Article Predictions. Mostly General Discussion. But there's definately some Predictions scattered throughout.
I didn’t miss it.
I just saw it as preamble for the US to leave the UN, as there is no point to it unless your intent is to weaponize space in violation of current UN treaties.
And that both scared and disappointed me.
...
The Destiny article was interesting, even though timings seemed to line up anyway...
Still 1000% convinced GenCon is the point for Armada News

We’re used to the combination by now. Sorry again, world...
I guess I had hopes for legit space exploration in my lifetime.
Yeah...

I'm not convinced of anything anymore... ?
If they wait for Gen Con it could be because they want to make up for last year's Armada no show at Gen Con. BUT if they wait until Gen Con that means we will have waited nearly a full year between announcements and that makes me sad.
I don't want a monthly announcement like Legion but 1 a year isn't enough. I have stuck with 1.5 a year or one every 9 months as being my perfect number. That doesn't include non ship releases like the CC campaign. I shouldn't be able to play my same list from regionals at store championships with nothing new to consider.

Very weird announcement. Seems pretty pointless. The Air Force already has the Space Command, which is very well funded and handles any legitimate military space missions. How is the "Space Force" going to differentiate itself? Or is this a publicity stunt, and they are just going to spin the Space Command off into its own branch?

Yeah...
yeah, was dreaming of a consistent, global, step by step approach to push out boundaries.
Deinvest into national defenses, unite to go out there.
Lol, I am hopeless.

what is not a publicity stunt, nowadays?
This really makes me concern. I was hoping that my children would be the first generation who won't have to be feared through their whole lifetime of an imminent war in Europe. I guess it's time to reconsider that.
Although, I will say, I don’t want this great thread closed, so I’m trying to avoid overt politicism where possible ?
And as I have said elsewhere - even if Armada truly is FFG-dead (and I don’t believe for an INSTANT that it is!) it will live on, undead of sorts, as a community edition I already have a draft for... and I know I am not the only person to contribute to that either ?
But I do feel the point is moot.
Well get what’s coming to us... Very Soon...
(Ominous!)
at the moment, kittens and regular ISD reprint are the only announcement on FFG part....
kitten is good news for some, but ISD seems a bit beside the point; here in France we have a bunch of new players that are stuck for not having any fighters I pack to buy. That is very much what can kill armada, there is very little fleet builds that can do with only TIE fighter and Xwings from the starter pack!
we can only send them to Mel royal interceptors, inquisitors, resistance awings, etc... and lend them cards and models if they want to enter a regular tournament, but that is just a temporary arrangement....

Oh good Lord, everyone is all serious about this. We in the military are just laughing at this because:
1) lol Space Force
2) The military brass, not Trump, have been floating this idea for a while to separate the responsibilities of the Air Force between air breathers and their ongoing space activities. They're a bit bloated right now and the separation would probably be a good thing because the pilots that run the Air Force are pretty clueless about the ongoing space operations. The same thing is being considered for Cyber since none of the top echelons of the other branches really understand that either.
3) POTUS does not have the authority to create a new branch. Only Congress can do that as with the Air Force breaking off from the Army.
4) I get to extend my mockery of the Air Force to a whole new branch!
5) lol Space Force
Edited by TruthinessI imagine it going something like this:
The song even kinda sounds like it's saying space force....

You see, back when I was RAAF, we had a similar “it’s just funny to us” situation when New Zealand said they were going to remove all but their SAR and Transport wings of their Air Force, and it would be okay, because Australia will pick up the slack... was riotously funny...
... till they actually did it.
It just echoes of that to me, and I’m far too jaded these days.
So my apologies for being a wet blanket on it.

I'm about 98% sure they're not but sometimes it really does feel like news/posts like that really are there to mock us.

It would be nice to know what is "new and improved" about them. I mean, they can't seriously be planning a "preview" article for the stands to explain how they're different. Right?
Although given that they seem to make an article about almost anything to hold off on any Armada news, that may not be too farfetched.
Honestly, since I play Rebellion, if these stands are improved to where they won't damage the bottom of the character tokens then I'm all for picking them up.
Plastic Stands 2.0 is gonna be great.
I hope that they continue the trend of digital instructions and points balancing.
Original Plastic Stands had grown bloated and needed a reboot so bad.

This time must be. I mean, cardboard is what need replacement. At least in my Rebellion game.

new plastic stands though
Finally something that is relevant to Armada! Well it must be relevant right? We have some use for these don't we? Something to hold command tokens maybe? I mean we couldn't be being bumped down the road again for Plastic Stands 2.0... These must be a must have Armada Item I know it!
I need to stop checking the FFG news feed...
Legion Barricades release tomorrow, probably the least needed expansion I have ever seen, or HAD seen before plastic stands 2.0. I fully expect a 10 paragraph announcement with details on all the different uses and ways that you can place Barricades tomorrow.*
* Full disclosure I play Legion and I do like it, not nearly as much as I enjoy Armada but it is fun. That said I can't see why anyone would NEED more barricades.
