Well i'm getting my first game in this year today 
so I'm happy...even if I am running rebels instead of my normal Imperial fleet!
(club meets clash with just about everything else at the moment ... :\)

what i personally disliked about the Hyperspace report thingy was not the fact that there was Nothing announced for Armada... but the fact that there was not a single official Statement on why they made it x wing only. just acting like it had been planned/ announced that way all along

Personally, and I'm sure it's been suggested, I think the something big is a new starter set for clone wars era stuff. Adding in two new factions, squads, etc...
It would make a bit more sense to me that it would take a longer time to develop and balance two new factions to introduce to the game over just maybe an SSD.
I personally would love to see it, and it wouldn't be surprising given the announcement of 5 factions in XWing 2.0.

I'm gonna be even more neutral than that. I'm not hoping for shitery! I'm gonna play with all the stuff in wave 6 and 7 I haven't even put on the table yet, and if something comes, I'll be pleasantly surprised....or...at least surprised...

They just had the one drop last week for Legion so unless they do the Fleet Troopers contents article it should be one for another game. It would be nice if it was for Armada but at this point we might just have to end up waiting to hear something come Gencon either to save some big announcement be it the SSD or new factions or quite possibly so that Armada doesn't take away from the excitement for X-Wing 2.0 in the same way that there wasn't much of a peep about IA until after Legion dropped.

Man, I'm so frustrated at this point that I just don't expect anything. I'm terrified the next announcement we're getting is more along the lines of how the system is going to be winded down for it's eventual retirement like the card game was. I think there is a lot more for them to do and I'm not crying "armada is dead" I'm just concerned about the total lack of info. The hype was real for a march announcement, "March is going to be it, awesome. Ok np it's still early probably April like the last few years. Ok well they've announced it for the hyperspace report so we're good no issues...well fu**ary". I want the game to do well, I just have no hope left in it or FFG's dedication to it.

I actually enjoy the sequels decently but ya, KotOR was great/probably the best storyline. Good Gawd Revan. pretty sure it's not canon anymore though(not that that really matters).

Not directly, but there are hints in current canon.
The temple at Malastare and the supposed Hint of an artifact with Luke I believe.
But for example, the old republic timeline was basically given away, far enough away, that the people using and writing it could do what they wanted and have it never actually be “canon” of note. Ie, even if it was canon, it didn’t matter to the main story.
But who knows.
I admit ignorance to the Old Republic era. I only dabbled with the MMO, and as I had no online friends or inclination to be competitive (my connection would never allow it) I never got really involved.

That's one of the reasons I love that era, you can tell tons of different stories set in the Star Wars universe without having to worry about how it relates to this or that. Quite frankly that is the kind of thing I want out of the new movies, create a new era that has all new characters that people can love rather than dragging OT characters down to make ST look better. Granted part of that is me coming from a legends background so having a good comparison to the different outcomes that the OT cast gets.

Yeah, KOTOR was great. I'm sure this takes up a whole different thread, but am not a fan of the sequels. Visually, they are great and certainly feel like Star Wars, but I think they suffer the same problem as the last two Bond films. Once you get past the visuals and begin to peel back the onion, you start to realize that it doesn't make any sense.

That's what I love about The Old Republic, either in the two games or the MMO. They could almost do whatever they wanted with minimal repercussions for the Clone Wars / GCW-era.

I know you are frustrated and looking for proof, not hints, of what is to come for this game. Do yourself a favor and checkout the latest galactic conflict podcast (episode 10) and either wait until the 50 minute mark or skip to it and listen to the interaction that @Mogrok had with Andrew after the Hyperspace report. It is just a story and Andrew from FFG may have been blowing smoke, but I’m encouraged by the conversation and can wait.
