (I'm looking at you Warmachine Tactics)

having said that, I would be REALLY excited to play a solid X-wing/Armada simulator, even if they took some liberties with it like mordheim which i have a love hate relationship with based on how many <5's I'm rolling (get out of here with Vassel, that system is ugly and clunky).

Edit: Side note, I was JUST talking to a friend about how much we hope a rogue squadron like game is made based on the engine that was used for the space combat in Battle front 2. I boycotted the game because how dissatisfied I was with the first but I did try out the space combat and it's about the best dream I can imagine.

If only EA didn't have the license.

It's just so good looking.

Seems like more of a reach that a for profit company would have a "fun" division though, right? I doubt Asmotee bought them thinking "oh neat, that area is a money sink but they enjoy it so it's ok" :)

honestly at this point I'm mostly just messing with Ovi for complaining that my "half a release a year isn't a good business model" statement . Luckily he has 20 friends that disagree with me so I've been shown the error of my ways.

I don't say is good business. I say it is what I like. I would never try to teach ffg what is good business. I would really like you were able to do that WHERE THEY COULD HEAR YOU!

Lol ya, it's the negativity thats making people become bored with the lack of communication and half release this year. yep, that's it. My favorite part is that since you've only been playing 2 months you probably don't know about the hyperspace report.

Just taking the time to answer this one.

I said I came to this forum two months ago. I played this game from the get go. I had a life before you, you know ;)

And I didn't said FFG were perfect. Just that latest announcement proved they were commited to Armada. Yes, their management of news and new release is poor. No, we won't fix it by throwing negative comment. And no, they wouldn't do something as risky as the SSD on a dying brand.

Seriously, can everyone chill and bring this thread back to its ridiculous nature?

No! we're gonna argue over nonsense and you're gonna like it...or not, as is the spirit of this argument.

I thought maybe with the more important articles done that Armada would have finally get a chance. It doesn't look good. Are we even in line anymore?

Xwing 2.0 finally out

Legion product releases articles done (Scouts, Boba), for now

Runewars gets big influx of articles and products

Now we're behind endless KeyForge articles?

Can't be a good sign. Unless they are working on Armada 2.0, the SSD may be the finale!!! They really want this game to die?

Ugh, KeyForge...

I don't know anyone that plays Runewars, most stores around hear have clearenced all their stock...

I am still not hopeful for an Armada article, the SSD is too far out for articles yet and there is no sign a true wave 8 is on the way any time soon.

I just will keep playing and be surprised when I see an article.

Do you jest, good sir? The SSD is a significant investment that to me proves they’re not done with this game. We’ve had far longer waits than this. It’s unfortunate that Armada is never the star of the show, but that’s business as usual.

Patience, you must have. Hrm?

All of the stores in my area have clearenced out the armada and Runewars. They don't make product for one and have a pretty iffy rules system for the other, so it's not surprising.

I'd love that not to be the case but I'm not sure what we can really expect. The SSD wasn't the savior people were hoping, it's a side release. If wave 8 is ever announced I think that would be good for the game but I just wouldn't get your hopes up. Enjoy the game as it is because it is well balanced, if that's not enough for you I'd recommend moving on(you're always welcome to complain on the forums with me, @ovinomanc3r Loves when we do :) )

I’m willing to give Keyforge a chance, and I’m not of the opinion it has been given too much spotlight. RuneWars is a much stranger one for me - not sure people were crying out for another Warhammer Fantasy wannabe, and possibly one of the least original at that. The lack of Armada stock is very annoying, considering I’ve gotten 3 new people into it since April. Sometimes I feel I’m doing more to support Armada than FFG ?.

I was happy to retire X-wing as a now closed off game in my library, I’m not sure how much more Imperial Assault I want, and I doubt I’ll ever get on board with Legion. I may close of Armada after the SSD.

Honestly I’m getting as much of not more out of KDM than any of the game right now and that’s enough of a budget killer.

This is the problem I'm having. After getting about six people into the game in the last two months (having another demo today), it is disappointing when they can't find the ships or squadrons that they want because they are being reprinted.

Who are these people?? I was hoping the SSD would be a cool plastic toy ship to add to my collection - I’d say it’s pretty completely living up to my expectations, I wasn’t expecting it to die for my sins or anything.

Runewars exists because FFG wants a super popular minis game that doesn't have a (HIGH) royalties fee like all of their very popular Star Wars games.

Is it super popular? I honestly have no idea. I’ve never seen anyone playing it in the UK, or any stores with display models.

Even if its Not, FFG no doubt has a business plan that double-underlines Not YET.

Besides, half of the argument is that when you're not tied behind royalty fees, everything is cheaper, so a little popularity goes a longer way.

I predict an article...

I actually won't see it. It is coming, and soon (in a geological sense). But so many otherwise decent posters have posted something that has (or will, for those of you without a time machine*) "(How the **** hard is it to spell irritated?)" irritated me so badly that I responded so badly as to be banned. And by responded so badly to be banned, I mean profanity.

I know I am not serious on most of my posts. That is one of the greatest problems of the world today, we expect to many people to take that chance.

That said, Dominsosfleet ... I find you, ...Disappointing. (understatement to the 9th degree)
