What I'm taking from this is that what Armada needs most to attract new players is alcohol and lap dances. You may be on to something.

Armada seems to suffer less from copious amounts of alcohol than X-Wing.

Also, for some reason, Armada is “more fun to lose” than x-wing, their words.

I think it’s the epic scale perhaps.

Even when I'm watching my ISD go down in flames, I know it's my fault that it happened, nothing beats rolling dice and interacting with another player as we banter with each other and enjoy our company in the name of Star Wars.

I’m hopeful that I’ll get my first game of armada in today since March.

Good luck!

I'm bringing my have-fun list to a store championship (Dice Age Games in Vancouver, WA) today. I took it to a really low-key tournament last week - also after months of gaming hiatus - and did alright.

The key, I think, is to have a KISS list, which is easy on the brain.

Unfortunately my sparring partner seems to be a no show.

Anybody done a count of how many articles $-wing has gotten since Armada had an article of any kind? I feel it's kinda like toilet paper at this point. Why advertise for it if it's already your top seller. Folks are already buying it.

Because modern man has such short attention spans that if they don't get an article every ten minut *attention span wears off and begins to wander aimlessly*

I was going to, but then I ran into the problem of what counts as an article? OP announcements? Guest writers? Just previews? Previews + Announcement? It's also not necessarily fair to compare right now, as X-wing 2.0 is being treated as a new game for the purpose of marketing (most of the articles are already coving known information at this point) so a better comparison would be #of articles prior to release for each game, but even then not necessarily fair.

Was curious, so I did the count, which was depressing. Since the last Armada article on 6 June, when there also was an X-Wing article, there have been eight X-Wing articles. For comparison (and to further depress everyone), since then there has also been two Imperial Assault articles, three Legion articles, and six Destiny articles, with every one of these games also getting an article on 6 June (with two for Legion).

Regarding X-Wing 2.0 though, until it comes out, this may be the best time to get those people into Armada. I have a Learn to Play session on Thursday to convert another X-Wing player who has stopped playing until 2.0 drops and is open to trying other games. Since people might not bought 2.0 or the conversion kits yet, this is an opportunity to get them interested in Armada before they go all in with 2.0.

Edit: I did not count the two articles on the Destiny page that were applicable to multiple FFG games (So You Want to Be a Game Designer... and Experience Adventure), but all other articles seemed to be relevant to the previous question.

ITs a super good time to get people into armada. I got two new players last week, but 1 of them is likely only temporary. Also important to remember that X-wing is going through the game launch cycle, so comparison isn't super useful.

I don't disagree but there is one big issue and that is supply of products. I know people - including myself - are having difficulty getting certain products especially around me (Toronto). I wanted a second Rebel and Imperial Fighter Squadrons. The Rebel one I had to order online from BC and the Imperial I had to ebay from Germany (which I had to pay a bit more for). Ach mein Gott! Hammerhead, Arquitens and Chimeara expansions are hard to come by and many stores don't even have Core Sets.

That said, good stuff! Keep building the community.

Sentry Box basically has everything but the fighter packs which are rare worldwide...

We just happen to be Western Canada which is all but ignored by the east in detail ??

Yea, I looked over the Sentry Box, they're actually a client of mine ?but ended up ordering from Mission: Fun & Games (boardgames.ca), also a client of mine.

I've just been using borrow/proxying for that. (Seeing as I don't even have imperial 1 yet). For the most part, it works here as neither of them mind that. Funnily enough, my bigger hurdle is that neither FLGS really stocks armada in a significant quantity (One only the VSD) and the core set price.

And the legion article drop ends. Two in a row

Pretty good articles / expansions too. Didn’t think Legion would get Emperor Palpatine before Armada got Piett.

before armada got Piett is a date in a very long term.

I honestly can't believe they're putting palp out THIS soon. I feel like this game might burn through all it's options really quickly and that makes me think there are plans for faction additions.

I could see Droids/Trade Federation and Old Republic.

Quite so - I don't play Legion, and this actually puts me a bit further away from doing so.

ditto, I've posted it like 18 times but "if i wanted to play a game like legion I'd go back to 40k"

Oh, I have absolutely no desire to go back to 40k, but that's because of GW. If I weren't struggling to find time to play Armada and Rebellion - and having X-Wing on standby, I'd totally play Legion. A lot of my gaming community has taken the plunge. Some even towards Destiny. But my life is just not allowing it right now.

I also am a little annoyed about the lack of Imperial Assault/Legion overlappability. Not that I have IA, but I have a friend who has a ton of it, and I had been playing in his campaign (as the Empire, of course). I just feel that with Legion, FFG is stepping onto the GW-side of the Force, and once it does so, forever will it dominate its destiny (ie. reputation).

Actually, it feels like Gw became Ffg and and Ffg the old Gw, from armada point of view, ~pr wise.
