I have no idea what the development process is at FFG, but I can't imagine they have more than a wave or 2 planned in advance for Armada. That's not a lot of information to give out and in the end, we'd end up in the same state we're in now. I'm not sure many people really understand the design process (any design process, really). It's an iterative process. Sometimes it takes longer than you expected, sometimes you go down paths that lead nowhere. I have the feeling that just telling the bare minimum, "Wave N is in playtesting" would not have that much of a positive effect on the community. People would wonder what's taking so long. Is FFG lying to us? Maybe Wave IX isn't really in playtesting. What if Armada is dead, would they really tell us?!?!?! ANY information FFG puts out is in a way binding to them. I don't believe there is such a thing as non-binding information. Communities have a tendancy to jump on any and all information and treat it as absolute, unwavering truth... which isn't really compatible with a design process that is essentially trial-and-error.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not defending FFG's lack of communication, but I'm not sure giving out actual, solid information really serves them well.

With that said, it would be mighty nice of them to have community reps that read/post on the forums, maybe even comment on what they've playtested for balance. I would love to have more insight on what they tried to make the SSD work and why it took so long to get right. I'm actually interesting in the why. It would also be nice to know what issues they are concerned with (they don't even have to elaborate on what they're trying), sort of a "State of the Game" thing. That would fuel speculation without actually binding them in any way. I think. I'm waiting for someone to point out how I'm contradicting myself there.

I don't disagree. I personally would choose a look back at the design process over a peek into the future.

I'm more trying to spitball how FFG could do a little bit better PR, for the least effort.

I've given up on giving them the benefit of the doubt. You can hope as much as you want that a person/company will change, if they don't then it's your own fault for sticking around.

not really. It's a game I enjoy playing, doesn't mean I think the company gives any real F' about this game, it's community, or the overall well being of their products beyond monetary. half a release a year ftl.

I think I'm allowed to enjoy a game and think the company making it is bunk. Man I played 40k for 13 years thinking GW was bunk, I STILL think GW is bunk, but at least they're putting releases out.

What you're saying sounds like "if you don't like this country, leave", to which I'll point out this c**t president hasn't gotten me to leave this country, FFG being a negligent parent isn't going to get me to stop playing the game I enjoy just because they're trying to beat out Casey Anthony as parent of the year.

I just hold out hope that I can get you to focus - and vocalise - on the things you love and enjoy with the game, rather than focusing on the negative, is all... because there is certainly SOMETHING there...

and I do believe thats a change I can effect, unlike FFG policy . Since I can’t change that, I leave it be ?

I refuse to move to 2.0. I just bought the last few expansions I needed to complete my x-wing collection, it’s nice to have a hard “end” to my need to spend money on it. I don’t have every expansion, but the few left I don’t have one off I don’t think I particularly want.
